DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Thanks Dan!

Just spending all day at work with people that I'd rather not be around! It's going to be amazing!!!!

Oh and meeting with a roofing contractor to fix my roof! How's that for fun times??!?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
That is possibly the most British response I have ever seen on these boards. Well played indeed.
No visit to Buffalo Wild Wings? For shame. Have a great birthday anyway mate.

Survived a 2 hour phone conference call with soon to be retired job#1. All the work I submitted back in April was finally reviewed last week, and I need to make 3 corrections. Those three corrections combined took less time to complete than the conference call. I am now to do a video project due in 2 weeks.

Clear the roads and watch out!!
BTW they do not become adult or responsible when they start driving. It actually regresses about 3 years.
My oldest just turned 20 and still hasn't caught up with being more responsible with a license than without.

But you can title the car in their name when they turn 18. Great on the liability.

So officially made it thru a full week of Keto. Had some great dinners but really noticed how many carbs I eat in my lunches and snacks. Still trying to get used to feeling different, can't bounce back after a hard day work, was able put in 6-8hrs out in the heat take an hour or so break for some food and nap then be good to go for the rest of the day. But I'm struggling to get thru a full day if I'm pushing and working hard, and there is no chance to recover before the next day.
On the good side I'm down almost 15lbs the first week. But man I miss beer.

I'm still doing Keto, although I've been snacking way more lately. I'm drinking the Michelob Ultra in the aluminum pint bottle. It's something. Not good. But something.

The tequila is better, but one can get loaded quickly that way.

I watched some over the weekend, I still can't get on with it, it looks like we are watching a training match. The Dortmund coach injuring himself celebrating was pretty amusing. Prem starts this week, West Ham I think will be relegated. There. I said it.

I only have MLS. Almiron played for Atlanta in MLS and was their #10, but not the top goal scorer in the league. He signed with Newcastle as an attacking midfielder and finally scored a goal almost 2 years into the Premier League. Bundesliga looks like Champions league.

Norm closed on his new house in golden oak and is paying for all of us to come visit.

Only in my dreams Cliff. If I ever hit the lottery, I could restart my own Kentucky version of the Hillbillies move to Golden Oak. It would be a great party for sure.

Pretty sure the winning lottery numbers were posted
Again?
Weird that no one takes advantage of that. I guess we're all modest folk.

You sir, know how to party.
Happy (probably belated?) birthday!

Yuss!!!! I'll bring Timbits.

When's your retirement date? Can you sluff it off?
Only in my dreams Cliff.
So, the meet's off, then?

Morning all. Another beautiful day and another day of sick leave. The rest of my retirement paperwork packet came in the mail yesterday, and it's a packet. Government efficiency at its finest. If only they could create something that stored and transmtted information electronically.

post padder :rotfl2:

YUUUP!!!

I enjoy tequila, it's my go to for liquor but I prefer beer for the afternoons.

::yes::

When's your retirement date? Can you sluff it off?

August 31. But, I have 2 weeks of vacation and 3 weeks of sick leave to burn. I've found that my first attempt effort is as good or better than the others I work with. So, I'm doing the Costanza, looking super busy, but should have this thing done in a few hours. I'll just have to sit on it until June 29 before submitting.

So, the meet's off, then?

???????

Morning, Gents! Been kind of MIA the last few days again, but as I get closer to the end of the month I spending more time online looking for work instead of playing. I've also been spending a lot of time looking at videos on YouTube of resume building, interviewing and what not...so lots of constructive YouTubing. I had a pretty good weekend. A very close college friend came to visit, she's basically my sister from another family, so that was fun. Went out on Saturday to look for shoes, FINALLY!, and it was just me and her. I spent the entire drive to the shoe store complaining about not being able to find work. She listened and then offered up support, which is exactly what I needed. My wife's heard it all and I feel bad for constantly complaining to her. Ok, enough of me complaining about work. I took yesterday as a half-day to drive down to Cape to apply in person at a rehabilitation/nursing home combo. Applying in person is a dying art, but something that was encouraged in the ad, so I took it. Besides, they see your resume directly rather than an applicant tracking system, so better chance of getting contacted...well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. 😁 Should I sacrifice a virgin cockroach to help me? Of course, that begs the question: How can you tell if a cockroach is a virgin? Ok, I digress... Unfortunately the guy who I was to talk to wasn't there, but the receptionist did say that he'd be in contact about an interview. I hope she's telling the truth, so maybe they are really looking at everyone. The position I applied for is for a medical records position, which would be great to get into. A lot of medical coders will get their start in records, so I'm hoping to get that chance as well. I don't have experience, but I do mention that I am changing careers, and I have mentioned my medical coding course, medical terminology and anatomy and physiology course on my resume and cover letter, so I'm hoping that'll get me some extra points....I need all the brownie points I can get. Would dancing help? :dancer::dancer:I do a mean dad dance. 😆 Have a good day, Gents!

TTFN

Wow, that hurts.

Yeah it does, but I'm working on getting something. "Now where's that number to the Chipendales?"

Yea that tugs at the heart strings - hang in there

Thanks, man, appreciate it.

Ouch. Prayers for a resolution to your struggle.

Thanks, man, appreciate it.

Ouch, mate that's tough. All the best. Hopefully something will come up soon.

Thanks, man, appreciate it.

That's tough. I've worked out of town and missed the occasional event, disappointing my girls. That was always the worst. I know I can't time travel, but hope that my sacrifices set them up for success.

It is the worst, but sometimes necessary.

Gotta love government efficiency.

Morning gents.
Let's see... broke the 6 minute mark on 1K last Saturday, that was nice. Did 3K yesterday and might do 2K today. Still waiting on that elusive 5K, but won't attempt it on a day I have to work (at 3pm). Plus it's too hot (high of 32C/90F) for that.

Amateur...

Atta boy. ::yes::
You didn't close on the Golden Oak place, so no party there.

Well... okay. Understandable, but don't make a habit of it.

You went shoe shopping... with a woman... and are happy about it???

By the way they rub their legs together.

Morning gents

A day of mowing the lawn ahead of me.

Possibly getting out for a walk after that if the mood and energy strikes.

Artemis Fowl? I’ve seen a bit of chatter on the FB page about it. Anyone else watch it?
I will have to be honest. I thought it was terrible and nearly turned it off halfway through. I found it confusing, I couldn’t follow the plot and really didn’t get invested in any of the characters. I generally like sci-fi/fantasy. I didn’t read the books and I suspect it is better on the page with more narrative.

A day? Just how big is your lawn????

Heard a bit about it, but kinda figured I'd have the same experience you're having.

Hey, we have computers. Mine finally got Windows 98 up and running.

Um...what? I feel like I'm missing a reference here.

That's too hot for just about anything.

You went shoe shopping... with a woman... and are happy about it???

I have not watched, but I really haven't heard good things about it at all.

Afternoon chaps from a Sunny London. Cells and little tiny numbers today that add up to great big numbers. Livin the dream.

It's just called a roach, as it hasn't had any..
I digress, now where was I?

Remember to tack on a minute per mile every 10f over 70, that's par. Good luck bud

Is that the thing on Disney +? Yeah, not bothering wi' dat.

Back to the grindstone. Grrrrr.

Sorry, won't happen again. 😁

This time I desperately needed new shoes, so I had no choice. Besides, I told her she wasn't to shop and/or look for anything. As a result, we were in and out in a half-hour.

By the way they rub their legs together.

That's it!

Um...what? I feel like I'm missing a reference here.

It's an old saying of mine I've used for years. You know, sacrifice a virgin to make sure things go well? Except I add in cockroach.
