DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Nothing much going on around here. The kid is in finals week and I get to go to the dentist tomorrow. I don't know which one is more painful.

Dan needs to make the call for ending but may I suggest the AbracadBar at Boardwalk.

Went there for a quick peak. There was a guy walking around but it didn't seem like much was going on. But like I said, it was short drive by.

DD only has one more week of school and Nursing program ceremonies and graduation next weekend. DS is on his way home for the summer today - surely with a vehicle full of dirty clothes.

Congrats to her. Exciting time for all of you. One good thing with DD having to fly home was she could only bring one suitcase of dirty clothes. Didn't matter anyway because if she depended on me to do it, she would be flying back with a suitcase full of dirty clothes.

It looks like this will be my last time leaving home to go overseas. I've been offered and accepted a position with my company based in my hometown. It will be quite a change for me after 20 years of banging around oil rigs and flying overseas for work. It means a pretty significant pay cut, but I felt it was time to make a change for the sake of my family. I think we're all tired of me being away from home so much. Money doesn't buy happiness, as they say. However it does buy trips to see Mickey, so I will have to see how things go before I can take the whole family back to WDW.

Congrats. It had to be tough on you and the family. Sure it will work out well.

Request to join

Welcome.

Morning boys from a very hungover London. Had 50 over for my Mum's 70th.

Congrats to your Mum. I am sure the hangover was a small price to pay for the good time you had. That is if you can remember it.

Yep! Actually one of the good things about this place is you are responsible to get the booze bought and brought in which is way less expensive and you can keep it simple than if the event place did it. Since we all like to see everyone's ADRs here's the wedding booze list for about 115 folks:
Chardonnay...

Nice bar set up there. Feel free to pass around any leftovers.

I look at this and see a drainage project.

Funny. Once an Engineer, always an Engineer.

Happy Tuesday. Oil change this morning in one vehicle and need to get the other in as well. HS tennis this afternoon and weather is perfect right now - low 70s and no wind.

Good luck to her on the match tonight.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Not to beat the wedding and graduation stuff to death, but that is pretty much our universe for the next month which ain't all bad. Many of the costs I have been saving away for are due this week - final payment to event facility, photographer and caterer :scared1:. So of course. several other WTH expenses hit, DD car battery needed to be replaced and DW car needed a new main sensor board that handle the automatic rear hatch - sure I don't have any other expenses right now. To bring a bit of Disney into the picture, DD is decorating her grad cap and gonna use Walt's quote "All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them" and the kids finalized the music to walk into the wedding ceremony. Moms and bridesmaids will walk in to Beauty & the Beast theme and I'll walk DD in to Can you Feel the Love Tonight from Lion King, and then the bride and groom are gonna walk out to Hunk of Burning Love from Lilo & Stitch (SIL favorite) to get the fun started :rotfl:

Afternoon guys. Just checking in after a long absence. As posted in another thread, I had to take a hiatus after the last trip. In addition to the usual post-trip blues, I was spending WAY too much time on this forum before the last trip and decided it was time for a break. Getting a little too obsessive is one of my character flaws, but don't tell my wife I admitted to that.
Drop me a line! Maybe we can get together
Nice of ya's to stop in and here from you - trust all is well other than Disney obsession - oxymoron if ever there was one
Happy Monday. Worked a full day yesterday and put in some more hours today, but should be clear now to Thursday. Tennis with youngest tonight to get her ready for HS match tomorrow. Scheduled an oil change for in the morning. Just more mundane stuff - 2.5 months to Poly
What are your exact dates down at DaWorld there and Dan when are you there?

The kid is in finals week and I get to go to the dentist tomorrow. I don't know which one is more painful.
Dentist...
They inflict pain.
She should be ready for exams by now anyway.

That's quite the set list there.

And may those bills not be too painful.

I heard club numbers were going to b e taken away if we did not post here . So here I am my number should be good for a little longer now

:rotfl:
Went home to visit my Dad today and this was what I faced for the first part of the drive
Well that looks distinctly soggy. Hope your Dad is OK.
Kirk. I had a quick look at your TR.
Kirk - I trust Jeff and Darcy implicitly, so I won't bother reading your TR.
We opened up into the Garden. We had to shut the doors at about 3 so I didn't tick off the neighbours too much. They are all lovely, but some of them get a bit grumpy if it gets past 2AM.
Just checking in after a long absence.
And you are very welcome back sir.
Our Rep took a post in the current administration (so he's now shaming humanity on a national level).
Fight the good fight mate
Yeah, I remember when I used to want an exciting life. Now, I'm just happy when Friday gets here and I can enjoy a beer and watch some TV. I did bring this extra work upon myself, though.
How did the meeting go with the Pastor Norm?
I've always kept my planner in a spreadsheet, but the board idea is cool.
Yeah, I start off with a spreadsheet then the frustrated artist gets the better of me.....
I do post in the FB group sometimes, but this feels more like home.
Seconded.

