Morning all. Retirement packet #1 almost completed. I have to have my leave balance verified, because the original pay stub from 15 years ago might be a forgery. Good news, it is verified in the computer system. Bad news is that they have to use the computer system to handwrite the information on a paper form, scan form, email me the form, and I can print and fax the form to the right office. They won't be able to get to that until next week. And, still waiting for packet #2.
Yeah it does, but I'm working on getting something. "Now where's that number to the Chipendales?"
I tried the Chippendales once. I made a lot of money as the women paid me to put my clothes back on and leave the stage.
By the way they rub their legs together.
I thought it was when you flipped them on their back and they put their legs in the ready position.
Hey, we have computers. Mine finally got Windows 98 up and running.
I still have my windows xp computer with all my music and photos. I don't go online with it.
That's the before and after (and yeah, there's a bird nest built into the old fixture). I've changed out a lot of lights in my day so it's a fairly effortless task. Well... except for getting permission to do the work that is. The new abode also comes with a fairly aggressive HOA, so that took far longer then the actual work.
O joy...
I actually need to spend some time weeding, as I've been given notice by the HOA on the topic, but on the up side, I have permission to wait until it stops raining (I did say that they are fairly aggressive).
Add me to the list of non HOA fans. We bought in our subdivision 20 years ago as the 15th house. Now, it is finished at 150 or 200 homes. We only pay $120 a year for HOA, and they do lawn care in public park & entrances. There are restrictions on parking, trash cans, types of fence material, etc. But, they aren't enforced. Sure, the nosy neighbor will complain, but the HOA isn't going to drain the money to hire a lawyer over the grass being an inch too tall. So, it's like most of the other laws in the world - good neighbors will be respectful of others and a$$hats won't. As our next buy will be a condo, I still be stuck with HOA.
When you buy a home that has an HOA, the HOA is a legal entity and you have to sign (and pay dues) to buy your house. That is exactly why I've avaoided them...nobody should have the right to tell me what I can or can't do with MY (okay, mostly the bank's) house.
If you do not abide by their (often militant) rules, you can be taken to court and even lose your home. Supposedly, they maintain home value, but with some of the fees I've seen, they're more a money pit for the privilege of having them abuse you. Sorry, not sorry...#NOTAFAN
Agree. Since it was out first home, I didn't realize just all the power that was given to an HOA over property. The ability to file a lien on a home over non-payment of $120 is ridicoulous.
The good news is DS finally got word he will go to MEPS in Knoxville next week to see if he is healthy enough for the military. His aptitude scores were very good so it is just the physical stuff now. The challenge is we are having a spike in COVID-19 in the county so he needs to stay healthy long enough to get there and get approved. I'm not sure who is more impatient, him or me.
Good news for your son. My dd has returned to consider the welding program. She even applied at a tractor supply store and had an interview.
For me, if I'm going to drop that kinda coin on a house, I don't need someone telling me my grass is too long or can't paint my house that color or can't park Norm's RV there or any other "Cynthia" items.
I think we all can agree the most important takeaway is letting me park an RV in front of your house. Since I retire 8/31, I could be there in a day or two if DW let me.
