Frustrating morning. Started off with little sleep because SWMBO is coming down with bronchitis. :crazy2: Left her sleeping in the recliner and she decided to come to bed around 2 AM. She hacked and wheezed for 1/2-hour before I got up and moved to the couch but then she gets up and starts swearing at the Nyquil bottle because she couldn't get it open. :sad2: Kids had a 2 hour delay because of the cold so I took DS to the bank to open a checking account and they wouldn't open one because he is only 17. :headache: So now he has to use a debit card from the McD's (his new employer) to withdraw his own money from an ATM and be charged a fee to get it. I'm not happy with his employer either as they are only giving him 2 hours a day after school Monday-Friday. Only a 10 minute drive across down but pretty inconvenient for me and he can't get his intermediate license until May because of a 180 day waiting period after his permit. Dealing with elderly parent issues like several of us and to top it all off my brother starts a text to me this morning "it isn't cancer...". Apparently it is something only ~800 people in the world get each year. Aggressive, benign, but non-operable. I'd best keep the ouzo cabinet shut today. Oh well, I am still on the green side of the sod and as DD keeps reminding me "Cheer up dad, at least we aren't living in Syria"

praying

odd.. must be a new trend. My son, 18.. tried to open a bank account recently and they said no. Something about not being able to confirm he was who he says he was.. he has id, drivers lic. ss. passport and yet.. NOPE.. this was fairly big bank too. i don't get it.. ?
Okay, that's weird. Did you ask the bank staffer to prove who they were since the level of ridiculousness was off the scale?

Oh dude...sorry.
Praying.

For DS, you should be able to open the account with him. If suggest finding a new bank, because being 18 should not be a prerequisite for an account. I'd further suggest trying to find a credit union because you can withdraw from any credit union atm (not just yours) and if you have publix, their atm(presto) is also free for CU members.

Same issue with my DD for
Top O the Mornin Dads and Happy Friday Eve! Trying to get the day job requirements done in between all the parent stuff going on so same stuff here. Have a good one gents and everyone hang int here with the weather and life's challenges several of us seem to be managing through. Including Doc at MK with 4 layers and hood on - really :)

Nice meet up guys! Really Doc, 4 layers and a hood on? At DaWorld - geeeeezzzzzzzzzzzz

Let's keep our "areas" covered please. I have seen more areas of my FIL with his hospital stay than any person should be exposed to.

On the Declan part, yes they grow up too dang fast. Been fun watching him grow a bit through your stories and pics. You and the Mrs have done a nice job with him, congratulations to you both and enjoy his final HS term!

Positive thoughts and Pixie dust sent your way, hang in there.
Well, it was 4 layers including the hoody and YES, it was cold.
Besides, I was ensuring my areas were covered, thankyaverymuch!

Grand champion tennis today. Just because everyone else was 20 years older has nothing to do with it. :lmao:

Well...I'm not looking for any titles, but happy to meet up with folks for sure. Them on the other hand...
I heard Rob muttering something as I was leaving about what a royal jerk, so I may not be the best ambassador. :lmao:

Maybe he couldn't hear you thru all those layers.

Dude... No one wants to see you expose your "area".
.

:scared1::eek::scared1:

Beat me too it. I was think of half revealed with Norm yesterday and now Darcy is vying for the Sep calendar entry with exposing his area.

Neither half is looking good these days.

Nah mate, we'd be beating back the ladies with a stick on launch day. Licence to print money.

What? They pay us to close the calendar and burn it?

I opened one for dd last year when she was 16 at Republic Bank. I had a joint savings account with her since she was young, and then we added a checking account just for her so she could direct deposit pay & have debit card. The checking doesn't have my name on it.

Just wait till Doc has lived in Florida for a year. It will be 7 layers then. :lmao:

Thanks. We just closed his CU savings yesterday because it is 2 hours from where we live and not convenient. His plan is to enlist in the Air Force and we wanted a bank that was more convenient for me in case I had to do anything for him. I checked the other bank here (only have 2 in the county) and they said I could open a checking account with him but I would be the only able to write checks on it. Defeats the whole purpose. Not sure what is going on. I had my own checking and savings when I was his age.

While I'm not saying that isn't possible (I don't know the bank, of course) it still seems odd. Maybe try talking to a different person?

After umpiring last year in GA in the middle of summer (98-100F on the field), I think I'm already acclimated to the heat. I wanted it to be 5 layers, but compared to some of the other locals I met, you might be right. ;)

I just reserve the right to joke about y'all if you come down in summer months. :rotfl2:

I know it's all in good fun, but there is a reason(well several) I dislike the cold. I got frostbite in my fingers years ago and the cold physically hurts! That's just part of why I wanted to move here.

Call me a wuss if you want. I'll "warmly" say with regard to cold, yup!

Happy Friday. School canceled again here. Not sure what I will do today, but I'm sure bourbon will be involved somehow.

Always like those extra special magic moments. How was SDD? Can you compare it to 7DMT? I think 7DMT is way too short for my legs.

At one of our trips to Vero Beach, it was 70 degrees in the evening around the bonfire. The staff were wearing the Disney coats. Everyone else was in shorts and tshirts. It's a nice problem to have.

I understand. I can't wait to move some place warm and sunny if I can ever afford to retire. I grew up off the snow belt of Lake Erie and lived in Syracuse for a couple of years. Back then I actually liked winter. Now with blood thinners and other joys of aging I'm cold even when it is 70.

Have couple of fingers of bourbon for me. I'm not fussy so you can have the cheap stuff. 2 hour delay for my kids. After Wednesday's cancellation we are out of snow days for the year already and anything else will eat into Spring Break or extend the school year.

Morning, fellas. Hope your preparations for the Big Game party are coming together. I'll be spending the day smoking pork shoulder and brisket tomorrow so come on over if you can brave the cold.

Can't say I'm super excited about the game--it's the team that shouldn't be there vs. the team nobody wants there.

Sorry it's been a rough go. Hope you get some good news soon.

This should be a Man Law.

Oh, come on. Nobody's that stupid. :rolleyes1

Morning, boys.
The cold finally broke and it’s a comparatively balmy -19C/-2F.

Well, there you go. Things are finally looking up!

Always like those extra special magic moments. How was SDD? Can you compare it to 7DMT? I think 7DMT is way too short for my legs.

SDD is slightly more intense than 7DMT--a couple of nice hills and speed. Maybe between 7DMT and BTMRR. I think it has a bit more leg room.

Morning Guys,

Another cold one on tap for the day.

Been a busy day so far. Did an interview because of the cancellation of a major international sporting event that was to be help in NB in 2021. The organizing committee submitted a bid for $17 million when they were awarded a couple of years ago. When the government changed this year it was found out that the actual budget was $130 million. Given this province is broke, that wasn't going to fly. Been an interesting few days.

DS played his last game before out version of the "tournament" kicks off next weekend. The imploded a bit this week so hopefully they can work out their issues before next Friday.

Have a good one all.

Thank you Sir.

Well done!

How do you make an error (or was it?) of that magnitude???
