DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
I still can’t believe you’re not coming over to see the cubs. ;)
I'm really tempted. We'll have to see what finances look like next year (and vacation) because I'm planning on seeing a couple of our Northern neighbors. Although after seeing that video Darcy posted, I might be a bit worried...I pronounce it Zee not Zed.

Welcome to Monday. What's worse? A Saturday when your AC goes out. Capacitor went out after 19 years and a $150 fix. 1 1/2 days in the heat? Yeah, I don't like the good old days.

Hopefully you can just buy the two months you need now and ride the system to the end of the contract.

I think you have to buy them in year increments.

Happy Sunday from a hot and humid KY. Pop up showers in the forecast but the damage is already done. I put $200 of insecticide on the hops Friday AM to control Japanese beetles and then by mid-afternoon we got hit with a torrential downpour. I could never farm for a living. Big plan for the afternoon is to check what I have left in the flex spending account if anything and get it spent before midnight. We can always use Ace bandages and first aid kits if nothing else.

Ace bandages on your farm crops? You would survive in the wild as long as I would.

Morning boys from a glorious London. Town Hall presentation to Lego peeps today, so spent most of the morning remembering stuff for that. Busy weekend with MLB and Harry Potter, both of which were cool. MLB was a bit of a slug fest, it looked like the pitchers were struggling with the bowl atmosphere or the new surroundings, or had been on the lash for the night. It was a short field, but there was a ton of walk as well. I was struggling to remember a 12 run, 17 hit, hour long first inning with 2 pitchers retired. Cubs/Cardinals next year, so that's the one for me.
The difference in knowledge in the crowd between this and NFL was marked though. NFL you can sit there and the guys around you can pretty much call the game, this seemed a lot more touristy. Maybe because of the teams, or it was the first one.
Harry Potter is amazing, and I'm not much of a Potter fan. If you are ever over on our small little island, I would highly recommend it.

Have a great day fellas.

Glad you had a great day watching American sports.

Well, it's good to have a plan. I'm sure all of us would prefer plans that don't cost us $20K, but at least it's a plan.

Not happy with that, but at least I can escape before I lose it all. I've not run all 14 million scenarios like Dr. Strange, but I can't figure out another solution.

I hate to break it to ya mate, but like Darcy and his brethren, we pronounce Zed the proper way as well.
You’d be more than welcome in London though....

Obviously, it's not fortunate in that it had to be done at all, but fortunate also...$150 for an AC fix is cheap.

Morning All.

First day in the office in a bit. I was happy to find it in the same place as I left it.

Streaming some Wimbledon on computer number 2, Kyrgios playing right now and his antics don't disappoint.

Have a good one.

Morning, folks.
Gonna be a bit of a busy one today.
Just called Jenn-Air to arrange for a service call (oven stopped working. Well... it works in that it turns itself on and you can't turn it off without throwing the breaker.) $140 just to walk in the door. :sad2:
Next call will be the dentist for a chipped molar. I hate going to the dentist. Last time I went for a cavity, the needle caught a nerve and my tongue felt numb on that side for months. More calls to follow for other stuff that's got to be done around the house. Told the rugrat that I'd drive her to work. Then maybe I'll get to my deck which is a work in progress.
Gotta drop something off at my parents' place later.
All that before I go to work this afternoon.

Wife and daughter seemed fine, I might have had something in my eye.
I did find it a bit dusty at the end too.

Gonna be a bit of a busy one today.

Yikes, sounds like enough for a few days, much less one day.
The cost of service calls on appliances are crazy. Depends on the appliance, how old it is, cost of a new one, but I am tempted to say appliances are disposable these days. I had a microwave die on me a couple months ago (over the oven fume hood model). I can't remember if I mentioned it here, but I figured at $450 for a new one, I was just as well off doing that rather then get someone in to try fixing a 9 year old microwave. Even though it was probably something simple like a fuse.

Well, a new oven would be minimum over $1,000. Probably closer to $2,500. So this time it pays to fix it. I mean... it shouldn't be that much, should it????? :faint:

Busy. But got lots done already. :)
Easy fix would be nice. Cheap would be nicer.
Think it will be neither.
Thanks. :)

Ouch. Computers make everything easier until it repair time. We don't have any smart appliances in our house. But, once these go out, we will probably have to upgrade and well.

You could go with this option.

Or fix your oven with an Ace bandage. :lmao:

Add this for the bacon you will cook.

Good to have those on hand for when the EMP arrives and the excrement hits the rotating atmospheric disbursement device.

Or fix your oven with an Ace bandage. :lmao:

::yes::  Ace bandages are almost as useful as duct tape.

Finished work for the day, have to take DW for cortisone shots in both her shoulders. Happy Tuesday.

Had one of those for a frozen shoulder. Amazing how good a shot can make you feel.
