DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
In fact I lived in a town and the best #1 restaurant on Yelp was the hospital’s restaurant. It was a table service joint on one side and counter service on the other. Lots of people had their date night there!
This is the kind of fun fact that the internet should have been created for. Well, this, and pictures of ladies.

Exactly how else would you of known when you visit Castle Rock, Colorado you could have a romantic date at the hospital. Who needs the cinema when you can watch someone in full cardiac arrest.
Totally.
If we ever go skiing in CO and one of us breaks our limbs, I'll be sure for the insurance company to request I get transferred there for the gastronomic opportunity.

Best part for me is when my son was born at that hospital Dad’s meals were free and it was like room service style so you just called and ordered off the menu I think I gained 20 lbs.

Happy birthday, CCT!

That's just pregnancy weight.

I was the most supportive husband ever during my wife's pregnancies. She'd be like, "I gained 15 lbs over the last 3 months," and I'd say, "Hey, me too!"

One year into the COVID, and our # deaths is equivalent to our annual deaths from smoking cigarettes. I guess the little cloth masks don't help that. I wonder if the science has figured out what the government could do to prevent those deaths?

Don't mind me (as usual). Just the crazy conspiracy nut. I've been assigned more solo patients, and I may get my own floor (or 1/2 of it) soon enough.

Good to know? Eyes, two? Ears, two? Nose, one? Just checking...you mentioned arms, but who knows if you ommitted something. :lmao:

Maybe it wasn't impressive enough to count? That's what she said. :sad2::lmao:

Morning, Gents! Hope all is well with everyone. Day 2 is done and over with and was spent pretty much like Day 1: Watching training videos. I'm now all caught up on my training videos and and heading out to the offices today. Today's lucky office is actually inside one of the hospitals down here. Small enough to allow for training a new guy, so I'm looking forward to this. Otherwise that's all I've got. Have a good day and we'll chat at the other end.

TTFN

Training videos and hospital food. One is good. One is easy money. People complain about the food that goes to the rooms, so I guess that is the no salt option maybe.

That's just pregnancy weight.

I still have the pregnancy weight from my first child.

Out of curiosity...

Up here cigarettes aren't allowed to be advertised, nor displayed in stores that sell them. And the packages have warnings prominently displayed on them that tell you smoking will kill you.
Is it similar in the US?

And... on the same front. It drives me crazy when I see young people buying them/smoking them. I mean... When my parents smoked they were actually marketed as being good for you. And when I was old enough, they were just beginning to link cigarettes to cancer. I really don't understand how someone could be stupid enough to start smoking now.

Morning, Gents! Had a great day at the office yesterday. I spent my day at a specialty office, Rheumatology, and was told that the best way to learn was to do the job, which I agree with. First watch a few times, then do. Best way. With two stations at the front, and one receptionist gone for the day, I sat down and started working. By lunch I was pretty much checking patients in and checking them out on my own. There were times when I needed help with something, and the other receptionist was always right there to help assist, but for the most part, I was all on my own and I loved it. Training for a job is both exciting and boring. It's exciting because it's something new, but I hate it because I want to drive right in and get it done and start working and I can't because I don't know what I'm doing. I

That's awesome! Thanks.

Guessing that means it's CCT's birthday.

Happy birthday!

It is, or was, as I type this, my birthday. Thanks.

Thank you.

Happy Birthday CCT :bday:

Thank you.

Starting a new job is always fun. And I have never had a bad meal at a hospital. In fact I lived in a town and the best #1 restaurant on Yelp was the hospital’s restaurant. It was a table service joint on one side and counter service on the other. Lots of people had their date night there!

Date night at the hospital. That's funny. Who would have thought.

And Happy Birthday Sir!

Why thank you.

Happy birthday CCT. May your employment be permanent, your Dole Whip be frosty, and your plumbing bills reasonable.

Thank you....and I'm working on all that.

This is the kind of fun fact that the internet should have been created for. Well, this, and pictures of ladies.

Cats. Don't forget cats.

😆

Came back some time I’m the middle of the night. Don’t know when, just that it woke me up.

:thumbsup2

And happy birthday. Eat cake. All of it is okay.

Thank you. And don't worry, I'll eat cake...plenty of it.

 May I never get put in the hospital where salt on the food is a no no.

TV advertising ended a long time ago for cigarettes. Print ads? Not sure as I don't read a whole lot of magazines, but I don't think they're advertised there either. Camel cigarettes had a really successful campaign where they had Joe Camel, and you could get stuff with points/bought, something like that. They were eventually pressured to stop that campaign because it was getting young kids to pick up smoking....or so people said.

The main difference we notice when we are over your way is Drug commercials. This is not a thing in the UK, apart from headache tablets et al. Never have I sat through Seinfeld and thought, you know what, I'm gonna give that heart treatment function a go, that will fill a weekend.

I would have thought the masks catch fire as you light up, that can't be good.

Happy Friday guys from a chilly, but slated to be sunny and warm Orlando.

Planning on mowing the lawn, washing the bike and car and maybe a trip to the beach this weekend. Not warm enough to go in the water yet, but still good scenery(I may or may not be talking about the ocean)

Have a great Friday All!

It's always warm enough to swim in Florida.

Morning all. Waiting in line this AM for a drug test for HS tennis coach. They won't accept my drug test from a month ago when I was hired by the hospital. Good thing I pay taxes for the government to keep us safe.

And in my usual conspiracy nut theory self, an article disclosed Nevada mailed close to 100,000 ballots to the wrong address, and Biden won the state by around 35,000 votes. Maybe it's just fake news.

Now, I'm not a Trump fan. And in my opinion, our government has continued to fail us since Clinton, amassing incredible amounts of debt which will ultimately destabilize our country, potentially leading to hyperinflation and collapse. Sadly, we added another 1.9 trillion in debt a year after the pandemic started here.

Same here. We have closer to 900,000 cardiovascular deaths a year, which relates to obesity, smoking, etc. My point was for that and cigarettes, we aren't having nightly press conferences or issuing government lockdowns. I guess our country has reached that point where it's ok for some groups of people to die but not other groups.

Maybe that's the science behind why Disney won't let the bandannas and neck gaiters in the parks.

Morning folks.
Whelp, I didn't get called in this morning, which means my next time I go in to work is April 2nd.
Very happy about not working for a bit.
Now if only there was something to do over the next few weeks!
was told that the best way to learn was to do the job, which I agree with.

I seem to remember hearing something about that.

Yes! We watch quite a bit of US TV and that's something that always makes me shake my head.
"Try new Avera! It's the only cure for you! Ask your doctor to prescribe Avera today!
May cause blindness, uncontrollable explosive diarrhea, extreme hair loss except on your hands where it causes extreme hair growth, dizzyness, vertigo, projectile vomiting, tremors, stuttering, uncontrollable laughing especially at funerals, inability to talk or walk and death."

Interesting thought.
