DH and I are planning our next trip to WDW (May/June 08). We've never used the DDP. I'm not sure if we will or not. I'm in that planning stage of trying to see what will save us the most money. Anyways, I know how the plan works, but I'm unsure of the number of days we actually get to eat for. We are going for 12 nights, but not all days will be spent at Disney. 1 will be spent at Universal and another will be spent at the beach with FIL and MIL. Because our reservations for 12 nights does that mean that we'll still get 12 days worth of the DDP? Or is the DDP only the length of our park tickets (10 days)? Thanks for clearing this up for me :)

I believe that you can purchase for 10 days
the DDP plan is great, you will eat very well and the plan is well worth the money !!!

If it's possible to be on the plan for the length of our stay and not just for the length of our tickets that'd be great. We've heard/read great things about the plan. However, we're unsure if we'll be getting APs or not. So we're trying to see what will save us the most money. Especially since it's possible that we'll be returning for our anniversary/my birthday in October. Not to mention we've never been to MNSSHP, and I'd love that for my birthday present.

We are also staying 12 nights but only got a 10 day ticket. We have magic your way plus dining and that entitles us to a dining plan that matches up with the number of nights you are staying not the number of days on your park tickets. So we are getting 12 TS, 12CS and 12 snacks. We are also taking 2 days "off" site so we used up our extra TS with special meals that count as 2TS.

you can call the General Number for Walt Disney World and they will tell you for sure.... Also any way you look at it call a few months ahead of time to make you dining reservations. If you and your DH are planning on dining in the Castle you nned to make those reservations atleast 180 days prior to your trip. that books fast and it is SOOOOO pretty inside.

Your DDP credits are based on the number of nights that you are staying during your WDW reservation. So, for 12 nights you will get 12 TS, 12 CS, and 12 snack credits per person on your reservation.

Also note that details for the 2008 dining plan have not been announced yet and the plan could change significantly from its current terms.

I've read some of the many rumors here on the boards. I'm calling them rumors since they haven't been confirmed yet by Disney. I do realize it's a very good possibilty that we may have to pay for tips. That in itself isn't too bad because we can still dine at places like LeCellier for a little bit cheaper than paying for the whole day. We're just wanting to see what might be the cheapest as of now.

Thank you everyone for your input! it's exactly what I needed to know.

Uh no...that's wrong. You'll have to get it for the full 12 nights of your stay.

If you go to the DDP FAQ at the top of this board, you will find that one of the basic fundamentals of DDP is that you must purchase it for EACH night of your stay...regardless of what you plan for those days.

As the plan stands right now, you will get 12 TS, 12 CS, and 12 snacks, and you can use them from the moment you check in, until midnight the day you check out.
If you go offsite one day, and don't use any of your credits that day, you do not lose them, you can use them any other day (for example, use 2TS at a signature restaurant, OR eat 2 TS meals in one day.)

Happy planning!

I agree with DisneyMom5 as the plan stands now you should get 12,12 and 12 and really I think you only have to buy 1 park ticket min. that is how the AP people get around getting the DDP.
So I would think about going to the Hoop DE Doo or Poly Luau 2 TS and maybe one day do a breakfast at Boma along with a TS for dinner.
Maybe you could go to France in EPCOT and use a CS to pick up some sweets for breakfast the next day for you trip to the shore.
If you are going to not use alot of your credits it may be less expensive to pay OOP and not do the DDP.

If you eat away from Disney a couple of nights you can use your TS credits for Signarture Dining (2TS) meals and events.

I would also use CS credits for breakfast a few days.

Good luck with your planning.

You can initially get whatever length of stay tickets you would like, minimum 1 night, and then upgrade to an AP if you decide that's what you want.

.

are you saying that if an AP holder is staying at one of the resorts for multiple nights then they only have to purchase a minimum of one park ticket to get the ddp for the total amount of nights they will be there for everone in their party or is it one park ticket pp??

Each, but yes.

What if you are planning a split stay? We are planning 9 nights, but the first night will be value resort. Then we are staying six nights at AKV (DVC). Then we are staying the last two nights at value. We need park tickets also and are planning to buy the 10 day (no exp). This is complicated!!!! We would like to get DP on as may days as we can. DP experts, how should we handle this? Thanks

You purchase the plan for your DVC stay. Your plan will start at check-in at the DVC (your second day?) and will continue until midnight of your check-out from DVC. You would have to pay OOP for up until you check in to DVC and anything after midnight your second to last night.

Clear as mud, right? LOL

If you are purchasing the DDP as a DVC owner or point renter, you have no minimum ticket purchase requirement. (I believe.)

ETA: By my calculations that should get you 6 nights of free dining, or 6 TS, 6 CS, and 6 snacks per person, all of which need to be used by midnight the night you check out of the DVC resort.

Thanks. That's what we will do. We had thought about getting our tickets with the first night at value and getting one day DP, but have decided against that now as we're afraid we wouldn't want a CS and TS for all 4 of us in one day. Now we've got to figure out ticket stuff!!!
