DD's surgery went well today...

Thanks for all the well wishes! DD slept like a rock last night... first time in a long time that I can remember ! Hopefully when she wakes up she'll feel well and then since it's so darn cold here , her and I can snuggle on the couch today while older dd is in school!:)

That's one good thing about the hospital we were at ,they allow one person to go into the operating room and stay until the patient is under-of course I had to wear a white paper jumpsuit ,booties and hat ... made me feel like a HAZ MAT worker!:lmao:

Isn't it a trip?!?!?! I looked ridiculous, DH said he wished he'd had the camera just for that. :rotfl2:

DD said to me " Mommy, I've never seen you dressed so ugly... then of course DH had to keep the ball rollin'::rolleyes1 !

Glad she had a good night!
I think maybe it has to do with the age of the child?:confused3
DS was 3 when he had his surgery and they let me in the OR too. I also had to wear that paper outfit.LOL I lost it too once I had to leave him there. He was so scared and screaming then the meds kicked in and fell asleep. I was hysterical! I have to say that was one of the hardest things I ever had to do.

That is fantastic news!! I tried to find the thread from yesterday so I could send you a PM but couldn't find it. I'm just glad it's over for you and for your DD.

When my son (6 at the time) had his done I told them about his loose teeth, both top teeth were loose but one was about ready to come out. Sure enough when I met him in the recovery room he looked like he'd been beaten up - lips were a little swollen plus the missing tooth. He had it in his hand in a little tube with a note from the toothfairy plus a dollar. I thought that was so sweet!!

I hope your DD heals super fast and feels great!! Keep us updated, okay!?!?

:rotfl: DS was only nine months when he had his first surgery, and had just turned 22 months before his second, so in my case the comments were all from DH. ;)

I have to say ,I'm so glad that the Dr that did the surgery reallys cares about his patients! He called me the day before the surgery to see how DD was doing and if I had any questions about the procedure .This morning he called to see how she did during the night and said if there were any problems or if I had any questions to call him .. I can't say I ever heard of a Dr. making direct calls to the patient!:)

My outfit wasn't paper, it was like a surgical gown plus paper shoe covers and an oh so lovely poufy paper shower cap. Quite the thing . I think there may be one other part I'm forgetting too. :sad2: Leaving them there sucks and after the first I said to DH that if we ever came to that situation again he was going in. Well, round 2 and there I was. It's just a mom job I guess. I also lost it in the waiting room. actually, I almost got wheeled down to the waiting room after coming close to fainting outside the OR- think I scared the child life specialist.

That's an awesome Dr!! The one my son had was very similar, very caring, went out of his way to make all of us feel comfortable. After the surgery when he came out to talk with us, he wrote down his phone number at his vacation house (not far from where we live) because he was going there for a few days and if we needed him we could just call. I couldn't believe it! What Dr gives out their home #??? What a great guy! I plan on using him for my DD too when the time comes.

Again, I'm so glad all went well. Now you can breathe a big sigh of relief and so can she!!!:grouphug:

How did she do today?
My DS10 is having the same surgery on Wednesday. I hope I make it through that morning! Looks like you held up pretty well.

My son was 15 when he had his out for the same reasons. It helped trememdously. I used to hear him snore all through the house and he was sick with strep often.

Be aware that the clots will loosen about 5-7 days or so and they can bleed then. Watch any bleeding at all and don't be surprised if she has more pain in a few days than she does today. It is a hard thing to heal from.

SHE DID GREAT !!Just a little pain but the tylenol helped alot! Her appetite is good and energy level is good also! You'll do fine ... the hardest part is just before they go under-then of course it's the time in between (the 15-20 minutes seems like hours!)Good luck to you and DS!:grouphug:
