Dec 4, 2011 Dream

We booked when we were onboard last February. We thought we wanted to do B2B on Dream this winter, but it turned out to be a better idea (and a bit cheaper) to do a cruise on Magic and then on Dream. Of course, that gives us the best of both worlds--all different restaurants, shows, ports (except for Castaway Cay).

I just reviewed my remaining vacation days for this year, and I think this will be a REALLY long time off for me! Because we're leaving on Thanksgiving, we save two vacation days, and we won't return home until late on December 12. I'm going to take the rest of that week off (I think). I'm also out of the office the week of Nov. 14 for a business trip. I have to spend that week in Atlantic City. I know, that's a really tough trip, but someone has to do it! We're also off on election day and Veteran's Day, so I think I'll take off the two days between them. That means that I'll have almost two full weeks away from my desk, work three days and then be away for another three weeks!

Now I'm off to do all the fun things like laundry and dishes. Tomorrow I'm going shopping for some new luggage. Our 20 year old stuff didn't survive its last use very well, so I think we're going to treat ourselves to a "pre-vacation" present of new luggage!

So how long has everybody been waiting for this/booked? I had to submit proof to my boss that I had this planned before starting and saw I booked it when the dates were first released, wayyyy back in Nov 2009. That's a long time to wait!! Luckily we had our Labor Day Getaway cruise last year to tide us over, although these may be our last for a few years.

Im retired:cool1: been retired for 5 years now.I retired early. Laura is still working, she has been an RN at the hospital for 30 years. So I plan things around her days off. She gets 6 weeks. So we dont usually take holidays in the summer months. Usually in fall and winter. So this year we have 10 days middle Sept at Disney and Member cruise, 10 days beginning Dec at Disney then our cruise with all of you:cool1: and then back to Disney 2 days and then a week in Miami beach area. Finally this winter 14 day cruise in Caribbean, 11 different Islands(11 different Island Rums:rotfl2:) starting in Puerto Rico. Before I retired it was hard for us to go anywhere.

Speaking of our Labor Day Getaway...did we ever hash out a name for our cruise? What about December DREAMin'? Dreamy December Departures?

We booked in January of this year, but our original cruise date was 9/11/11. We had to change it due to my nephew's wedding in California. We decided to make this a birthday cruise for me and early Christmas gift when we had to change. I'm actually glad it worked out this way. Now I get a fun trip to LA and a cruise!

There was never any input on the name for the cruise...I like December DREAMin'!

Jim is planning to retire sometime around February. I have a lot more vacation time than he does, and for a long time I used to travel alone or with our son. Now that the son has four children of his own, he can't get away! I use a lot of my vacation time to stay home and work on some of my crafts, which is a lot of fun, but once Jim has more time off, I think we'll be traveling more too. I guess that's one of the benefits of retirement! Right now I'm planning on retiring in less than two years, but I think we'll wait and see what happens before I actually do that.

DVC Deernut - I am so jealous of your travel schedule. I hope you enjoy all of your amazing trips. The 14 day Caribbean one sounds amazing. I'm just testing the waters with this short cruise but hopefully will love it enough to try a longer cruise in the future. Have you ever taken a non-Disney cruise before?

Beth - Have fun luggage shopping today! Sounds like you have a super busy November/December coming up! I'm also taking a long vacation.... leaving 11/16 and coming back 12/10. Do you take your Magic cruise before or after the Dream? I'll be curious to hear your comparison of the two.

DynamicDisneyDuo - We just booked this cruise in June, and it still feels like a long time to wait! :hourglass As far as the name of the cruise, I like December Dreamin as well.

LittleImagineer - Welcome to the group!!

The luggage shopping didn't work out, but I did buy nine shirts and two pairs of shorts! Now all I need is luggage....;)

The Magic cruise comes first. We'll get off the ship on Saturday and board Dream on Sunday. We've already sailed on both ships and I really like each one for different reasons. I'll be glad to share the back-to-back comparisons! My one fear is that after a week on Magic I'll be hopelessly lost on Dream. It took the first two days of our other Dream cruise for me to figure out which way I was headed. For some reason, fore and aft on that ship just seemed to be reversed :rotfl:!

6 Years ago we hadnt taken any cruises at all. I didnt want to be stuck on a ship. Laura booked us on our first for my 50th birthday. I told her I would only go if we were also booked for WDW. Well I loved cruising so much I didnt want to get off the ship. Which was the WONDER:thumbsup2 The cruise in Dec wil be our 12th cruise. 8 Disney. Yes we have done non Disney cruises. We have done Celebrity and this winter the 14 day cruise is on Princess. Celebrity is a very classy cruiseline. Disney cruises are the 4 day ones for us unless a really good price comes up on their 7 day. You dont lose the QUALITY on Celebrity and Princess. We love CRUISING:banana:. We can see many Caribbean islands on one trip. Maybe one day we will do the 7 day Disney cruise to ST. Maartens and ST Thomas, both nice islands.

I like DISNEYDREAMIN as well.!!!!

BY THE WAY IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE DISNEY SHIPS LEAVING PORT THE BEST LIVE WEB CAM IS THE ONE AT FISH LIPS BAR. EVERY SUN AND THURS when the DREAM LEAVES and SAT when the MAGIC leaves. Right at 5pm.

Hey there all. So sorry that I have been away for a while, but I am finally back.:goodvibes It has been a crazy busy couple of months. So I am soooo excited because now my husband will be joining us for this cruise as well. Originally he was going to have to work, but he was able to work it all out..... YAY!!!:rotfl::dance3::cheer2::cool1:

I wanted to check and see if it was too late to confim us for the FE. There will be three of us in our cabin. They are Jennifer(Me), Chris (DH) and Betsy (DGma). We are so excited to see the ship all done up for the hiolidays. It is going to be amazing.

We were just the opposite! I didn't want to cruise, Jim didn't want to go to WDW, so we did both in May, 2001. I loved cruising, and he re-learned to love WDW. Most of our cruises were on Wonder, we've been on Magic twice, and Dream once. We've done both the Eastern and Western routes with Disney. We really enjoyed the islands of the Eastern Caribbean, and want to go back. As I've said before, our Western cruise was ill-fated, and the only port we actually saw was Nassau, so I can't wait to try it again!

We've only cruised on DCL, but are beginning to consider other lines to try out some new places.

Shall we make our name Disney DREAMin'?!? For those of us in the FE and personalizing??? Yes? No?

That works for me! That's exactly what I'm doing today, since I'm working on a project that is aggravating the daylights out of me!

Have we decided on a name? How many cabins do we currently have involved in the FE and when will the cut off be? I'm starting to work on my items and need both the name and number of cabins involved for my personalization. Thanks!

V-I have a list that Tlinden sent me with the current FE. Just send him a PM and he will send the list. There are about 3 that don't yet have their cabin #. I thought we had decided on the cutoff being Oct 1? As far as name goes, I thought we were still up in the air about that.

I don't need cabin #'s...just the # of cabins. I'm making one of my gifts, so I'd just like the # of cabins, I need to buy for, for 1 item in particular.
