Dec 4, 2011 Dream

Tried to get the Palo Brunch as soon as I could, given "Gold" status. There were no openings (or for the high tea.) Guess we'll do the dash to queue up for a "slim-to-none" chance of getting on when we board.

I'm Platinum and couldn't get those either. I've done (and enjoyed) both, but I'm probably not going to "do the dash" once on board. There will be other cruises for me. Keep checking back for openings, however. We booked our brunch for our last cruise about two weeks before, and there hadn't been any available up until then.

Beth

Thanks, Beth.
I keep checking every day. You are right, though. There will be other cruises!

Just received a call from my daughter, looks like the other couple is not coming so we are back to one cabin and I will be sharing with my daughter and son-in-law.

Have to move that cabin to a later date so I do not lose my down payments. this has been crazy. first my daughters in-laws were coming. We had ocean view adjoining cabins but they wanted a verandah so we paid the xtra for the verandah. Then they said they were not coming so my daughters friends were coming. Now no one will be using that cabin.

I think that means that I will be taking a cruise in the fall next year. That is not a bad trade off.

Does anyone know if we are planning a "meet up" on board? I'm hoping Ian can suggest a good place and time for one once he returns from his member sailing this week!:cool1:

Well I am a happy camper. Paid my cruise off this morning and booked our condo for our post-cruise stay at WDW. Now the next couple of months just need to hurry up and go by so my husband can come home and then I know the time will fly before it's time to leave for our trip!

Does anyone know how well the kids club on board handles children with special needs? I'm on the fence about registering my daughter. She has autism and while she's very high functioning and a good-natured, sweet child, she has a hard time communicating. She also has a hard time participating in organized activities like crafts, movie watching, etc. She would rather freeplay with toys. When we sail on Carnival, this is never a problem, but I am not sure what to expect with Disney.

My daughter, Sistert, just called to tell me that the cruise is paid off. I had already booked us in our pre-cruise hotel and she booked us at the Wilderness Lodge afterwards.

We had thought there was going to be another couple on the cruise but at this point they will meet us at the park afterwards. We had booked a two bedroom suite using our DVC points for after the cruise so it does not matter if they come or not.

I do have a questions, does most people that are platinum, residence of Florida?

I will put my two cents in as to where to have a meetup...I find it too hard to locate anyone on deck, however, the District Lounge is located in the adult entertainment center as soon as you enter. During the day, children can be there. There would be no hunting for anyone and it will be quiet enough that we can talk.

Hi everyone this is our first disney cruise. My DH and I have been on cruises before but not with our children. This is their very first cruise ever!! We would like to participate in the FE. It would be myself, DH, DD's (14 and 7). I would love ideas about gifts, how it actually works(such as specific days or a gift everyday and/or one gift per person... ) I know so many questions so little time. :)

Hey! Welcome! How fun for your DD's! They will have a blast! This will be our DD's 1st cruise too but she will only be 21 months at the time. LOL. I have also started a group for us over on Facebook if you are on there. Just PM your FB name and I can send you a FR to be in our group! Some of us are getting to know each other pretty well there, as if you are into FB, like me you are on there more than here. Let me know!

Great that you want to join the FE! The person in charge of our FE is actually on the Dream right now, but I'm sure he will add you to the list when he returns! Now this is our first FE too but there are a TON of threads to give you more ideas about gifts. Just put FE in the search bar and check them out. For ours so far we have decided that Oct 1 is the cut off to join. Right now we have about 15 cabins and I think around 44 people total. You can do the gifts any way you want to. Some do home made items, some store bought. You can do just one gift per cabin, or one per person, one per couple. It's really up to you and what you are comfortable with. I think most of us enjoy the giving and the surprise of getting. I don't know yet if we will have specific delivery days, that will probably be determined at the final count. One of our members, Beth has created an awesome logo for our group which you can do anything you want with? Make shirts for your family, cards, hats! If you have any questions, just ask! We have an awesome group here!

That sounds like a great place Roadweaver. I was thinking on deck would be a bit difficult. Small and quiet sounds good to me. Let's just make it a quick (maybe an hour?) so we can get names with faces and introduce ourselves so when we see each other around the ship we know who is who. I know personally, our family wants every possible minute to explore the ship and do all we can in the limited time!

