DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
I do get to go down in a couple weeks though so that’s going to make things a good bit more tolerable.
Good deal almost forgot you were goin. Where ya staying any good ADR's or plans?
Happy Wednesday. Youngest dd lost her tennis match in a third set tiebreaker 11-9 last night. She had won her doubles earlier, and just ran out of gas. So, her reward today is getting braces on her teeth. Ok, so maybe not a reward, but just how that schedule works.

We've been here an hour this far. I took the day off because I have lots of sick days. I'm thinking about going to the gym, but since I play tennis tonight, it might be the excuse I need to continue not going. :lmao:
So DD kills herself playing tennis, wins here doubles and her reward is day with Dad and getting braces put on? Sounds like she needs a bit of pixie dust there............
Bot DANG rummy! RUNGRY, I'M RUNGRY!
OK, so eat somethin?
Nope... sorry... back to the end of the line with ya! :lmao:
Nice to hear from you, dont be such a stranger around here.

Morning dads.
Thursday begins or as I have begun calling it day 4 of the hostage situation.
Taking a 3 day weekend starting tomorrow, my cousin is getting married so I am off to a wedding.

‘Morning all…
And Happy Bird Day!

Yeah, I’m kidding.
Light Saber practice starts out in the courtyard at 10:30 (just don’t kill any birds with them today).

Yy mooth herts. Boo hoors in da Lentist bear. Rungy bot yy mooth herts. Rad it wasnt woot cannel rho.
Well, did you ever find something to eat?
May the swelling be gone by now and the aches subside quickly.

I ate nothing but cold poached eggs in chicken broth for 4 days
That sounds…

Horrific!
<<shudder>>

Good deal almost forgot you were goin. Where ya staying any good ADR's or plans?
Trying to do this one somewhat “economically” (well, by Disney standards anyway) so it’s going to be a split stay on World for a few days and off World on the weekends. Only one TS ADR planned and nearly everything else will be QS. We’ll start driving on a Friday afternoon; then…

Saturday
- the plan is for a leisurely drive along A1A from Fort Clinch down to around Flagler Beach with a couple of stops along the way. After dinner we’ll probably hit the interstates and head directly to Orlando (staying off site near Disney Springs).

Sunday
- Early morning is up for grabs but at some point we’ll end up at Disney Springs. Some unnecessary sweets will probably get devoured, time will likely be spent at Jock Lindsey's, and dinner will be our only “planned” TS ADR of the trip at The Boat House.

Monday
- Likely starts off at Epcot. Officially move On World by checking into Pop Century that afternoon (again, trying to save a couple of bucks). Evening plans… possibly toward DHS via the Boardwalk. Also possible: heading over to AK (may want to see their light show at least once).

Tuesday
- It’s all about the MK including our only other ADR: lunch at BOG.
(We’d have started off here, as one should, but couldn’t get the ADR on that Monday)

Wednesday
- AK in the morning and probably back to MK in the evening. Chances are rather good we’ll be hitting the Loop Resorts that afternoon with a fair amount of the time spent at Trader Sams.

Thursday
- Probably back to Epcot (we’ve a couple of FPs in the early afternoon there). We could stay there the whole day with many libation stops in the WS. Or… we might head back to AK with a stop at Nomads if we do and, who knows, maybe there will be a soft opening into the new “land”. The attractions probably won’t be open but they might at least start letting folks look around a bit toward the end of the week (hay, it could happen).

Friday
- We’re banished from Da’ World when we check out of Pop and head offsite. But we still have park time so it’s probably DHS in the morning and then most likely our last park appearance will be back at MK in the evening (because, that’s what you do).

Saturday
- A trek down to “Wild Florida”. The evening is still open here but may well end up once more at Dis-Springs.

Sunday/Monday
- Truck it back toward home with time built in for depression and general recovery.

We’ve been down there enough that there’s no need to bust ourselves to try and hit every single thing, so now-a-days we only make a loose itinerary with lots of room for improvising. We may not follow any of this plan to the letter and If we miss something – no big deal - we’ll be back.

“Hostage Situation“…
I like that comparison.

Enjoy the time off and all the festivities, but remember - when you feel the urge at the reception to tell someone to “Hold my beer, watch this” - you may need to rethink what you’re about to do next.
(unless of course it’s so epic that it wins you 100K from AFV)

BEACHFRONT AVENUE!
Ice, Ice baby.....Dum dum dum da da dum dum.
Sorry. Couldn't resist.
Nice trip plan. I cancelled my BOG dinner ADR this week, now I'm kinda regretting it.

Just my take on the aforementioned scenario, Cliff...

Hey, it's almost Friday here! May your day be a Beverly free, Dole Whip filled cornucopia of delight.

Happy Thursday. I made it to the gym this morning and scheduled an oil change for the other vehicle tomorrow. HS regionals draws are out, and youngest has a #2 matchup against someone I didn't get to watch play. I won't be able to do much advanced scouting for next week.

