Dec PTR, The More the MERRIER! 12/5 Upd... It's a BABY! reveal!

I know! Of course, I was HOPING to convince my husband to take a trip next May (as that was our original plan)... I guess that is out now! :guilty: He was against the idea of going twice in one year. Oh well, I guess that just means the next trip could be next Dec... :woohoo:

You little sneak! Talk about finding out new things :lmao: I didn't know this! Last you told me, your next trip was probably going to be in the spring of 2012.

Although I've already said it to you personally, I'll say it again! party: CONGRATULATIONS! Everyone just needs to hope Christen's second pregnancy is different from her first in this one aspect. She was ALWAYS tired with Cortlyn. I would call her at 6 or 7 at night and she would be heading to bed! That just will not work with our Disney plans. Maybe this one will be the opposite though... :confused3

Anyway, I mainly wanted to tell everyone about some great little gifts I found for the girls at Target last night. I know Christen and I are both addicted to the dollar section right as you walk in. I ALWAYS stop there to see what they have. Well, last night I was shopping for my hubby (his birthday is today! woo hoo!!) and of course I had to stop there first. I came across several Disney related things and just had to get several things to help Christen in her goody-bag quest.

First, there were some little books. You know, the short ones with cardboard pages for really small kids? They had both The Lion King and Winnie the Pooh. If she hasn't mentioned it already, Christen doesn't really like Pooh. Not sure why really but this was one reason she didn't want to go to Crystal Palace for any meal. :confused3 Anyway, so I got The Lion King book. When I told C about it, she made a good suggestion to use it for the day they go to Animal Kingdom (DH and I are not doing that park this trip...we'll be in Epcot this day). For $1, I thought this was great!

015.jpg

Next, they had some Tinkerbell markers. Again, these were only $1! Not sure how long they'll work but a decent price for what we got nonetheless.

016.jpg

And lastly was a Princess eating tray. I thought this was adorable. Of course, it was $2.50 but still worth it IMO. I can totally see Christen having to wash this everytime she feeds Cortlyn  You're Welcome, by the way!

017.jpg

They had a few other Disney related items. A few Cars things for boys. They did have a Fairy Activity Book but that's a little too old for a 2.5 year old. They also had a sports bottle type thing in a pack with a tupperware type sandwish case. I probably should have gotten this but I just wasn't sure. I also should have at least taken a picture of it with my phone but I actually just now thought of that :sad2: I could always go back. It would give me an excuse to go back to Target. And how many of us don't just love that store, right? Christen, if you think she would like that let me know and I'll go get it :)

Oops! I didn't tell you that? :rolleyes1 Well, it was just a thought, because really, going twice in one year would be a lot for us!

I LOVE all the stuff!! YAY! I can't wait to go by and see what my Target has, if anything! this Target isn't always that great... :sad2:

Congratulations!! I was pregnant with Jack when we went in Dec 2007. It went very well, and I really enjoyed spending my park time really looking around while everyone else rode the rides I couldn't. That and my family enjoyed having someone to fetch fast passes fro them while they rode :lmao:

Good evening folks! How are you? I'm sooooo sorry that I haven't updated in a while. Things have been slightly crazy at work and I've been extra tired at night! :confused3 I have been moved to a busier department in the medical clinic I work at, so it cuts into my social/internet life. Clearly, I was not very smart when I accepted the position!  No, its a better (although lateral) move for me in the clinic.

So, I thought today, I would discuss my "must do's" while at the parks. What do you think? :cutie:

Magic Kindgom
I really really really want to take Cortlyn on Dumbo and Its a Small World. However... I'm a little worried with this expansion stuff. Is Dumbo gonna be there still? I also want to the Tiki Room (its one of the few things I vividly remember about Disney from my childhood). Pirates of the Caribbean is defiantly a must as well. Nita and I were discussing POTC and she's afraid it would be too scary for the girls. What do you people think? We MUST see the Philharmagic.... its important since my husband is a conductor.

So, those are my "musts". Of course, that list has changed since I found out I'm gonna be limited in my rides. :rotfl:The Jungle Cruise would be nice- I don't really remember ever doing this. Of course, I'm hoping Cortlyn will want to do the Barnstormer (again- will this be there? I'm confused by this expansion stuff!). For those with small children, I saw somewhere that the Barnstormer was for 36 or 38 inches and at least 3 years old... do they actually ask for the age? Cause Cortlyn is 36.5 inches now, so I'm pretty sure she will be tall enough but she's only 2.5.

