Morning, Gents! Day 1 of the new job is in the books, and as expected spent the day training, watching training videos actually. Because my last job didn't have anything to do with Front Desk or Registration, I had to go back and re-watch those videos as a refresher. You see, the initial training videos they show you are generic and have a little bit of everything in it, so I had to watch them when I started even though I wasn't going to be working in those jobs. The job I'll be doing will focus on those roles, so I had to brush up on them, even though they are a bit broad based, they cover most of what I need for my job. Today I get to train in scheduling, something I'm looking forward to. That's all. Have a good day, gents, and we'll chat later.

Afternoon all from Progressive Care Unit. Things seem to be clicking better today, so hopefully, that's a good sign.

:thumbsup2

Enjoy the training. Hope you can pick up something permanent. Are you working with a temp agency or your company directly? Will the hospital hire you permanently directly or indirectly?

I'm hoping for something permanent as well. As long as I can do a good job then I think I'll be fine. I'm currently working through a temp agency, and if I do good, which I'm hoping, the hospital will buy my contract out and bring me on full time.

Morning from a sunny Westfield NB. DD is getting ready for school and I'll drive her there at 8:15, the down to where I used to work for a day or two. It's time for the annual health and safety program review and update . I have run their program for 15 years and they want me to train someone to take it over.

Looks like we are both training today. :thumbsup2

Just finished mine. Refunds for both myself and DW.

I guess you owe? Or, just demoralizing how much is taken out in taxes and how little we get in return?

My grandparents had given me some US savings bonds 30 years ago. They finally fully matured last year, so I cashed them in. It was a nice payout, but the government took their bite when I filed my taxes this year. So I ended up owing a decent amount. We still came out ahead in terms of the money we made on the bonds, but that bite was painful.

Worse, I just discovered that if you file your 2020 tax return, they use that number instead of last year's number when determining your eligibility for the latest stimulus package. And that might have put us over the threshold. So I might have cost us more money by doing my patriotic duty. Sigh.

Sorry to hear that. And... interesting. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't pay any taxes on that. We don't pay taxes on gifts. Then again, if I was to buy one, I'd pay taxes on the interest earned, so maybe not so different after all.

Stop being so honest! I mean... politicians (i.e. government) lie to us all the time, so isn't it expected??
Big guy turns 20 today
Happy birthday to Declan!
Good job on knocking up your wife, 20 years and 9 months ago, Darcy...
:lmao:

I don't believe we can even buy Canada Savings Bonds anymore. The interest rate was so low nobody wanted them.

Happy birthday, Declan! (for real this time)

So yes, I believe the tax was on the interest earned over that time.

Not surprised. I know I never bothered getting any for just that reaon.
Congrats on keeping a kid alive that long! You want a 3 and 2 year old boys? I am about to give them away for free.
At least if they're not considering me a fool.
Why should they be any different from the rest of us?

:duck:

Got it.
Was it easy to get it?
Well... Doc's not the best at rolling up his sleeve, so for him it wasn't so easy.

Happy Tuesday. On PCU again today, and discharging people like crazy. Problem is they just put new person back in the room, and we just do it all over again. Sadly, job security isn't a good thing. But, I've helped 2 people today get what they needed, and they were really happy.

I was being more general in referencing bourbon. I was drinking Peerless Bourbon and Michters Sour Mash.

Michters is good bourbon.

That's good to hear. They do that here to in the factories, but not at the hospital as far as I know.

Yes, the return is bad. Sorry to hear it.

Last year was crazy for me too with all the vacation payouts. But, there were so many taxes withheld that I got a refund. I didn't look to see if I'm eligible for Stimulus 3.

Had an appt at the VA today. While there, was able to get first covid shot. Pfizer. Go back on April fool's day for 2nd. At least if they're not considering me a fool.

I'm double vaccinated. No 3rd arm growth yet.