I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon off yesterday, watching the Outlaw Josey Wales on VHS. I'm thinking of calling it early and get in a few hours before heading to church tonight.

So DD kills herself playing tennis, wins here doubles and her reward is day with Dad and getting braces put on? Sounds like she needs a bit of pixie dust there............
.

I fed her pizza after the match. She did ice cream at home last night after the braces were put on. That's good enough?

I remember that line from Al Bundy - The movie Four Weddings and a Funeral? - That's kinda like 5 of the same thing. :lmao:

Vanilla Ice? Lucky you're a Brit. You might lose your membership card for that type of post over here. :lmao:

We were underwhelmed by BoG ADR. I might try the QS there one year, but probably not.

Does it get mentioned in that "tune"?
I'd no idea. That's one I've gone out of my way to not hear in its entirety.

We've never been, so it seemed like a good idea to grab some lunch there at least once.

Not sure how economical that is, but it does sound fun. Have a great trip.
You missed the quotes, so yeah - It's kind'a relative (at best).
Compared to say: getting the TS dinning plan, staying at a Moderate or better, staying across weekends and being onsite during or beyond the Memorial Day price jump...
well then it's "economical".

Considerably less then I've spent on several previous trips down that way.

Sounds like fun. Please take me with you....I have bacon...
Bacon is good, but I'm pretty sure Texas is just the littlest bit out of the way of my planned route and fuel reserves.

Afternoon all, fully recovered from the dentist. The kid had a good day yesterday. Two of the classes she is taking this semester are Research Diving and some boating course. Finished up yesterday and she is now a certified research diver and is allowed to drive government owned boats. Weird thing about the boating class is she can jump on any NOAA boat and take the keys but could be fined for taking out the neighbor's boat. Florida is a strange place. She liked the course and may go for her Captain's licencse over the summer. That would include commercial vessels like dive boats.

I'm not waiting for Dan to call it tomorrow, I'm checking out. She is heading out tomorrow for a weekend research trip on Broad Key and I am going to head to Key Largo for Cinco de Mayo. Lunch at a place called Señor Frogs, a great Mexican restaurant. Table made guacamole baby.

My wife and I entered our reception hall to the Olympic Fanfare. I do not regret this choice.

Guess she knew what she was getting into from day one. You could have picked Chariots of Fire and entered in slow motion.

ok cant stop in a Disney site without talking some Disney. So here goes. Disney in July Do you go over the 4th??? are the fireworks worth the crowd??

A few times. One hint is they showed the 4th fireworks the day before.

Thanks, and now we have a 6 month old refrigerator down

That sucks. Sorry about that.

May the swelling be gone by now and the aches subside quickly.

After about and hour and a half, started eating like a pig. I'm pretty pain tolerant so it was actually bearable. The thing that affects me the most is the pain killers they administer. Gets me a little shaky and I hate that numbness feel. The office texted me afterward and asked if I wanted to go in today to get a needed cleaning. Nope, had enough.

That is a good looking plan. Sure you are going to have a blast.

Does it get mentioned in that "tune"?
I'd no idea. That's one I've gone out of my way to not hear in its entirety
Oh yeah. According to the legend that is Vanilla Ice, when you are driving down the A1A, you should expect to see:

a: Girls who were hot wearing less than bikinis and
b: Rockman lovers driving Lambourghinis.
So that'll be nice.
I'm pushing my luck a little bit here, and seeing as Norm already has me on a yellow card, I'll leave it there.

Bacon is good, but I'm pretty sure Texas is just the littlest bit out of the way of my planned route and fuel reserves.
Well if you going out of your way anyway Rob......:wave2:I'm pretty sure I can bring the pretzels. Road trip.

Key Largo for Cinco de Mayo. Lunch at a place called Señor Frogs, a great Mexican restaurant. Table made guacamole baby.
LOVE me some table made. Enjoy that mate.

I'm pushing my luck a little bit here,
Well, you certainly demonstrated that he's not only a plagiarist of a composer, but a wretched lyricist as well.
Do believe I'll continue not listening to that one.

Well if you going out of your way anyway Rob......:wave2:I'm pretty sure I can bring the pretzels. Road trip.
Don't forget to bring some good brews to go with the pretzels.
If you start swimming now, you may make the Georgia coast about the time I'm driving through there.

Hey gents. Heading out tomorrow for DD graduation festivities starting with her nursin pin ceremony tomorrow night. I am with CJ as calling it but since I won't be able to join you guys I would like to suggest you hit La Cava del Tequila in Mexico at EPCOT to celebrate Cinco de Maya. Have a great weekend with families.

Great plan you got there and we are at that take it easy pace nowadays as well. If you ain't done Boathouse you will love it - the filet is great.
I fed her pizza after the match. She did ice cream at home last night after the braces were put on. That's good enough?
OK - that sounds better and best of luck to DD with her HS Tennis draw.