Okay... I just totally got side tracked while writing this... Our neighbor has a Segway! I go to ride it! Totally cool! :woohoo:

Claire rode Barnstormer at 2 1/4. She loved it and rode it a few times. I think it's 36 inches.
As for POTC, Claire also rode that at 2, 3 and 4. She loved it at 2, was a bit iffy and 3, and even more iffy at 4. She said it was "stupid" at the age of 4. LOL! It's not too scary really, but some kids might think it is if pirates scare them. I think when they are younger, they really don't think about scary stuff so much. It's whne they get a tad older and start thinking it iver more that it becomes scary. At least in my experience.

Jungle cruise is nice, and ifg you have a chance, ride it at night too.

/
Christen, some other must-dos, IMO, would be It's a Small World and Peter Pan's Flight. I think IASW was my absolute favorite thing as a kid. It's one of the ones I definitely remember doing over and over every year we went.

We did Jungle Cruise both at night and during the day in May. I agree with jenseib to try and do both. I think the night ride gave it a very different feel but both were fun. I'm with you though, I really don't remember ever riding this until our honeymoon. I have no idea why except maybe b/c it's kind of tucked away? I don't know.

Well, on to why I was getting on our PTR in the first place. I have to tell everyone.

We booked the Candlelight Processional Package for the trip!!!!!

It was quite an ordeal though so for those of you NOT going in November/December or are just not doing it this year, let me fill you in. First of all, the package details were never really released. About 2 or 3 weeks ago the Disney Parks Blog posted a pretty incomplete schedule of who the celebrity narrators were going to be. However, there were several dates still listed as TBA (well, actually, they still are!). The night we wanted to go, 12/14, Steven Curtis Chapman is supposed to be there. I know I mentioned in already but I'm very excited about seeing him. He definitely got a lot of play in my mom's van growing up so I have a pretty personal connection with him.

So that list was posted a few weeks ago and the date of August 26th was listed as the day the CMs would be able to book the package. Since then, NOTHING! No real details about the restaurants being offered, prices, etc. All we really had to go on were the stats from last year. Well, there's a thread over in the Restaurants forum and two or three days ago someone apparently got some info from a CM that basically the structure of the package would be the same with only slight price increases for each tier of restaurant. But again, this was never posted officially so no one really knew! CMs have never been guilty of giving out bad info, right?

I ended up deciding on the following for our package: Dinner between 5 and 6pm for the 8:15 show with restaurant preference in this order: Le Cellier, Tutto Italia, Teppan Edo, then Coral Reef. So I get up, get ready for work this morning, and while I was getting my breakfast ready, started dialing the dining line at EXACTLY 7:00am. The next 59 minutes (yes, you read that right) was a series of dial, busy signal, hang up, try again. I was sitting at my desk at work when the familiar "briiiinnnnggg!!" :wizard: tone picked up and told me I had gotten thru and the clock read 7:59. :scared1: So I go thru the prompt and was politely informed that my wait would be "more than 30 minutes". I was so overjoyed at this point though to at least be on hold! So I begin working at my desk, holding my phone to my ear. I have never wanted a blue tooth until this morning! :lmao: I had texted Christen about my dilemma earlier and she offered to call for me too. But they needed a CC hold and we hadn't gone over EXACTLY what I wanted so I decided to trudge thru myself.

At about 8:40ish, a lovely CM finally picked up. I told Christen thru google chat that I was finally talking to someone! I gave her the necessary info and had her check for Le Cellier between 5 and 6. No go. So I quickly asked about Tutto. It was available for 5:05! Yea!!!! So that's what we have. The date and time were slightly more important to me than restaurant so I was glad I at least got my second choice of where to eat.

I'm exhausted just reliving all of this. I hope you all either had better luck with this or didn't even have to fool with it at all. If you did go thru this with me, at least we're done, right?

Merry Christmas everyone!! I can't believe I'm already thinking that!

I don't think pirates would be too scary. My little one got on it when was not even two yet and he LOVED it! It is still one of his favorites. And my son got on the Barnstormer at the same time, not quite two. I think he only had to be 36 inches, but I can't remember now, that's been so long ago!

