Dec. 7, 2008 4 nite Mousefest Cruise - who's all going?

Hello Everyone,

I am sad to say but we will not be joinging all of you. We are just devastated. But we found out yesterday that my sister has a brain tumor, the surgery is scheduled for the 2nd of September and recovery time can take up to 10 weeks. So we are going to reschdule the trip.

The boys are very sad that they will not meet their friends that they have been communicating with for the last few months.

I will be thinking of all of you and I wish you the very best time on the cruise. I hope that one day we can sail together.

Clara, Anil & Nikhil

My prayers are with your sister and your family.

Getting more and more excited:yay: Just 3 more months and off we sail. I was just thinking about what excursions I plan on doing and eating at Palos. I think I will make ressies for Palo's, the spa, and the dolphin encounter in Nassau since no little ones will be coming on this trip. My mom isn't into the dolphin thing but I really want to do it even though I nervous about it.

What is everyone else doing excursion wise?

I would be interested in knowing who has gone on a shore excursion. Who liked what and why or not did not like.

This would be for Nassau.

2 years ago--my husband and oldest daughter who was 8 at the time, did the dolphin encounter in Nassau. They seemed to enjoy it. We didn't purchase the encounter through Disney since they were already fully booked. We booked it ourselves through the company that offers this encounter. I can't remember their name, but could look it up if anyone was interested. Also if you're interested in any specific info on the dolphin encounter--I could ask my husband and daughter for you.

I think that this time around that we are going to stay on the ship during our day at Nassau.

We are also hoping to have brunch at Palos. We did this last time and it was soooooooo good. I highly recommend it!:thumbsup2

We just paid in full the other day, so it won't be too much longer before we can make our reservations.:goodvibes

I think we have about 12 families so far, and I think if it grows much larger that we should consider splitting into smaller groups. I am thinking anything larger than 15 we should split, so that would mean the maximum anyone would buy for is 15 cabins. If we end up with 20 cabins we would split into 2 groups of 10. It is a short cruise and I assume no one wants to spend too much of their cruise delivering gifts.

I was just counting days and I guess Suite guests will be able to book excursions soon, it is hard to believe how fast it is coming.

I'm totally a cruise newbie here. We did sign up for the exchange, but i'm not exactly sure what we signed up for. hehe my job has been total insanity lately so i've ben a bit distracted and now i'm starting to get into it all. I guess i need to start planning some...

So how does it work, little gifts for everyone? just gift for the cabin? do you give gifts once? Can someone help?

I did get my fish extenders so at least thats good. But whats with the magnets. they are soooo cutee! how do you make those? or did peole buy those too?

thanks in advance for the help!!

For the gift exchange, it is like a secret Santa, I will make a list of all the people who have signed up and then sometime during the cruise you will deliver a small gift to them. It is up to you if you want to sign the gift or leave it blank. You will attach your extender to the "fish" outside your door and this is where the gifts will be left for you and where you will deliver your gifts too.

So far I think we have 12-13 families signed up

Hi Everyone! I am a little late in joining this thread, but I am here!! :)

My family will be on the dec. 7-11 cruise. It will be me(31) DH(40) DS(5), DD(3) my dad(63) and my mom(54). We are sooo excited!!! There are so many pages to this thread. Questions I have:

1. I would like to join the gift exchange, where do I sign up?
2. Fish extenders? Can I make on or do I have to buy?
3. Magnets, can anyone advise how to make one??
4. Is this the MouseFest cruise???

Anything else I need to know? Would love to know everything. I look forward to chatting with everyone!!!! Cannot wait to meet you guys in person!!!

First I want to thank everyone for the well wishes.

Surgery was yesterday and everything went well. She is still in Intensive care but the doctor says its normal, to observe her intensely for at least a couple of days. But she is up and talking.

So we changed the package for next years mouse fest cruise. We attempted to book the land/sea for April when the boys have spring break, and it was almost 8000 :scared1: more for a category 3 because its peak season. So we just figured to do the mouse fest since we really want to see the parks/ship decorated for Christmas. I may take the boys at least to the parks before that, 12/09 seems way too long.

We are so sad that we will not meet any of you but I hope to cruise with you at some point. I will be thinking of all of you in December and look forward to your trip reports.

Hi everyone,

Welcome to all the new cruise thread members.

We just got back from our WDW trip/cruise and had a fabulous time. Two stops at Castaway Cay were awesome. We had really great service from our wait staff and stateroom host. The new Toy Story evening show is really good. We ended up staying on the ship in Nassau since we weren't going to have a sea day and wanted to do some onboard activities. I also did a wonderful spa treatment that morning for about half of what it costs when not in port. It was a back massage, facial and scalp/foot massage for 20 minutes each and an hour in the rainforest room for $125. I highly recommend it. My DH and DS11 did the jet ski tour at CC and loved it. DH said it's a must do from now on. DS7 and I did the sting ray feeding, but he wasn't so fond of the fish and sting rays rubbing against his legs this time. He loved it when we did it last year. DS11 and I parasailed on our 2nd stop at CC and it was great. We also spent a great deal of time snorkeling the 2nd afternoon at CC and got to see all the underwater hidden treausures (pots, messages on plaques, "treasure" chest, etc) a submerged submarine, Minnie and a boat.

Our FE exchange worked out really well. We had groups of 6 families and gave out a family or parents gift and small gifts to the kids. Our boys loved coming back to the stateroom to see what goodies were left.

We had a great time at the parks with pretty good wait times except for Toy Story Mania. I highly suggest going there at rope drop and riding 1st thing or getting FP's first thing as they are gone by 11:30 and have long waits all day long. We were on the Dining Plan and enjoyed meals at Boma, Chef Mickey's, The Garden Grill, Kona Cafe, Tusker House, Crystal Palace (both breakfast and dinner), and Hollywood and Vine.

We were able to tour Cinderella's Castle Suite through DVC on 8/31 and it was wonderful. Much smaller than I thought it would be, but beautiful and well decorated.

Clarasunnyside, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your sister/family. I can definitely relate after going through what we've gone through this year with DS11's tumor in his chest. He's now doing great and it's all scar tissue. Modern medicine is amazing and everyone's prayers are powerful too.

Hi Clara,

So glad to hear that your sister's surgery went well and that she's up and talking. I hope she has a speedy recovery. I am glad that you were able to book another cruise for next year's Mousefest. I too hope that we will be able to meet and cruise together someday. I know Adriane would enjoy meeting Anil. Please keep us updated on your sister and take care. Keep in touch!

Cinderella's suite that must have been something to see, I hope you got lots of pictures. Sounds like a great trip, and that is wonderful about your son.

3 months to go I cannot believe it, I am really starting to get excited.:yay:

Anyone going to be booking excursions, Spa or Palo ressies tomorrow?

I just saw this thread about DCL changing 4 day Wonder days at sea to the 1st instead of the last days. Not sure when it's set to change:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1945446

I also saw that some Dissers dug up itineraries for the Magic in the summer of 2010 which include some Baltic (Oslo, Coppenhagen, etc) ports. I guess by the time our cruise comes around, we will know for sure and can try and book one for the 10% off and OBC and hope we can save enough by then. We did the Mediterranean on the Magic in July 2007 and it's been our best cruise yet.

MKMommy, the castle suite was awesome. I'd definitely love to spend the night in it if given the opportunity! I'll have to find my photobucket link to the suite photos.

I hope everyone's doing well and for those booking ressies tomorrow, they get what they want.
