DDP Users - what do you pay OOP for?

When we went last time we spent very little if anything on food with the exception of a bottled water here or there (we also brought some bottled water with us), tips and alcohol/beer. We had 3 adults and 2 kids and did the 1 snack, 1 counter and 1 sit down meal per day. We had tons of snacks left over on the last day. We are doing the same thing this year and am still thinking we will have plenty of food even with the baby sharing ours this time. We were just having too much fun to sit and use up all those snacks. :)

:lmao: Just realized reading some of the posts that I am being a bit of a hypocrite here  without even knowing it.

I have a somewhat atypical way of using our credits (DD8 and me). With certain restrictions on the child's menus I found it works well for us to use a fair portion of children's meals, carefully chosen of course, as substantial snacks to share. I then use my adult meal to share between us and often supplement it by buying a side OOP. Then I feel really pleased with myself that I manage to use all (or most of) the kids credits. Of course this compounds the problem of too many SC's left over at the end. So while I am merrily telling everyone to go ahead and use your SC's on waters, etc, I could use them on the sides.

Sometimes it takes someone else to lead you to the right conclusion .... :rolleyes1 Just thought I would come clean. ;)

Gratuities, is the number one thing we pay cash for. Also we pay for alcoholic drinks in the parks. We try to stay CL which has beer and wine included and available in the lounge for when we're at the hotel. Other than that, we would sometimes pay for an appetizer if we really wanted it. But that's about it! Food-wise. We buy souvies for sure! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Oh you too?? I grew up with that stuff. I don't even like peanuts or peanut butter but "real" peanut butter (aka America PB) is my ultimate indulgence. Then last year someone suggested I don't pack it for flying as it gives false readings on the security scanners (?????) at the airport. :sad2:

It is the case that always gets opened to be honest. I wrap four jars in plastic bags and then in older dirty t shirts in case they break but I never put gifts or valuables in the same case as it always always gets opened :goodvibes Worth it just to have a spoon of 'real' peanut butter when I get home.

We are on the deluxe plan and pay nothing oop except for tips. If you are on the regular dining plan, you might want more than one snack a day ($3-5) or a non alcoholic drink ($2-3)and at meals if you want an app.

Last year we paid for tips, bottled water, and an appetizer @ WCC (or would have but, since it came out with our dinner, our server didn't charge us. But we would have.). We used our SCs for our yummy treats and had no problem using them.
Now this year... we'll be paying out of pocket for CRT and Spirit of Aloha. And all the above mentioned. I didn't want to use up 2 TS credits for each of these. These are really just extra experiences that I found I had the money to afford for us.

Bottled Water or Soda.

We saved our snack credits for popcorn or ice cream. And we brought snacks with us from home to have in the room. We didn't really pay for much OOP. I guess 1 TS and 1 CS was plenty for us.

I do remember buying 1 meal OOP but it was on the first night when we arrived.

We do not buy anything extra, it is kind of like a game. Just pay tips with cash. We order the free ice water with our lunch and get a bottled water for our beverage choice to drink later in the park. We either eat a granola bar or some fruit we brought from home for breakfast (sometimes use a snack credit) and eat a CS lunch early, then do a TS dinner. Works great for my family.