Great purchases at Target, too, btw Shelley. I love that section of Target!!!! Mainly for the (cheap) Disney finds. :rolleyes1

Hi! I followed your link to your PTR in your signature from Reese's report!

I need to go back to the beginning & read everything but had to post this before I forgot!!! I was in the Magical Music Days parade at Disney back in 1999 too!!!! (I actually still have the pin they gave us!)

I just thought that was so interesting to find someone on DIS who was also in that parade! :goodvibes

I'll have to find my mom's pictures & you can see if you are in any of them! Don't worry, I won't post them on DIS...its too embarassing! I looked awful back then! :lmao:

Anyway, back to reading!

Wow!!! I read through all the pages so far & your plans look really good! I haven't eaten at any of the restaurants you named so unfortunately can't give you much detail about those. Although I will say if I had a little Princess, I would definitely be doing CRT!!! I'm actually considering it next trip (I think more for me than our son...lol). I think he would enjoy it though...what do you think?

As far as the rides you named, I will say this. We took our son last year & he was 10 months old. On this year's trip, he was just over 2 years old. We didn't ride Dumbo either trip, but went on IASW & he loved it! He was afraid at first & cried but we went on it multiple times & he wasn't afraid after that first time. (I had to go on IASW because its what I really remembered from my childhood trips!)

I'm not sure what the expansion is like right now or what it will be like in December, but when we went in June, it really didn't affect anything we did at the park. It did limit the time we spent in Fantasyland but we were still able to ride what we planned. Unfortunately, the parks were PACKED when we were there so we didn't go on Dumbo or Peter Pan. (The lines for both were over 120 minutes!) I think our son would have really loved Dumbo though.

About Pirates...our son loved it last trip & loved it this trip as well! On our first trip (when he was 10 months old), he only cried during the part at the end where it is complete darkness. But that part only lasts for a total of maybe 3 seconds so it wasn't bad. This trip, he loved it!

About Philarmagic, we didn't see it this trip but last trip, our son was scared to death! He refused to put on the glasses to watch the show & he screamed the ENTIRE show. I felt horrible for the people around us. That being said, on our trip this year, we saw the Bug's Life show at Animal Kingdom & I would say its comparable to Philarmagic since you wear the glasses, its partially dark, you sit & watch the show, and its 3D. He LOVED the Bug's Life show this trip!!! I was so glad. The only part he didn't like was when the bee stings you but obviously not an issue at Philar! lol

I hope that helps a little bit.

And CONGRATS on your new baby!!! How exciting that must be! Its something else you can celebrate on your Disney trip (like maybe taking some extra $$$ to buy some infant clothes or a first Disney toy for the baby!) :goodvibes CONGRATS AGAIN!

That's SOOO cool that we were there at the same time! I LOVED MMD! It was such a neat experience for me to really feel like part of the Cast and such. the CM were so nice to us AND (I didn't mention this before!) but Joely Fisher was there and was brought thru our group and when I made eye contact with her I made the :hyper: OMG face. She smiled at me and shook her head like yeah, its me. Then when we were marching, she was sitting off to the side and I saw her again and she waved at ME! Not that she's some BIG star, but it was cool for me! :rotfl:

I think Poppygirl is going that same night to the Candlelight thing. She has the same narrator, so I be it's the same night.
I have no clue who it is though. LOL!

Dumbo is a must do for kids. I didn't really like the Tiki Room, and will skip it this time around. I'm trying to convince my daughter to give POTC and the Haunted Mansion a try this time around. Last time (2007) she didn't want to and she is thinking they might be too scary for her. Philharmagic is definitely a must do. While you are in there, see if you can find the sunglasses I lost in 2007.
There is a spot outside of Cinderella's castle that I want to see. There is a little statue of Cinderella, and if you place yourself in the right spot it will look like she has a crown on her head.

Dumbo and Barnstormer should most definitely be open. The expansion only has taken down Ariel's Grotto and Pooh's Playful Spot at this point. If Toontown closes, Barnstormer is supposed to stay open. They are saying that Dumbo will never be completely out. (I think they are going to open the new Dumbo on the day they close the old one.) Of course, it's a small world is right up there as a favorite/must do too for us!

Thats the rags to riches statue

Awe! I love that picture! I'll have to look for that! Thanks!:cool1:

Okay... question. Do you guys notice the smilies randomly mixed up on the side?:confused3 Like, I know I have looked and thought "Hmm... I thought this was on the right hand side!" Oh well... not a HUGE deal!

