DDP Trade-in Offer...

Actually this sounds awsome for a day at Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival.

I'm thinking of cancelling my Teppanyaki reservation and doing this instead. 2 CS + 3 snacks at epcot for the day would be much better than 1 TS, 1 CS and 1 snack.

Though, I'm confused, do you have to get the snacks when you do the CS, or do they mean you have to use both vouchers at the same time?

In my opinion, I think they are still trying to lure people to the World during this time. If you can get AKL for $135 a night, you know that the resort is not booked! Same holds true for many of the other resorts, I found rates at GF for as low as 220 a night. People will call to make dining reservations finding some places are booked and it may turn them off from still taking a vacation with the dining plan. It is giving people more options still trying to get more people into the World with that plan.

Remember: All Dining Plan guests are paying for the plan, one way or another.

OMG Bicker! I just had to post and say we actually AGREE on something for once! LOL.

WDWO

The Average Joe has never even heard of the DISboard and doesn't have a clue how complicated the planning process can be. We still have friends that have never been to WDW and don't realize there are separate theme parks. I've also heard people that think US and SW and included in PH tickets. These are the kind of people that will be totally shocked that many restaurants are filled to capacity and don't allow walkups. They are the ones that will leaving feeling they have been "ripped off" and will tell anyone that will listen. Hopefully the new options will allow everyone to use all of their credits in some capacity or another and go home satisfied.

Yep...or don't know there is any such thing as a Park Hopper! :confused3

Or think once you get a room onsite, park admission is included! I've even heard them argue, "But the busses are FREE! Why would they put us on a bus for FREE if they were going to charge us to get in???" :confused3

It sounds nuts, but I hear those things every single trip.

These comments are just the tip of the iceberg the CMs will be dealing with for the next six weeks.

I agree this is CYA, although it will work out well for many families. I've been predicting a backlash against the DDP by those folks who thought the plan meant they'd just be able to walk up to a restaurant and eat. I've seen the calls to DDPers without ADRs as an effort to lessen that, and this tells me they've got a serious problem just around the corner.

I just can't see how anybody can not know they need ADRs. Every time I call Disney, they let me know how important ADRs are. And now, Disney is calling people to tell them too! I wouldn't go on vacation anywhere and assume I didn't need reservations for a nice sit-down dinner. A friend of mine went to DL recently and made all her reservations well ahead of time for restaurants in LA. People who fail to plan, plan to fail. :confused3

Has anyone heard anymore about this exchage? How will you make the exchange from TS to CS? At your resort? at the counter service?

I think it will work for my family. I have 2 little ones and sometimes we get to the end of the day and they are just too cranky to take to a TS.

Your hotel's front desk can help you convert TS credits to CS credits, on a one-for-one basis (and, of course, just that one way: TS to CS). FWIR, they have you wait until either you're out of CS credits, or the end of your trip (to help guard against folks changing their minds).

Here is what I was told today on the phone: All you need to do is tell whoever is ringing you up at the CS location that you wish to use a TS credit. They will then give you a voucher for your choice of a pin and lanyard, a poster, or 2 snack items. You may do this as often as you like or as little as you like. If only 1 person in your party has an extra TS credit that is fine, it does NOT have to be the entire party.

Neat new option. It's still not a good exchange, for my money, but now that it's official, it should be a lot easier.

Actually, it's a great option for my money IF I have TS credits I'm not going to use. I know, shame on me and all that -- but it's sure a whole lot better than nothing.

As I said at the outset, I think this is more of a riot-control device than a dramatic new breakthrough in maximizing the DDP, but it will work well for some who didn't "get it" with ADRs.

I also thought the potential use during F&W was intriguing.

Okay here's a spin on this. When they are converting your TS credits to CS how will you know if they are using an AC or CC? I am guessing they won't be seperating the 2 credits.

I think Disney realized that this IS one of those rare situations where "Failure to plan on your part DOES constitute an emergency on my part."

The proposal, if true, is not a perfect solution, but at least it gives families some other options.

Those of us here on the DIS can get all smug and call the non-planners "clueless," but they still paid a lot of money for their vacations, they're newbies just like we all were once, and Disney wants them to have a great visit.

And if WDW "vets" act like they usually do, I'm sure there will be a lot of frequent visitors taking time to help and advise the newbies - just like the help most of us got on our first visit.

I got a call from DDP last week that said someting like "Dining is very busy, please check your reservations" ... So they are trying to get people to think ahead.

So we can use the 2 snacks later???

From what I know...

When you arrive at the chosen CS place- just let them know you want to use a TS credit for the meal and the CS place will give the voucher (and a receipt with the voucher) Hold on to BOTH as BOTH will be required for voucher redemption

The snack option can be used at any time BUT both snacks MUST be redeemed at the same time (none of the 1 now 1 later...) Take both items to the register at any location that accepts them (same as any place that takes the normal snack plans) and present both the voucher and the receipt-

For the poster/lanyard... Take the voucher and receipt to a particapating location (the voucher lists all the places on the back- aka most hotel gift shops) and you are good to go..

As a Merchandise CM I was surprised how many vouchers we received on the first day and will be interested to see how many we get over the next few weeks...

Could you give some specifics as to the lanyard/pin selection - knowing we have a couple of extra TS meals because of being off site oone day this might be a good choice at the beginning of the trip to allow the children to have their pins and lanyards to start with.

A counter service meal at PM and two snacks would also be a good trade.

Probably 3 CS credits for 1 TS meal would be a fair swap, 2 CS credits for 1 TS meal would favor Disney. Two snacks isn't fair value.

No problem if Disney is doing this to accomodate guests who don't enjoy TS meals. I have a problem if Disney oversold the free plan and Disney is using the CS swap and room service option as a poor value way to compensation for poor planning on Disney's part.

The question isn't if an individual guest could have solved the problem by making ADRs, the question is does Disney have enough restaurant capacity to accomodate all the guests? It's not the kind of meal I'd be looking for but Disney could, and might be, opening some temporary restaurants. Can be as simple as converting a CS restaurant to a buffet TS restaurant.

Currently its a royal blue lanyard with one of two airplane pins on it. I don't know if its going to be the same for the whole promotion or not. Its a nice looking lanyard-
