DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Actually, -40 is the same. -30C is -22F.
Not that it matters. -40 vs -30 still means you're gonna freeze to death really soon.

That's why I said about, at that point it doesn't matter.

First day of work in the books. It seems to be about what I expected. I'm scheduled for training/ shadowing for the next 6 weeks Monday to Friday, so I won't see much action for awhile. And, that's alright with me.

Morning gents. For all of you getting or slated to get the snow, sympathies and prayers to you.

Your sympathies while you enjoy the 60 degree lows? I hope to join you one of these days.

I'm on the southern edge of it. It's always interesting how the weather patterns happen here. The Chesapeake & Delaware Canal cuts through the state about 1/3 of the way down, and often the storm effects are different on each side of it. I also lost count of how many storms don't run south of I-95. It's weird how the weather knows exactly where the interstate is.

With this storm, anything north of I-95 is getting dumped on with snow. My area is getting a mix of rain/sleet/snow.

We are on the Ohio River, and have watched thunderstorms follow the river and not hit the city. It's a really cool phenomenon. Not sure why it works that way.

Actually, it was closer to +30F. With freezing drizzle... which is "really bad" for airplanes.

I got to be on a few of the de-icing crews for the planes at UPS. Never the sprayer in the bucket though as I was afraid if heights. Usually, most of the high seniority guys stuck around for that job though.

Actually no...we've been down in the 40s and possibly 30s tonight. Don't like it especially on the bike.

The sympathies are genuine...we used to get pretty cold and snow/ice on occasion in Atlanta. Really didn't like it, so sorry for those of you that have to deal with it.

I'm not gonna lie...I'm also real thankful I don't have to any more....except it still gets really cold for here. :sad2:

Morning, Gents! Well, as expected, the nor'easter for me was a non issue. Yes it did snow, and looked pretty in the process, but it didn't stick at all. We got rain for most of the day and winds at night, so that was about it. Works going well and, well....that's it. Have a good day.

Interesting how that works. It reminds me of that quote from a Robin Williams movie, "Good Morning Vietnam(?)" where his character says, "Don't go near there!" I guess that's how it works. Mother Nature sets boundaries and tells the weather to abide by those boundaries.

That's right, first day. Sounds like it went smoothly. Are you happy?

It is funny how that works. Happens out here in Massachusetts all the time.

You mean like here where it is pouring down rain on one side of the interstate and sunny on the other?

Nah, never mind, that never happens
:lmao:

Morning All.

Our storm just started here about 2 hours ago. Could be an interesting couple of days as it looks like 6 to 12 inches of snow followed by ice pellets followed by freezing rain and then rain tomorrow. Good times. Rob is a bit south of me so I think he may be in the more rain zone.

Hope you all have a great Ground Hog Day and someone get Dan a Snickers.

I think he just needs a butty
and someone get Dan a Snickers.
A cheeky bacon butty (good job on the anglification) and a cup of tea makes all things good.
The Snickers can't hurt.
The bourbon will definitely be later.

I've come to an informal agreement with my VP that I won't respond to emails that I deem to be contentious until tomorrow, for all our sakes, as I seem to have picked 3 fights in 4 hours, but I will agree that my "are you taking the p!ss" compass seems to be glued to north at the minute, so people may not be on a mission to wind me up.
My high point was when a supposed construction manager asked me the detail on how to suspend a ceiling.
Apparently "the clue is in the title" was not a totally inclusive and engaging response, so I agreed not to send that particular instruction.
Happy Days. We will all look back on lockdown and smile at these times . Apparently.

Morning, folks.

Up too early on a day off, which is par for the course after a midnight shift.
Went for a run and during the 5K, managed to run the 2nd and 4th K at just a hair over 6 minutes. Haven't hit a 6 minute K since I got injured last fall. Hopefully that's a sign that things are improving.

Afternoon all from a chilly mother country.
My fuse is shorter than the 7 dwarves' height chart today.
Woe betide those who send me snarky emails at work.
Uh, oh. It's never a good thing when someone uses "betide" in a sentence.

And yes, I did have to Google it.

:scared: Yikes!

Possibly for the best.

Morning from a snowy Westfield NB. Just sitting back having a taste of Rum and watching the snow plows go by.

It's about the same forecast here Darcy, about 6 inches on the ground now and changing to rain late this afternoon

I think he just needs a butty (bacon makes everything better) and a bourbon.

Maybe a Snicker's too.
You covered all the important food groups. :lmao: :lmao:

In other news, I'm starting to enjoy hockey. And in true English fan style, I can't just enjoy the game, I need a team to ruin my day. I Am suspending my rule of having to support the first team I saw, as I'm not lovin the Canucks uniform. Shallow, I know, but there it is. And I was so drunk at the game I haven't got the foggiest who they were playing.

For the record -30C is about -30F.

Actually, -40 is the same. -30C is -22F.

Oh, just let me make my cheap, easy Canada jokes.

We are on the Ohio River, and have watched thunderstorms follow the river and not hit the city. It's a really cool phenomenon. Not sure why it works that way.

I'm sure it has something to do with the temp of the water relative to the temp on land. Bodies of water usually retain heat better, so I'm sure that affects the way the air above moves.

I'm not gonna lie...I'm also real thankful I don't have to any more....except it still gets really cold for here.

What's that, 72F? (See, Darcy and pkondz, I can make cheap, easy Florida jokes too)

You mean like here where it is pouring down rain on one side of the interstate and sunny on the other?

I've always been more fascinated in Florida about how the storms know exactly when it's 4:30 p.m. every day.

My fuse is shorter than the 7 dwarves' height chart today.
Woe betide those who send me snarky emails at work.

So you came here for snarky comments instead?

someone get Dan a Snickers.

Discretion is a good idea. I've had many an e-mail war I came to regret later.

Not too shabby!