GREAT JOB BETH:cool1:

CAN YOU CHANGE THE GREEN MICKEY HEAD AND STACK TO MATCH THE SHIP?
How's this?

We live at the Jersey Shore in a community which is mainly summer residents. I can't get away in the summer months because part of my job involves working with the summer entertainment series. I have a lot of vacation time after all these years on the job, so we can travel a lot--but only off season! We live within walking distance of a New Jersey Transit station which will take us to either Newark Airport or Newark Penn Station, and from there it's a very easy trip to Florida. What better way to use up my vacation time?:rotfl: Once Jim retires in the spring we'll be able to get away more often, because he doesn't have nearly as much vacation time as I do, so I suspect that my cruise count will begin to escalate!

I agree that The District is a very good place for a meet. When we were onboard, there never seemed to be anyone there in the daytime at all!

Thanks Tessasmom for the warm welcome!! I would love to FB but apparently since this is my 2nd post I have to reach up to 10 in order for me to send a PM  so I guss I will have to get back to you on that one. Thanks for the advise on the FE's as well I will look up the threads and I'm sure I will get great ideas. Thanks for everything and hope to FB soon!

I agree that it would be a quick meet to say hi. This will be my son-in-laws first time on the Dream and he will want to explore.

HI EVERYONE, THIS IS THE FIRST DAY AFTER OUR 4 DAY VMEMBER CRUISE. I WILL POST PHOTOS WHEN WE GET HOME. IM SITTING AT OKW WAITING TO GO TO MK THEN MNSSHP. WE HAD GREAT WEATHER,THE ISLAND JUST HAD A FEW BROWN PATCHES ON LEAVES . WE HAD OUR DIS MEET IN THE DISTRICT. WE HAD )VER 100 IN THE GROUP. WE MET IN THE D LOUNGE. WE ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE SHIP NOW. WE HAD 1 DAY AT SEA AND 2 ON THE ISLAND. ON OUR CRUISE THERE WERE JUST OVER 3000 GUESTS. ONLY 200 KIDS. THEY SAY ON REGULAR CRUISE THERE ARE AROUND 1500 KIDS. FOR US THATS GREAT. THEN THERE ARE LESS PEOPLE AT THE ADULT POOL IN QUIET COVE. WE DIDNT FIND THE ADULT POOL TOO SMALL. THE WATER IS ALMOST FIVE FEET IN ONE END. BUT ALL YOUR GOING TO DO IN THE POOL IS TALK DRINK AND RELAX. WELL EXCEPT WHEN 30 OF US FOUND A BEACH BALL AND WERE BATTING THAT AROUND. WE WERE LIKE BIG KIDS:rotfl2: I MET BILL FARMER AGAIN (the voice of GOOFY) HE AND HIS WIFE REMEMBERED ME FROM LAST YEAR:rotfl2: THE SHOWS IN THE THEATRE ARE FANTASTIC!!!!!!! WELL IM OFF TO SEE THE MOUSE. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS I LOVE TO TALK DISNEY. PS. WE HAD 140 FEs TO GIVE OUT:rotfl2:OUR BAGS WERE STUFFED GOING DOWN.

Glad you enjoyed the Dream! Our cruise in February only had about 2700 people, most of them adults, so we didn't find things too crowded either. I really can't wait to get back and see more of the ship. For some reason, we spent a lot of time in our room...maybe because we had a verandah and just enjoyed sitting outside in the lovely warm weather, knowing that the ground at home was still covered with over two feet of snow! The water in the deepest part of the pool must be just under 5'4" because when I stood there only the top of my head was out of the water. For obvious reasons, then, I didn't stand there very long, but managed to tread water for a while! Enjoy your stay at WDW! --Beth My apologies for the lack of paragraphs in this post. For some reason, when I hit the enter key here on the DIS, my browser crashes:headache:. It's the only place it happens!

OK, mom has been doing all the talking for us but now that I've paid off the cruise, know for sure who's coming, and can see the light at the end of the tunnel... I'M JOINING IN THE FUN!

dvc deernut, thanks for sharing your experience on The Dream. I can't wait to see your pictures! How funny that Bill Farmer remembered you. Very cool! Did you get all dressed in your pirate gear? Did a lot of people? I can't believe you had 140 FE's to give out! Crazy. Only two more days until we have our final count, right?

Enjoy your time at Disney and looking forward to hearing more when you return.
