devilduckie...I do not come from a "place of ignorance" as you accuse me of. If you were to read my comments regarding my sister in law, I CLEARLY spoke of ONE person and ONE circumstance.
I am well aware that there are psych drugs that have horrifying side effects. I am well aware that for many, they do not give the results hoped for.
I was NOT speaking for the masses...I spoke of ONE woman for whom the meds worked, and for whom the meds caused no ill side effects.
We had numerous conversations regarding her disorder. By her own admission, she felt "like a million bucks" when taking her meds, but it was her desire to manage her disorder without having to take medication. She mistakenly believed that the meds would cure her, and she would quit taking them every so often to "test" that theory...each time with devestating consequences. Two previous suicide attempts, and threats to kill her family members were the most common.
I also have a 22 year old nephew with bi-polar disorder, so I do not come from a "place of ignorance."
To take my SPECIFIC circumstance, and turn it into a GENERALITY is both irresponsible and unfair.
With all due respect, I suggest that you make sure you fully understand a poster's comments before responding. If you do not fully comprehend what was stated, it might behoove you to request clarification or ask for more information.
By not doing so, and by making assumptions that I spoke of all those with mental disorders, it may also be said that in this case, that you "came from a place of ignorance."
