Hi all,

We are on the DDP and we were reading through the 2009 DDP brochure and it says this for table service meals

FOR LUNCH/DINNER
e Appetizer (Guest ages 3-9 only)
e Entrée
e Dessert
e Non-alcoholic beverage

Is that a typo about the appetizers? Why would it be offered to the kids and not the adults? :confused3

Thanks!

An appetizer comes with the meal for an adult on the DDxP. I'm not sure about the regular Dining Plan, however.

i don't think it is a typo but from what I understand only the kids 3-9 get that app, not the adults, if you read it it does say that the app is for 3-9 only, thats why it has it listed app 3-9 only.

No, that's not a typo. She's looking at the Disney Dining Plan (DDP) not the Deluxe Dining Plan (DxDP). On the DDP there is an appetizer for the kids (usually vegetables & dip from what I've seen) but not for the adults. The DxDP includes an appetizer for the adults.

Yeah, I overlooked the details.

Maybe I'm turning into a man...

You know, I hate to say it, but the DDP is becoming less and less of a deal. I mean, doing the math with our upcoming trip, it really doesn't save all that much money any more, if any... even worse with Signature. I was just crunching the numbers and found with most restaurants and QS, it was essentially break even. It was a fantastic value with tip and apps included, and a decent value with apps. But they continue to up the price and take stuff away... its just not a value anymore.

It's a heck of a value when it's free :)

Well Yes... I agree 100% then. I just was crunching numbers tonight and it saddened me that they took a great value and destroyed it. Its almost a sucker play now unless you are on Free Dining.

I still like it...I like that all my meals are paid for in advance. We generally manage to still make it a savings because of where and what we eat.It also comes in handy when Disney slaps on the HOliday Surcharges

The appy on the 3-9 dining plan is not really an appy...they don't get to pick an appy off the regular menu.It is usually carrot sticks, applesauce, a sm cup of soup etc. Nothing we would really consider an appy

You are not reading incorrectly. On the basic dining plan only the children get three courses, because that is how the children's menu meals are set up. As a previous poster mentioned, the children's first course will be something like raw vegetable sticks, a small salad or some chicken noodle soup. They will not be able to select an appetizer from the regular menu.

On the deluxe plan, everyone is entitled to an appetizer at all TS meals except breakfast.

Before 2008, there was only one dining plan and it included appetizers for all. In 2008 Disney split the offerings into the basic (regular) and deluxe plans. You now have to pay for the deluxe plan to have appetizers included for adults.

DH and I agree. That's why we only get it when it is free.

I agree. I am buying it this time but I have to pay for 4 adults, but we are meeting my grown daughter and 2 grandchildren and it is a savings for them as she pays for her and 2 under 9.
