Dec 5, 2010 ~ 4 nights on the Wonder!

Brennan's count down chain is looking really little right about now and it's an awesome sight! We leave in 2 days and a wake up.

No packing here yet. We are last minute packers too. DH is off Friday and we won't leave until about noon so I'm sure he'll pack then. I'll make sure he knows where his underwear is this time... He'd die if he knew I said this but he never goes on here so I'll say it anyways.... Last year we cruised and the first day he coudn't find his underwear and he had to wear his swimsuit and go out in Nassau and find him some. No tighty whities near the port and he checked a dozen stores---he ended up with aqua blue shades of itty biti bikini men's underwear. The night we were packing to leave the ship he found all his underwear in a zipper in the back of the his bag! He couldn't throw the other ones out fast enough.

Today is my doctor's visit so please keep your fingers crossed I can get a smaller boot. I'm still having a lot of pain where the surgery was and I can't imaginewalking the parks in a normal shoe though I desperately want to do so. No heels for me this trip and I bought the cutest pair a few weeks before the surgery. At least I'll be able to wear them on the Dream in July.

I think I'm going to do some packing tonight for myself and help the boys do their packing. Brennan has wrestling each night this week so it's been crazy busy.

I've been sending emails to our employees all morning begging for time sheets. Usually they aren't due until the 3rd but I need them to have payroll done by tomorrow. Luckily they are all turning them in which is a relief so I won't have to do it on our trip.

Safe travels to all those leaving shortly. It's really horrible out there today---very windy and rainy and supposed to get worse. At least it's not snow! I can't wait to be in the 70s and sunny!!!

Welcome! What part of PA are you from? We live in Hanover (home of Utz, Snyders, etc)--about 15 minutes from Gettysburg.

Okay, so I should have read down further before posting. I see Shippensburg. Does he play any sports? We've been there for wrestling (New Oxford Beginning Champions & Duals team, football (Gettysburg Midget Football) and baseball (New Oxford) over the years.

My DS is homeschooled, so he doesn't play on any of the school teams. He has played little league in the past & he is currently playing basketball for the youth association here in town. How old is your son? I'm sure Noah would love to have a buddy.

Have a safe drive down. That is the one part of the trip I'm really not looking forward to!

Susan

My sons are Brennan who is 9 and Keegan who is 13. We are hoping to make the Dis meet in the Promenade Lounge at 3PM, are you going to go? If so, maybe the boys can meet there. The photo a few posts above has the boys in it so if your son sees Keegan around on the ship, please have him say hi. Keegan and my friend's son Jake (age 14) will probably be at the sports deck most of the time if Noah wants to hang out and play football or basketball.

We are actually flying down on Friday. My husband keeps saying one of these trips we are going to drive but we always end up flying out of BWI on a great deal from SouthWest. Fortunately this trip we are flying on "free" rewards flights from earning enough credits.

@hanover LMAO @ your husband...tooooo funny...at least that will always be memorable vacation!!

so I'm trying to hold off till Friday to do any real packing. Since the weather is changing, I have to make sure I have room for sweatshirts and some pants for us when we get back and go to MVMCP..ugh!!

What weather page are you watching? I've been doing accuweather and weather.com. I've found in the past accuweather is more accurate but I'm hoping with this trip that weather.com is more correct!

Well, here in WV, we awoke to our first snow of the season. Luckily, the ground is warm enough that it didn't stick to anything other than cars and the occasional patch of grass!

We are leaving Friday, driving to Ormand Beach (outside of Daytona) where we have a condo. We have been obsessing about our packing and trying to pack everything for the cruise as well as for the extra days on either end where we are staying at the beach! Luckily, we are driving so it isn't too big of a deal.

Looking forward to the warm temps and blue waters!

See everyone Sunday at 3:00! Everyone travel safely!

@hanover..I was checking weather.com....and orlando should be in the 40s thursday night of MVMCP!!

boy I'm really nervouse now..one more day till friday and I'm off. of course, now that I'm taking off, at work everyone is asking me for something..its like geez, if I wasn't going on vacation, no one would bother me lol..

I've been packing this morning, except for my DD's stuff. She told me this morning when I dropped her off at school for me not NOT to pack her clothes......she doesn't trust my taste in clothing :lmao:

I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off the past couple of days! Vet appointments.....My DD's science project that's due tomorrow (she waited till the last minute to do it, so I was trying to gather her supplies) My DD's band practices....she has an all county concert THE day we get off the ship!:scared: It seems like everyone scheduled everything the week we'll be on the ship!

I don't think that I'm going to actually relax until we are on the boat....I keep stressing about making sure I have everything:sad2:

@Hanover.....That is toooo funny about your husband!

I'm wishing everyone safe travels!

Yuck about the 40 degrees for MVMCP but at least we'll be in Orlando! I'm sure they'll have snow here!

I got the news I was sort of expecting but hoping not to hear from my surgeon. I still have to wear my boot and can substitute my sneakers from time to time. He made me custom orthotics with extra protection for the incision area. He also told me to rent a wheelchair or I may be in miserable pain. I'm holding off on that until we get there and see how I feel walking a lot. I can always rent an ECV there. I had one in October, but that was when my incision was still healing. It's much better now and doesn't hurt in the boot.

