DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
I think I will avoid tennis from now on, just in case. (Like I've ever played before.) :jester:

I hear it like dancing with Shakira...

I hope you can heal up in time for the August trip. If not, you can zip around in an ECV I guess. Is that an upside?
Just hoping I can get in the pool with the kids.
I hope it heals quickly for you. I think I will avoid tennis from now on, just in case. (Like I've ever played before.) :jester:
Thanks mate. Yeah, stay away from the courts, they are lethal.
Aw man, that sucks! I have avoided all tennis the past two weeks for this very reason, with our WDW trip coming up on Monday.
I would have done the same, but 12 weeks seems an awfully long time away.

I'm bored already, I got told off by Lady K for throwing a ball on my crutches with the boy.

DW managed to find an ADR for Beaches & Cream last night for our August trip
Nice, we always mean to do this and then never want to give up afternoon time.
Sun Jan 13 - California Grill Brunch
That sounds fun.

Hopefully I look better sitting down than Homer.

I think we need a DDC tennis tournament. Courts at Boardwalk and Saratoga Springs. I'll run it and play in it.

On a pride note, by circumstance, my Godson and his sister (cousins) happened to be marching at WDW representing their HS. So, I cheered loudly for them and took pictures.

It's a horribly addictive sport, even more than running. Unfortunately it's one of the most dynamic. I was reading yesterday that when you push off to the net, at my height and weight, you are running 550-600 pounds of pressure through your achilles.

(shuddering)

Do those calculations at my weight. Makes it really scary!!! :scared1:

You can run the tennis tournament, I will run the beer pong tournament. After seeing pics here you can really get hurt big time playing tennis:confused3. the worst that can happen playing beer pong is maybe :scratchinthe check liver light might come on:drinking1:scared1:.

It was Great that you got to cheer on your Godson, it's a Godfathers job to make them blush at a moment like that:worship:, I have 6 Godchildren I've done it many times, the way I look at it is they will not say anything plus they are not coming home with you so it's all good:thumbsup2:rotfl:.

Good morning for the last time at WDW this year (unless I win the lottery). Going to character breakfast at Trattoria and then onto Vero Beach Resort. I'll post a picture from the Green Cabin Room later.

I ran into him some of his friends later. They all, including him, seem to enjoyed the cheering ad apparently no other family members did that for anyone else. I told him I planned this trip just to see him, so he has to take me to WDW when he makes it big. :lmao:

Safe drive mate, enjoy Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.

Right. That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. Last one standing in the Green Cabin room for beers on Norm's magic band gets to take Stacey J home, for the top 10 things to do at Disney. And let me tell ya, I'm pretty sure No.3 and No.7 are still illegal in Alabama.

Have a good weekend chaps.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Once I get through today only 3 more work weeks before I am Disney bound, 4 night DCL with 2 stops at Castaway Cay and then onto DaWorld for 7 nights. Have a great weekend gents.

So we have an organizer, player and a beer pong coordinator so I will be the first spectator and beer drinker.

Very cool that you got to see him and hang for a bit. Nice job on the "Dad Cheering"!

Sorry about the last day but you planned well my 'Ole Padawan by wrapping up with a few days at Vero - looking forward to the Green Cabin Room pic, I love that place.

Now how many Dads here know who Stacey J is? Well played as usual my friend. Hope you are doing o.k. with the injury, maybe you can get spoiled this weekend by the family in terms of bringing you food, drink, etc.

Cheers Mikey, it's a constant dull ache, similar to having family you don't like round your house.

The Lady K has already asked what I'm cooking tomorrow, so looks like that particular gravy train has hit the buffers. It's the Curly haired Ninjas birthday party (her birthday was at the end of May, but all the kids were off) on Sunday. Apart from that, gearing up for the World Cup next week. What you up to mate? Grillin and Chillin?

Good job there mate.

I was just looking to see other options besides getting a studio during DDC. I mean, I'll probably have a car, so I don't necessarily need to be on property to get transportation.

I get discounts on several things through work, so I decided to take a gander.
One of the options that came up was Four Seasons Resort Orlando.
Normal rate: 1136.45, discount 599.38.
I'm thinking if that's for the entire stay, not so bad. If it's per night,

It is per night. Move along, nothing to see here.

So...any good off property places y'all have stayed you'd recommend?
I will not be going back to the resort that shall not be named off property again. (If you're curious, it's in my TR, but as I said, I will not name it again).

Terrence posted this on the FB group:

Thanks for the reminder! I've been meaning to post but I've been too lazy. Here's what it shaping up to look like for the organized events:

Wed Jan 9 - AKL Wine Tour at Jiko 3pm
Thur Jan 10 - EPCOT - Biergarten supper (maybe fireworks show or non-park ticket required event?)
Fri Jan 11 - AK or DHS and Picnic at House
Sat Jan 12 - MK and Edison or Bar Crawl or Fireworks show (boat or party)
Sun Jan 13 - California Grill Brunch

We try to organize it so that the planned group events don't require Park Hoppers, but most of the impromptu stuff that happens does.

I may modify my plans. I was originally going to do the 7th-14th, but then realized that will require more than a week of vacation from work. I think now, I may do the full week and then bow out Saturday around 5pm. I will miss the bar crawl (not of interest to me anyway) or the fireworks show and the brunch, but at least that will give me Wed, Thu, Fri and part of Sat to meet up with folks.

Good day All.

Got to spend the morning with my son in his bio class helping him with this.

It was pretty cool but I did decide not to have the tuna I brought for lunch.

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I bet CJ's daughter could have given you guys some pointers.

I'm sure she could have helped him find all the parts.

I think she would have gone all Pirate on your @$$ for cutting up one of her beloved sharks...

i think the part of this thread I like most is that I can skip to the last page, read it, and get a decent grasp of the goings on.
though, admittedly, i do miss reading the forum nightly, like i used to.
instead, i hit fb and stop. That's my bad, really.

I'm still looking forward to being on property at the same time as you all over Marathon weekend, but it's unlikely that i'll be at any of the meet ups or even the BBQ.
Plans are fluid at the moment, and that is an understatement.

I have added another child to my household. That could be news since my last post. I miss sleep.
