Dec 27/08 NYE Western Cruise - Really New Thread

Ask Dede. Being from Chicago she should be an expert! What were you doing in Cleveland? New vacation spot?:rotfl:

Business - we launched Scholastic.com this week (WebSphere Commerce).

Though I think I'm vacationing here from now on!

no i'm not

grim pirate:

The ship will still be all decked out for Christmas (I think!) so she should fit right in . . . my formal night dress is all red . . .

thanks for the support :thumbsup2

Nan, I agree with Julie. NYE is still within the Twelve Days of Christmas!
And your mom can certainly wear the same outfit twice! It's sooooo much better than overloading with the packing.

As for having an official meet upon boarding, if we can do it before sail-a-way, I'll be able to be there. I have a massage scheduled during the actual sailaway time. If 3 PM sounds good, maybe we can meet in the Promenade Lounge at that time, before the life-boat drill, just to say hello. Our staterooms are listed on Anjelica's website, so if we want to invite others to meet up for clubbing, Bingo, coffee, whatever, we can leave notes for each other on the Fish.

Any thoughts?

Okay another vote yes ::yes::

and what do you mean you are having a massage during sail away !!! :scared1: :scared1: I need a drinking shopping buddy during this post time!!!! TIGG!!! I call foul. Okay Rus you are my drinking buddy and Brenda and Shell it's up to you to help me stumbing thru the shops and act like a fool when spotting our captain :woohoo: :cool2: :dance3:

Mom can wear what ever she wants, she's a hoot.:lmao:

ok, and for that she is now your offical Mother-in-law by the powers vested in me since I'm sailing on a boat and I think I control all around me POOF!!!!! watch out Artie I'll stick her to you too. (I'm still in fear that Paul is going to have to work and not come, so until I have that deal sealed I'm looking for others to hoist my mom on) (not really of course :rolleyes1

Also, if there are no objections, I officially declare a NYE Cruise DIS Meet at 3 pm in the Promenade Lounge. Be there or be square!

OKAY, but what about the lifevest drill????? I'm not sure how I'm going to get my mom there on time thru the crowds :sad2: Me thinks I have to figure that out before we sail, or right after we board....what time is the drill again????

Sorry, Marla!

Saturday Dec. 27th, sail day, 3 pm, Promenade Lounge.

This will give the dinner linkees a chance to give each other the once-over, in case they decide to run not walk to Guest Services to de-link!

Is that the worst we can expect? Our family may have to be on our best behavior.

Lifeboat drill is at 4:30 if I recall.

ok, so you think I should roll her out there early and then just wait for everyone to leave until we go??? I can't figure out any other way. I'll just have Paul bring us our life jackets, or maybe I'll have him take her and I'll bring the jackets hmmmmm, I should call and ask DCL about this so I don't freak out for the next month huh?

Yipee

ME tags arrived today

one thing off the list of things to do

:)

If you stick your extra Magical Express stickers to your car bumper, you might be a Disney Redneck.

Nan, I'm not understanding what you're concerned about. Are you worried about getting her to the drill after the Meet?

Nan, I would offer to take Paul's place and go as your Nanny

but a relative already going to FL with you might be a better choice (ahem*Lee*)

Nan is away for the weekend Aisling,

I don't know if she's gonna make it on here today :(

She is really concerned about the extra work having Mom with her is gonna cause. I was also thinking about the 3pm gathering we had at the Promenade and remember it being very short with a lot of no shows because it was so close to drill time. Maybe she'd be better inclined to join you if you made it for a different time~Maybe do your gathering during or just before sail away???

We had nearly a foot of snow last night, spent most of the day snow blowing. Can we ship some to New York for you Aisling?

We needed more time for pur 2005 Meet because we were doing gift-giving, so we needed that extra time. If the drill is 4:30 and the Meet is at 3, I think that's plenty of time just to "meet". We definitely won't need an hour and a half.

If I'm mistaken and the drill is at 4 instead of 4:30, I can see how that would be a concern about rushing.

Nan mentioned "should roll her out there early". Does she mean mom's in a wheelchair? Just an expression?

That would be great. I'd love you to ship all of it instead of some of it. When we get a lot of snow here, which isn't often, the whole of NYC goes into panic-buy every-loaf-of-bread-on-the-shelf mode. I love it!

Morning

Semi productive day yesterday - I went through my closet etc and pulled out clothes that I think I want to pack for cruise - of course - now to see what goes with what etc - but a major step for me

Typically when I get around to packing - I am just throwing stuff in suitcases and hope it goes together when I get where I am going

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We have TWO computer geeks here!

We went to see Twilight last night, it was good. There sure as heck were a lot of teenage girls in the theater, I felt kinda out of place.

Now I have to avoid the subject for a couple of days, because I think Claudia might make me read the books. I can handle that, it's the 10 page book report I have to do afterwards that really sucks. Sometimes it sucks to be married to a teacher. Good thing it's only grade 2, I can handle the curriculum. :teacher:

I have read the books and saw the movie on Friday . . . the movie was good but the books were so much better! So if you can avoid the book report issue, give the books a try:thumbsup2

Just had to share my good news!

I have been checking hotwire every so often to try and get the MCO Hyatt for Christmas night. Lo and behold I just checked and they had a 4star with 4.5 trip advisor ratings. I took a chance and got the Hyatt with taxes and fees for $82.00!!

I love all the things I have learned from these boards. I can finally cross that off my list of things I still have to do. All of a sudden this cruise is coming up really fast.