I'm hoping to get some packing done tonight for myself and the boys. I just so want to be in Florida now and it's stressing me out to think of all I have to try and finish for work tomorrow. I know I'll get it done, but it's stressing me out anyways!!

We are driving from Shippensburg, in the south central part of the state. I'm looking forward to the sunshine as well. It's been raining for 2 days here!

Susan

COLD and windy here in Cental Virginia today can't wait to get to FL! We are orginially from Lower Bucks County (Levittown) in PA!

NO packing here yet!! I did manage to get my Christmas tree which is a step forward on my list of things to do before I leave.

I checked the weather....BURRRRRR is all I can say! I guess I need to pack sweatshirts for this trip. :confused3

WORK...now that's a different story! Email went out that I was going on vacation for a week which translated in to OMG...Barb's won't be here next week let's send her all the work this week for the rest of the year! :scared1::eek: I handle corporate travel plans for goodness sake it's not like they can't live without me. :rotfl2:

We can't wait for Saturday and our 1st plane ride in 5 years. I am keeping my fingers crossed that my husband doesn't end up in jail.....he said he was going to only wear his boxers, flip0flops and a long coat to make it easy for security!:laughing: The funny thing is that IF I would let him he would! :lmao:

See you all very soon!

I work as a PT and experience tells Kenyon are NOT going to be able to weight bear the miles in the parks usually walked daily and will have swelling that could make your wonderful vacation a nightmare!!! And remember ICE is still gonna be your friend on this trip!!!

Thanks for the advice. I've been stubborn with not wanting help and I know I may end up needing an ECV again. I'm just so frustrated that I've been dealing with this now for 2.5 months from a splinter....

@ Hanover, I agree with DJBlu...don't be stubborn!!!

so of course today is going to be a long day at work. So I'm just counting down the hours. Its 10am. I should be able to leave at 5p today...cross fingers...then I'm doing my mani-pedi and walmart shopping tonight. I know I was going to do tomorrow..but I have a lot to clean in the house. I have the fridge to clean out, clothes to donate, car to clean, bathrooms to clean, rooms to organize, carpets vacuumed, dishes to put away, then I will steam mop my floors...it will probably be all dirty by the time I get back. But I'm going to put the fear of God into my brother and if I come home and the hosue is a mess, its not going to be pretty!!!!

I'll listen to my foot and if it hurts, I will definitely take it easy. Hopefully I'll be doped up on adrenaline and it won't bother me!

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that likes to come home to a clean house. My friends think I'm crazy to mop, vacuum, dust and change the bedding on the day we leave. I love coming home to a clean house and not feeling like I have to do it then. I just hope we come home to working refrigerators and freezers! On our last 2 trips, one each broke.

I have some things to finish at work today and hopefully will get some packing done tonight. Brennan did some of his packing last night after wrestling. He has wrestling once again tonight (5th session this week already)so I will stay home and let DH take him so I can pack.

I also like to come home to a clean house. After a nice relaxing vacation who wants to come home to dirty beds and dirty bathrooms? LOL

I'm almost done packing, and today I'm mopping and cleaning the showers. I took this whole week off from work and all of next week. I've never taken so many days before, but we get to roll over all of our leave time from year to year so I currently have over 300 hours of vacation time.....so it was time to make a dent!

I'm looking at my packing job so far and it looks like I'm packing WAY too much! I have a suitcase with just shoes and four other medium to large suitcases full of stuff plus my bag with shampoo, coniditioner, makeup, and all other needed items......am I packing too much??? For those that have been on a cruise before.....Should I take less??? I'm just so worried about getting there and not having enough shirts.

I'm the wrong person to ask about packing. I have always overpacked. I'd rather have too much clothing than not enough and I really don't like to do laundry on vacation.

I usually take 6+ pair of shoes but this time I'll be taking just 2 right sneakers and a right black flat shoe. I guess maybe a right flip flop too. As for shampoo and conditioner, I used to always bring my own but then when DCL went to using H20 products, I stopped taking mine since I really like their products. If you ask each day your stateroom host will replace them. I plan on bringing a day time outfit for each day we'll be in Florida, 2 swim suits, 3 pair of pjs and 4 pants/tops for dinner on the cruise. We'll be at the parks a day before and 3 days after the cruise so I'm planning on pants that can roll to capris. We'll have a washer/dryer so we can do the pjs and pants if we end up needing more than we pack. I was hoping to not pack our winter coats but the 40s at night is worrying me that our windbreaker and sweatshirts won't cut it.

We always end up buying a t-shirt or two so I will sometimes pack a couple shirts less than the days we are gone. Most of the time we get home and I have a handful of things I never ended up wearing. Like I said though, I'd rather have it and not need it than wish I'd brought more.

um If I could pack my whole room I would...so I always overpack it never bothers me that I do. I rather have more than less!! but I'm driving so it doesn't matter how many bags I bring.
