DDE? What and How

In reading some of the menus it states that you get 20% off if have DDE. Exactly what is this and how do you sign up? Do you have to be staying on site similar to the Dining Plan. Saving 20% while dining out sounds great. I have been trying to search the forums for it, but I can't seem to get the search to work. Thanks for explaining.

DDE is a discount program for annual passholders and Florida residents. You MUST be an annual passholder or a resident of Florida to participate. You pay a yearly fee and receive a card to present at restaurants that entitles you to 20% off your entire bill at participating restaurants. Most table service restaurants at WDW participate (with the exception of those at the Swan/Dolphin and Downtown Disney - few DTD restaurants participate). Very few counter service restaurants participate, usually those in locations where there is no table service restaurant. DDE has eight blackout days (major holidays) on which it cannot be used.

Well I am not an annual passholder or a Florida resident, so I won't qualify for this discount. Oh well. Thanks for responding so quickly though.

when the annual pass and DDE help pay for themselves. For example if you are going for a ten day trip and must stay at a deluxe resort and eat at table service restaurants then you may get annual passholder discounts for your hotel, forego ticket costs and get discounts when you eat out. Also, if a family make an annual pilgrimmage to WDW, they can make their second visit a couple of weeks earlier than the first and use the annual pass and the DDE for two separate years.

You have to fit within a certain category but for some people, even if they are not frequent attendees, it can save money.