Evening chaps, a, little bit chilly over here. Hope all is well on the Western side of the Atlantic. Cheers for Ma's birthday wishes, I passed them on.

Well, you're not taking the exam, so...

My wife and I entered our reception hall to the Olympic Fanfare. I do not regret this choice.

I heard club numbers were going to b e taken away if we did not post here .

:confused3

you did, but it's likely to be good for you in the long run.
I seriously need to find a way to get out among more and divers folk myself.
Just haven't found the right direction yet.

If you want to find some divers, go to an ocean or swimming pool or certification program. Diverse folk may be more difficult to find, or at least, spell. :lmao:

Dentist. They're her finals, not yours. You get the dentist, and they're your teeth.

Will do on the tennis match.

What are your exact dates down at DaWorld there and Dan when are you there?

Cool song choices. DW and I walked to "I don't want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith. That was before the honeymoon at WDW. My exact July Poly dates are the 19th thru 22nd.

I heard club numbers were going to b e taken away if we did not post here . So here I am my number should be good for a little longer now

 Carl. Thanks for stopping.

:rotfl:

.

2 AM in the garden? Yeah, some party.

The meeting went well. He asked me to give it a year, and I agreed. I explained there were certain things I couldn't do, and if he was willing to let those go undone. He said he was. That one remains to be seen.

So here goes. Disney in July Do you go over the 4th???
Its my first July trip Carl, and the kids aren't off until around the third week in July, so I won't get to go over 4th July for a while. The crowds look ridiculous.

Who says Friday's with a beer and TV isn't exciting? I hear ya. There are just some weeks that getting to the couch on Friday night with an adult beverage. Hope the work situation levels out for ya.

Dentist - you don't have to take the final
That's quite the set list there.

Thanks, and now we have a 6 month old refrigerator down - Freon leak / major repair. At least it's under warranty and they are sending us a $125 check for the hassle of having to wait for the repairs. Don't buy a GE gents this is second crash of this monster in 6 months.

19th July until August 4 mate. We'll save a bar stool for you, just in case you change your mind.
I was looking to see if you guys were there July 8 as we have some time to kill between the ship return and our flight home on that day. Oh well, next time gents.

‘Morning all…
Beautiful day predicted down here.
Of course, I’ll be inside working the whole time. :sad1:

May y’all be fairing much better.

How many years were you an English Teacher before your current vocation?

Don’t know…
My overlords won’t allow me to take vacation time for Independence Day.
I was unaware that they had a different fireworks show then.
(so now I’m even more ticked at the bosses.)

I do get to go down in a couple weeks though so that’s going to make things a good bit more tolerable.

Getting nickel and dimed near to death here, aren’t ya’.
A fridge should be just about bullet proof, mechanical speaking.
Shines a rather poor light on their Q/C initiatives.

At our wedding, my wife and I chose Gabriel's Oboe from the movie "The Mission", because nothing says love like the story of a South American native tribe and their European aggressors.

If you want to find some divers, go to an ocean or swimming pool or certification program. Diverse folk may be more difficult to find, or at least, spell. :lmao:
I noticed that, but didn't bring it up after the "hitting it anally" debacle. :rotfl2:

Who says Friday's with a beer and TV isn't exciting?
Sounds perfectly fine to me.

Wow. At least you were able to get under warranty. I don't think I've ever had a GE appliance (not a major one). I would have assumed it was a reliable brand.

Happy Wednesday. Youngest dd lost her tennis match in a third set tiebreaker 11-9 last night. She had won her doubles earlier, and just ran out of gas. So, her reward today is getting braces on her teeth. Ok, so maybe not a reward, but just how that schedule works.

We've been here an hour this far. I took the day off because I have lots of sick days. I'm thinking about going to the gym, but since I play tennis tonight, it might be the excuse I need to continue not going. :lmao:

We will meet up sometime at WDW. Sorry to hear about the fridge, but it will soon be done. I think we mostly have GE products in our house, and they work fine. I'm not really sure since DW bought them. We have used a local store as opposed to the big box stores, and they have responded well to maintenance calls when needed.

How many years were you an English Teacher before your current vocation?

.

It's the zerfonics. You're welcome.

I noticed that, but didn't bring it up after the "hitting it anally" debacle. :rotfl2:

.

Yes, I thought about that as well. :lmao:

And yet...
It got brought up anyway.

More proof that dyslexia and auto-correct make for a poor combination.

Again, just blame the zerfonics.

Yy mooth herts. Boo hoors in da Lentist bear. Rungy bot yy mooth herts. Rad it wasnt woot cannel rho.
"My mouth hurts. Two hours in the dentist chair. Dang but my mouth husrts. GLad it wasn't root canal though" ???

Good news it wasnt a root canal.
I ate nothing but cold poached eggs in chicken broth for 4 days when I had mine. But hey at least its something you can eat that doesn't hurt you mouth. And you don't really have to chew it so you can eat before the drugs fully wear off and not have to worry about biting your tongue in half.
