DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning all.

Crappy drive in this morning, lots of ruts and ice on the roads. Hope it is better by the end of the day.

Dan, another win for the Habs last night, 5-3 over the Canucks. I think you picked the right wagon.

Morning, Gents! Work's going well, and I'm making progress towards reaching my goal of indexing 100 documents a day. While my count isn't official (I keep a running count of what I index), that comes from my supervisor who has access to the official count for everyone, I believe I reached my 100 count goal. I hit it hard in the morning and early afternoon, but the problem comes after 2pm when everyone clocks out for the day. You see, one of my co-workers works head of me clearing out documents I'm not able to do, which leaves everything else for me. This means that I can move pretty quickly early in the day, but in the afternoon, when he's off the clock, and not clearing a head of me, I catch up to where he left off, and thus have to filter through documents myself. No problem, well, small problem, in that it does slow me down, but I'm still able to work and tick off a few documents. I'll find out officially when I log on this morning. Well, that's it, guys, have a good day and we'll chat throughout.

Day 2 in the books. Today included the COVID floor, and the amount of precautions are just a bit more than a cloth mask. I arrive home smelling like cleaner/ disinfectant each day, so I guess that's a good thing.

:thumbsup2

We've talked about the option of going further south in Florida, maybe even the Keys. But, I doubt we could afford something there. I'd like to pick up something in the panhandle area we could enjoy for the next 10 years, and then move further south after that. China's economy is expected now to surpass ours in 8 years. Who knows what the future holds.
Would this be a permanent move or a vacation home? I'd love to move to Florida after I retire, but I know the Mrs. would never go for it.

Assuming you didn't want the snow, then it sounds like a good day. It was just cold here.

Yeah, I was good without the snow. Usually I want a good snow storm, but this year? Eh! I like my four seasons, even the one by Vivaldi, see what I did there? :teeth: But this year I'm all about getting to Spring as quickly as possible with as little snow fall as possible.

Just computer training and tours, so not really working. But, it is the work I did when I first started working 25 years ago, just in a hospital and for more money. All the scenarios sound familiar. Let's hope this is analogous to riding a bike.

While training is necessary, I always hated it because I'd rather just get in there and start working. Always did hate the feeling of not knowing what to do.

I've seen the line of rain stampede across the ramp at the airport. That was some impending doom as there was no way to escape the downpour.

I use to work at the airport in Albuquerque, NM and it was always interesting to watch a storm blow through the airport. Fun times.

Morning guys, still bizzy bizzy bizzy. Seems like I inspired Darcy with the whole Friday Lycra/Camel stuff there.

What type of tea is your favorite? Type? Brand? I found I really like Earl Grey the best thus far.
Depends on the time of day mate.

Our favourite tea seller is Fortnum and Mason, you can buy it loose by the pound. The shop is not far from the office, and when I go into the West End I'll pick some up. I like the whole thing about making loose leaf tea. Its also a beautiful building. Funny enough, I almost worked for them. When I took the job in Bricksburg I also was at contract negotiation stage with them. This is more fun, F&M was more top end but high maintenance.

My go to is English Breakfast
In the Evening I have an Earl Grey

Both with Lemon, never with milk.
In the States in restaurants it's generally Liptons which is fine enough.
I do mainly drink coffee though.

I watched the highlights this morning. Nice to see I am on 100% winning record.

Have a good one fellas.

Afternoon Dads! Been a bit edgy work related myself past couple of days. Can't fix stupid so I'm a bit better now telling myself that. Sorry about all the snow but kinda what you get when living in the areas you do - I do not miss the Chicago winters. With all the hockey talk, if any of you north of the border here any updates on Jonathan Toews health situation up there please pass along as we aint getting much detail which makes me fear it's something pretty serious. PK he's originally from your part of Canada if not mistaken. Well, that's is for today ...............

Anyone else hearing this guy when you read what Mike is saying?

That's actually where I got it from - gonna have start streaming this show on Hulu - great show.
Welcome! The only correct answer is the Philadelphia Flyers. Don't listen to Darcy, he has terrible taste in sports teams.

