:confused3 Not sure if anyone else is thinking this way or not, but given the current economic crisis must Disney not be wondering what the next few months will bring for tourism dollars? We've already booked our vacation for the last week of Feb,first week of March . Now im wondering if Disney might have some better rates coming down the pipe just to keep numbers up at the parks and hotels or am I insane?

You are not insane. :goodvibes

I think we are already seeing these kinds of discounts, with all of the new codes out and the Disney Visa free dining, which, in some cases, offers both a significant room discount and free dining. :thumbsup2

I am keeping my fingers crossed for similar deals for our March 2009 trip!:cool1:

this is totally my thinking too.... I am now just waiting to book another vacation during the winter/spring..... I am wishing for the deals of the 2002-2004 time frames!

Im not sure what Disney may have in mind if anything after the Christmas :santa: holidays but we're thinking free dinning ,which would be wonderful considering we have to feed 4 kids and ourselves or perhaps room discounts/hotel upgrades ,who knows but anything at all would be welcome ,even 'free' resort mugs :worship: . Maybe nothing will happen ,who knows but speaking for ourselves and having been involved in commercial agriculture for some time ,when cash is in short supply ,things like groceries become a priority and vacations are paid for with whats left over if anything:confused3 lol

I called the other day to see if a pin code was attached to my name. The CM told me that I did not have on but that Disney would be offering some incintives for the coming year. They would not elaborate on what or when but said that they would be attempting to stimulate business. I hope that is the truth. We really want to go in Jan, but will need a discount to make it happen. Lets all keepour fingers crossed.:)

Well, they must be hurting right now. I have received 3 pins in the last two weeks via mail and 2 via email.....It worked as we booked the free dining during Thanksgiving Break. It's nice to get free dining and not have to take the kids out of school :)

I have already booked for June 09. I am hoping that the current economy will send a code my way. Any code will do!!;)

Me too. We booked a bounceback trip for next August but I would really love a code to book the Poly! I keep wishing...................

Look at the last 2 years, there haven't been too many discounts other than AP holders and Florida residents. http://www.mousesavers.com/historicalwdwdiscounts.html#codetrends

I'd doubt they would have discounts during their busiest season, but hey it's WDW and those that visit during this time ( I call it the WORST time of the season to visit-large crowds & no discounts, uh uh, no way) can dream.

I know last year at this time- it was just approaching October I believe, I had a trip to Pop booked for 10 nights in January. I decided I really wanted to stay at POFQ and it was sold out. The marathon weekend was in there, and most resorts were sold out. I stayed put at Pop and it was at capacity most of the time we were there (Jan 5-15).
This year there seems to be tons of availability during that time, and even the small POFQ is not sold out. I called yesterday to add on dates to extend our time there this January, and had no trouble doing so at all.

I was thinking the gas shortage down south would keep people that normally take short trips away this year. Maybe Disney will want to make up some ground and offer us really good discounts after the 1st of the year.:hippie:

Looking at the last few years even discounts after xmas have been in short supply BUT the US economy had been moving along quite nicely, now with home values dropping, credit becoming tighter and all the issues involved with the banking crisis in the states not to mention higher fuel , air fare, and as of today the single largest ever drop on wall street? There are going to be job losses as result of all these factors. If I were CEO or chairman of the board at Disney or any large corporation depending on disposable income from its patrons, Id see two very real possibilities either breaking even or losing money.Losing money is never a good option so I'd be trying to fill the parks and hotels with as many bodies as possible and hope they bought enough mickey ears for jr and dole whips that somehow at the next share holders meeting Id still have a job. I dont really see the time of year as an issue ,this economic reality is going to be with America for some time to come no matter when you visit the parks. Some ppl have no choice concerning when they are able to go to WDW,many of us have multiple kids in school and job responsibilities that dictate when one can visit, if we all had 1 preschooler we could go anytime of the year and enjoy free dining and low crowd levels at our leisure.

Actually, remember for WDW what matters is the whole world, not just the US.

For the europeans, the US is cheap today. And that's where the efforts for next year being concentratated today.

My .02...

We can only hope for those discounts! My kids really want to go back to Disney, but with the price of groceries and gas, not sure how much we can afford to go. BUT...my 40th birthday is on a Friday next year. Would be nice to take advantage of that free entrance on my birthday, plus we have 1 day left on our hopper passes from last year(I got no expiration). We will have to see!!!:wizard:

Free dining in March would really make me consider Disney for spring break....:goodvibes

I am with you on the free dining! Though, we are planning to go at the end of March, no matter what....I just would like to see some or any type of discount....:goodvibes
