No problem if Disney is doing this to accomodate guests who don't enjoy TS meals. I have a problem if Disney oversold the free plan and Disney is using the CS swap and room service option as a poor value way to compensation for poor planning on Disney's part. The question isn't if an individual guest could have solved the problem by making ADRs, the question is does Disney have enough restaurant capacity to accomodate all the guests?
And I believe the answer is unequivocally yes. I don't believe that there has been an evening yet where, at 5PM, every single table in every single TS restaurant, in every single park and every single resort, has been completely booked. The problems I've read about were simply situations where a guest either waited until 6PM or 7PM or 8PM to start thinking about where to eat dinner, or refused to accept that at the last minute they'd have fewer choices and might even have to travel a bit to have a nice dinner.

Found this interesting. We wanted to possibly change our ADR for Concourse SH on 8/21. So I called Dining to see what was available. We are a party of 5, so I realize that there would be more options for parties of 2,3 or 4. I asked her to look for ANYTHING from 5:30pm to 7:00pm (we have 3 children so we don't want to eat later than that) and she said the computer would look for half an hour more from the time I gave her. Here is all that was available.

Biergarten 5:35pm or 7:30pm
GF Cafe 6:50pm
Marakesh 6:00pm
Maya Grill 5:30pm
9 Dragons 6:00pm
Trails End Buffet 5:40pm or 6:30pm
Yacht. Steakhouse 5:55pm (2TS)

I wasn't surprised that YSH was avail. since that is a 2TS rest.. I also wasn't surprised that none of the top rest. were available(except YSH). Maybe they were for smaller parties.

And keep in mind this is a full week out!! :earseek:

Man, I am glad I've got our ADR's and also glad WDW is calling people.

Off topic I know....but since there are some DDP experts here....I just want to make sure it's okay to eat at the same restaurant more than once in the same week on the DDP? (We have two different reservations at Boma.)

Probably 3 CS credits for 1 TS meal would be a fair swap, 2 CS credits for 1 TS meal would favor Disney. Two snacks isn't fair value.
It is for a child's credit.

I agree.

It's not the kind of meal I'd be looking for but Disney could, and might be, opening some temporary restaurants. Can be as simple as converting a CS restaurant to a buffet TS restaurant.

They did add lunch hours to a few places, and opened a buffet in the MK that will be walk-ups only. I saw two CM's report this. I will try to find details and repost it later on tonight.

I think it is poor planning on guests part that is the problem, but Disney's bad is the total lack of information given to people who book the DDP at the time they book it. If not for sites like this we would have known nothing in time to book anything last year. Disney needs to send out information packets when people book the plan.

Oh gosh of course you can! You could eat all your TS meals there if you choose, no one can tell you where to spend your money or your vouchers.

This new option will be great for us. We hate having to be anywhere at any time when we are at WDW, so although I made all my ADR's, I will most likely now cancel some and use this new option :) I like it very much!
