Hi,
My family of 4 will be going with my parents. Does that mean that the gratuity will be automatically 18%? That is actually not too bad. :-) Basically about $20 per sit down meal. :-)

Thanks,
Matthew

I think it is only added automatically with parties of 6 or more.So if it is your 4 plus your parents then yes.It is added

I think it will be a lot more than $20 per sit down meal unless you eat at cheap places! I figured $40 for our family of 5.

I would also figure more than just $20 at an 18% tip...
Since your on the DDP I am ssuming you will be getting the entree, derrest and drink. Depending on where you go...our family of 4 has had a bill of nearly $200. So be prepared.

We're leaving in about 40 hrs :goodvibes I've got a family of 5 with 3 friends so I calculated tips based on average entree costs........ I've got anywhere from $20-$50. Our 2 grand gathering meals will have nearly $60 as added 'gratuities.'

Jumping in...but I have the same situation...
So even if our bills our are separate, they will automatically add 18%?
Just trying to prepare...and we are new to the dining plan...
Thanks...:goodvibes

yes...you will only pay 18% on what you owe (your bill)...not 18% on everything at the table. Assuming you will have more than 6 people in your party.

We are figuring approximately $20 in tips per meal for our family of four. We are eating at:

Boma $107.96 @ 18% = $19.43
Ohana’s $107.96 @ 18% = $19.43
Whispering Canyon $113.92 (this is if we all ate the most expensive entree and dessert on the menu and no appetizer = $20.51.

It can be done - just depends on where you're eating, I guess.:)

Yea, I went back and pulled some of my old receipts. I forgot 1 important fact. :-) My kids will eat off the kids menu.

The 6 of us ate at Kona's Cafe, Concourse Grill, and Coral Reef for about $120each time. And that included appetizers. So I would guess $20 is still in the ball park.

Lacy - Congrats on the Mickey's Mom's Club. It is a GREAT club.

I am sorry, but this is our first vacation with the DDP and I am confused about the 18%.
If our dinner bill for two of us comes to $100.00, we have to pay $18.00?
Does it get charged to our room key and we pay at the end of vacation or can we leave cash on the table?
Thanks, and sorry for the rookie question. Jennifer

No. If you have a party of 6 or more the 18% is automatically charged. You can pay in cash or on your room key.

You could leave less than the 18% or more as you only have 2 people.

Does an infant, 11 months, count as a person in the 6-person add on?

All persons at the table, including infants and anyone who isn't eating, count toward party size.

Please note: You'll be billed the automatic 18% only if 1) you are a DDE member (not the same as DDP; DDE is a discount program only available to AP holders and Florida residents) OR 2) you have 6 or more persons in your party. If you have DDP and there are only two of you, it's your discretion regarding the amount you wish to tip.

I have to ask. We are going on DDP it will be 6 of us most times dining together. Will 18% be added for us to pay or are we left to tips on our own? I knew tips were not included any longer but had not given 6 or more much thought.

As previously posted, if you are dining with 6 or more people then the 18% is already put on the bill.

You will probably be paying more than $20 for a tip for 6 people. We had the DxDP and regularly paid $30 tip (20% is what we always tip, so we didn't change it for vacation) on our dinners. That's for 2 adults and 1 child.
