I am an ex-pat living inthe US and am currently debating a quick trip home to see some family. I am wondering when most of the kids are off on school holidays.... March or April? What is the usual holiday over Easter?

I would rather visit when the kids are in school :)

It will only affect the cost of my flights slightly and more than likely I will only bring 2 of my kids with me so that school won't be affected here.

Thanks in advance:)

where abouts are you visiting?

It just school dates vary area to area.
In Leicestershire there are no holidays in March and for April its the last 2 weeks. :thumbsup2

As easter is rather late this year our school holidays are from 8th April until 26th April. This is for the north of Scotland though, think most English schools are not as early as we are, possibly last 2 weeks of April

It would be the Derby/Notts area :) Yeah forgot to mention that! Wold love to get up to Fife to see family too but that might be a stretch.

I seem to recall it's between the middle of April and the beginning of May for Derby

Don't forget that we have the royal wedding:bride: this year on April 29th, so that means we have back to back bank holidays. I think most schools in England are on hols for the last two weeks of April. Some schools go back Tues 26th April others have a teacher training day and go back on Weds instead. Then the fri is bank hol for "the wedding" and then the Monday 2nd May is another bank hol.

I was thinking either a week in teh 2nd week of March ( which would be the same week of my birthday and the anniversary of my Mums death:() or our spring break April 15th -25th..... hmmmm

Hi Debbie.DD breaks up on the 8th same as scottishmom till the 26th.I did question this as she normally breaks up the wednesday before good friday but this is correct. She is back till the 27th has 28th off and the following monday as a BH and the thursdy of that week as there is a teacher training day:scared1: She is in school 8 days in april.
I would probably go for the march time but obviously its less time to organise.
By the way guys this is the very kind person who got my money orders for me recently so I can finally get divorced(long story) and wouldn't let me pay for them so I am very grateful to her and hope she gets lots of pixie dust her way.

Our schools break up on the 1st April - 18th April then of for Good Friday, don't think there will be any school holidays in March

The Easter school holidays vary as discussed but the end of April is bound to be mayhem in London because of the Royal Wedding (which basically means the whole country is on a long weekend from April 29th - May 2nd). If you can get here in March, there are no holidays for anyone, school kids or otherwise! If not, then the three weeks following May 3rd should be pretty quiet.

Thanks for all the help ( and Hi Alyson) not sure what to do now.... Will keep you all posted:)