Okay, so Its a small world is TOTALLY on my MUST list! I got totally distracted by my neighbor! He is a meter reader and he bought a segway to go house to house to read. Apparently he gets paid by the meter, so this helps him go quickly through a subdivision or whatnot. He let a few of us drive it and it was so crazy and fun!:cool1: Cortlyn wanted to ride it, but I couldn't really let her, since you have to balance on it.

Anyway, about Its a Small World, I watched a video on the disney site about the update to the Disneyland IASW ride and Cortlyn was just amazed by it. :goodvibes Have any of you seen it? I thought it was soooo cool that Walt Disney had children from all over the world bring a vial of water to add to the ride, so you were literally riding on water from different countries!:lovestruc I just thought that was a nice touch. That video showed updates to the ride with Alice, Ariel, Lilo and Peter Pan. Does the DisneyWorld have those updates or do you think that will be part of the new stuff? :confused3

Another thing I am looking forward to doing possibly is taking a train ride around the park with Cortlyn during her nap time. I'm thinking that might be a good way for her to rest and me see the park from a new view. I'm not sure that will work and she might not NEED a nap, but that's a plan anyway!

OH! I suppose I should mention our latest addition to the "plan" heehee. Since we have 5 day park passes and Shelley and Brian will def be getting there early and we most likely will as well- we planned a late lunch at MK for the 5 of us at the Plaza. And by we I mean Shelley suggested it! :rotfl2: I hadn't really heard of the Plaza- okay, I haven't heard of MOST of the places at disney! :rotfl:- but this little place looks like a good choice for a nice lunch before the MVMCP. I'm hoping the weather is nice, so we can sit outside.

So, that is the info for MK... Up next is Epcot, right? ;)

I am learning interesting facts here too. I had no idea about the water from other countries. That is just such a great idea!!

Okay, so I finally had a chance to get on the POP thread over in the Resorts Forum. From looking at all the choices, I think I've figured out which buildings we should request for our stay. From talking to Christen, I think the following things are what we're both looking for.

1. We both want connecting rooms with each other. I think this will be good for when we're in the rooms specifically in the morning and at night. We won't have to go back and forth via the outside walk way. Plus, during the day, if they need to lay Cortlyn down for a nap, Christen and Corey can open the door between our rooms. They can then watch tv in our room or whatever while she sleeps and not feel like they have to be so quiet.

2. Brian and I want a king size bed but we do not want a roll-in shower (so a standard room as opposed to a wheelchair accessible room). Buildings 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9 are the rooms designated as standard so I think these are our best bets for that. Since King rooms only connect with double rooms, this works well also. That is what you want, right Christen?

3. When I look at the POP map, it seems Buildings 4 (60's - Play-Doh), 6 (70's - Mickey Phone), and 9 (80's - Walkman) are the closest to the food court area and bus stops. I guess it really would depend on our room in these buildings though. But that kind of knocks out buildings 2 (50's) and 8 (90's) for me. Those two seem pretty far from the main building and bus stops.

4. Now Christen mentioned something about seeing the fireworks. From what I read, the rooms on the 4th floor in building 4, facing the lake, are the rooms with the most likely chance of being able to see this. But my question to her is, would you rather have a 4th floor room (having the use the elevator a lot) or just being on the ground floor for easy accessibility?

5. Also, Christen mentioned something about not wanting a room facing the pool for Cortlyn's sake. I think you said something about how if she sees the pool at all she's going to want to get in all the time?

So, taking all of our requests into account, I think the best way to word it would be this (for me): "Connecting room with Christen Francis, standard King bed in building 4, 6, or 9, Lake facing room, on 4th floor" That sounds like a lot to request though! I'll be shocked if we get all of that but it doesn't hurt to ask for it. How does this sound to you Christen? Anything you want to add?

Wow... You have really thought about this! :) Well, Yes, if Cortlyn sees the pool every day, we can forget going to the Parks... I believe that she thinks she's part fish.:rotfl: She would only want to be in the water. I can see a lot of freezing cold walks from the pool to the room. Maybe we could split up our request? Like I request Building 4,6 or 9 Lake Facing and you could request king and connecting? I dunno. And the 4th floor... well, that would be okay as LONG as we use the elevators this time!!! :lmao:
