DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Nice! Doc's a great guy. :)

Thanks Doc. Doing okay. :)

It's like I've seen this somewhere before... not sure where.

Nice jacket, Rob.
Curious... how cold was it when that shot was taken?
For me....stinking cold!!!!
For Rob...balmy.

I think it was about 45F at that point.

Not trying to multi quote

 gee thanks, I think yhe same about you.

Glad to hear it.

Vuja de

I had on 4 layers and was wishing I had 5.

Morning all. Survived tennis last night and picked up another match this morning. Thankfully, it's all the old guys today so nobody runs and we just hit, spin, slice the ball at each other till someone hits it in the net. One of those unspoken rules.

We usually pick up a case of water and a case of beer while there. But, it's nice to try some Mexican tequila even at Disney prices.

I drink to your lapu lapu. At least I'm known for a stray foot and not something else dangling in the picture.

That is a scary situation. I tried to stay home and avoid everything yesterday.

Doc will soon be the new DisDad meet up champion, if not already.

Well...I'm not looking for any titles, but happy to meet up with folks for sure. Them on the other hand...
I heard Rob muttering something as I was leaving about what a royal jerk, so I may not be the best ambassador. :lmao:

Morning all.

Had enough snow yesterday to just create a messy drive but today is all good, the polar vortex found us (-25 with the windchill). The key to avoiding frostbite in these temps is to not expose your areas.

The weather forced a schedule change for DS. We were suppose to travel up river for his final league game but that got moved to tonight. Today is also the beginning of his final term as a high school student, man time flies.

Have a good one all.

So. Last night I get a call to come in early and work 16hrs. Shoot. Already promised DD I'd drive her to school since it's cold (-40)
It takes me 30 minutes to drive to work. I ask to take my lunch hour early and race home to pick her up. Pick her up and promptly hit a patch of ice and wind up on top of a snow (ice/snow chunks) bank.
Run back home to get shovel. Shovel out car. Get help from 3 guys and push the car out. Drive her to school.
Get back to work an hour late. (Guys are great, they covered for me)

Get text from DD. Classes were canceled.

Glad to hear that everything is all good.

Yesterday about noon we had a snow squall blow through here with white out conditions. About a hour or so later, it hit PA and caused a 40 car pile up. Were you in PA yesterday?

Dude... No one wants to see you expose your "area".

Thanks. Just gotta get the car repaired and take the hit on the insurance.
Beat me too it. I was think of half revealed with Norm yesterday and now Darcy is vying for the Sep calendar entry with exposing his area.

Frustrating morning. Started off with little sleep because SWMBO is coming down with bronchitis. :crazy2: Left her sleeping in the recliner and she decided to come to bed around 2 AM. She hacked and wheezed for 1/2-hour before I got up and moved to the couch but then she gets up and starts swearing at the Nyquil bottle because she couldn't get it open. :sad2: Kids had a 2 hour delay because of the cold so I took DS to the bank to open a checking account and they wouldn't open one because he is only 17. :headache: So now he has to use a debit card from the McD's (his new employer) to withdraw his own money from an ATM and be charged a fee to get it. I'm not happy with his employer either as they are only giving him 2 hours a day after school Monday-Friday. Only a 10 minute drive across down but pretty inconvenient for me and he can't get his intermediate license until May because of a 180 day waiting period after his permit. Dealing with elderly parent issues like several of us and to top it all off my brother starts a text to me this morning "it isn't cancer...". Apparently it is something only ~800 people in the world get each year. Aggressive, benign, but non-operable. I'd best keep the ouzo cabinet shut today. Oh well, I am still on the green side of the sod and as DD keeps reminding me "Cheer up dad, at least we aren't living in Syria"

Let's keep our "areas" covered please. I have seen more areas of my FIL with his hospital stay than any person should be exposed to.

On the Declan part, yes they grow up too dang fast. Been fun watching him grow a bit through your stories and pics. You and the Mrs have done a nice job with him, congratulations to you both and enjoy his final HS term!

Positive thoughts and Pixie dust sent your way, hang in there.

Nah mate, we'd be beating back the ladies with a stick on launch day. Licence to print money.

Oh! Dang... :worship:

You're smarter than me.

But... can we have one calendar to print money with and one to look at? The former will easily pay for the latter.

Ugh. Sorry about that.

I took DS to the bank to open a checking account and they wouldn't open one because he is only 17. :headache:

Go back. Open a joint account for the two of you. He can have his own debit card and no fees. I did it with both my DDs when they were both much younger than 17. I still have one going with the 21 year old. The 18 year old just closed hers.

my brother starts a text to me this morning "it isn't cancer...". Apparently it is something only ~800 people in the world get each year. Aggressive, benign, but non-operable.

Not good. :(

"Cheer up dad, at least we aren't living in Syria"

Or here.

odd.. must be a new trend. My son, 18.. tried to open a bank account recently and they said no. Something about not being able to confirm he was who he says he was.. he has id, drivers lic. ss. passport and yet.. NOPE.. this was fairly big bank too. i don't get it.. ?