Cool things for DD, sounds like she is doing great. Enjoy your time in Key Largo. We have been to Senor Frogs in the Bahamas and have had table side guac, great stuff.

Thanks. She is doing well but grades haven't come in yet.

Out of habit I typed in Señor Frogs, my bad. Eaten at a few of them over the years and it is good stuff. This place is actually Señor Frijoles. Locally owned, very authentic, high quality ingredients and reasonably priced. Open since the late 70's early 80's which is rare for a Keys restaurant. I think I will be dreaming of guac tonight when I sleep.

Morning Guys.

Haven't been around much this week, just time for a quick read through. Doesn't appear much has changed.

Took the day off today and we are off to JV Volleyball Provincials as DS and his buddies go in search of the school's third straight banner. Two games later today and one tomorrow morning before they get into the playoff round. Were supposed to have some torrential rain here for the next couple of days as well; glad we don't live near the river.

Have a good one all.

Sounds like a fun trip. It's hard to do anything at Disney economically, but you're doing it about the best way possible.

DW and DD are going on a dance school trip in July and they were thinking of just doing all QS. But they are staying at Caribbean Beach (chosen by the entire dance group) and it was booked back in October before the construction was announced. The plus is that they are supposed to get a $75 gift card each day, which will cover a TS meal for the two of them, so kind of like free dining. I've been looking at ADRs for them.

We've never been, so it seemed like a good idea to grab some lunch there at least once.
I've never bee to BoG either. I've read many mixed reviews, but I am of the same mind, I would like to try it at least once, for the theming of the place if nothing else.

Finished up yesterday and she is now a certified research diver and is allowed to drive government owned boats. Weird thing about the boating class is she can jump on any NOAA boat and take the keys but could be fined for taking out the neighbor's boat. Florida is a strange place. Sounds very cool. Congrats to her. Funny rules on the boats. So, if you or she owned a boat, could she drive it, or would that be another kind of license all together?

Were supposed to have some torrential rain here for the next couple of days as well; glad we don't live near the river.
Lucky you are on dry land. Hopefully no flooding near the river, but it's the time of year for it.

Morning all…
Welcome to the Revenge of the Fifth.
At least it’s Friday.

Yes.. Florida can be a strange place, but then again so is my home state, so I’ll not be tossing stones.

Concrats again to the young’en. She definitely needs to get her Captain's license. So many great possibilities open up with one of those (the least of which being a retirement plan for driving boats at Disney somewhere on down the line).

I will bring German Beer to go with the pretzels and throw in a bottle of Titos, you know to cover your gas expenses.
Tell you what…
You meet Dan on the GA coast when he comes ashore that Friday night and I’ll pick y’all up on the way down.

Should be a great time. Always good to see your kids doing well and moving on.

I can’t make it to La Cava tonight but I’ll bust open a few brews in honor of those who do.

Out of habit I typed in Señor Frogs, my bad.
I was a mite curious about that one.

This place is actually Señor Frijoles. Locally owned, very authentic, high quality ingredients and reasonably priced. Open since the late 70's early 80's which is rare for a Keys restaurant.
Now that sounds better.
Much more what I’d anticipate from the Life of CJ.
Have an extra drink for me.

Doesn't appear much has changed.
You were expecting that it would?

Took the day off today and we are off to JV Volleyball Provincials as DS and his buddies go in search of the school's third straight banner.
May their skills serve them well.
With those intact, there’s no need for good luck.

Sounds like a fun trip. It's hard to do anything at Disney economically, but you're doing it about the best way possible.
Mighty hard indeed…

I could have skipped the Hopper options, the one TS and consigned us to eating only dry cereal and PB&J in the parking lots to save a bit more, but it’s not like I’m trying to pay for a family of six or some other such craziness.

They should have a blast. $75 will be helpful but even that can disappear quickly at a Disney TS.
Good thing they’ve got an experienced planner looking into the ARDs for them.

.

Happy Friday. I'm getting the tumbler serviced for an oil & air filter change. Hoping to get another 5 years out of it - so both children can drive it. I'm hoping to get our of here and get to work until 1:00 PM and then call it. You all have a great weekend.

You missed the quotes, so yeah - It's kind'a relative (at best).
Compared to say: getting the TS dinning plan, staying at a Moderate or better, staying across weekends and being onsite during or beyond the Memorial Day price jump...

I saw those. Comparatively economical is a Disney term.

Yes, she looks happy on FB and is proud to show them off at school. Have a good day of life of CJ enjoying all the festivities. Good luck to Andrianna on her boating license.

Oh yeah. According to the legend that is Vanilla Ice, when you are driving down the A1A, you should expect to see:

I do like the thought of girls wearing less than bikinis. You won't be issued a 2nd yellow.

Don't forget to bring some good brews to go with the pretzels.
If you start swimming now, you may make the Georgia coast about the time I'm driving through there.

How is he supposed to swim and keep the pretzels dry?

Congrats again to your dd. I might be more excited about Regionals than she is. It's harder to watch than play.