"I need a team to ruin my day"--Yep, just double-checking this meets your criteria.
I hear you haven't been able to get a beer in Philly since '75 - NO CUPS
Need to go Original 6, Go Habs Go!
Blackhawks are an original 6 and aligned with your Bears & Cubs allegiances
I had no idea. The Habs it is. Hopefully I can get to see them in December. Fancy it?
See Philly comment, can't get a beer in Montreal since '93 - NO CUPS
So the Leafs losing streak will continue, to become 54years without a cup. You were our only hope Dan.
Get Jeff to start picking whoever the Leafs are playing everygame - longest win streak in pro sports will be the result :rotfl2:
I don't think you're missing much Rob, in my 40 odd years on this planet I've seen my teams win exactly 4 competitions. 4. Out of about 180 cumulative years of play. West Ham 12, Bears 85, Cubs 16, West Ham 80.
Should be the Blackhawks my friend - best Jersey / Sweater in sports

After the redskins, I give the jersey a couple of years. Its gotta be next on the list.
I cant give Chi town any more love mate. And like I said, I'm feeling my commonwealth roots.
GO HABS!

From right here, actually. But I haven't heard anything either.

And day 3 is in the books. All the computer trainings are done. I have a patient services training in the morning and then I'm on the floor shadowing for the next month or so until I'm skilled out. This has really moved by quickly.

Two cloth masks???

Not even close. Thankfully, I don't have to work that floor. There's a reason the science (and Disney) ruled out bandannas and neck gaiters.

Unless it's ammonia.

::yes:: Not that bad. It's not a bleach either. Smells like the Purel foam hand sanitizer from the dispensers.

Good work. Is there a minimum # you are supposed to reach a day? Or, is that the 100? Are they weighted?

Depends on the time of day mate.

I'm used to Lipton tea. Definitely didn't have a Fortnum & Mason at the store. DW said Twinings was the best brand in the store. I've tried green tea (ok), chamomile (terrible), & Earl Grey (best). They had an English Breakfast, but I figured I would try it and chai tea the next time. And, I only add a small spoon of local honey.

Worse if it's formaldehyde

::yes:: Definitely worse.

Morning, Gents, from a slightly snow covered, and I do mean SLIGHTLY, Cape Cod. It snowed jjjuusssstt enough to make it look pretty. It'll be gone by mid-day. If you remember from yesterday, I said I thought I had hit my 100 indexed document goal...well I didn't. I was about 15 documents off, and I was none too pleased. I was truly irritated, not at anyone or anything, so I'm not mad at my supervisor, just irritated that I thought I had hit my goal and didn't. You see, I tick off on a note pad how many I index, and I thought I had figured out the formulae for the report....apparently I didn't. What I'm trying to is to get an idea of how well I'm doing, and where I stand at certain points in the day, I like to know, and I was annoyed that I didn't make it. Oh well, on wards and upwards. In other news, I got my first of two COVID shots yesterday. I was emailed early afternoon from someone in HR asking if I wanted the shot, so I took it. My arm is a bit sore where the shot went in, but nothing that I can't handle. The second shot will happen the end of Feb/early March. I've been told, and have read, that the second shot really lays you out. Better than actually getting COVID, I guess. Well that's it. Hope everyone has a good day.

Maybe it's the fact that loose tea leaves are floating around in my cup, but I prefer bagged tea to loose. As for tea, I prefer a black tea, Liptons, Twinings, etc. The Mrs. buys Newman's as 100% of the profits go to charity, and it' s a good tea.

That's both cool

And disturbing

I'm surprised someone makes a, well, whatever you call that, for a camel.

Amazing how quickly the training goes, isn't it? I was told that I'd have a week to learn the computer systems and what not. Yeah, 3 days is all I got. Thankfully I'm a quick learning when it comes to hands on stuff.

Good work. Is there a minimum # you are supposed to reach a day? Or, is that the 100? Are they weighted?

Unfortunately I didn't make my 100 indexed document goal, but I'll get there. I was never told of a minimum each day, but I was told that if I can get to 100, then I can get to 150...so the goal keeps moving up. And that's fine because it keeps me on my toes and something to work towards.

I'm used to Lipton tea. Definitely didn't have a Fortnum & Mason at the store. DW said Twinings was the best brand in the store. I've tried green tea (ok), chamomile (terrible), & Earl Grey (best). I prefer black tea, myself, though if someone were to offer me green tea I'd take it. Had Earl Grey, like it, but prefer Twinings, Newman's or Lipton. English Breakfast is good, too.

Morning All.

Looks like a bit of a mess here today. Temps around the freezing mark, bit of drizzle on the way in, possible flurries later today and most likely slippery roads when the temps drop a bit. Should be a good day.

Have a good one all.
