@Blizzyblizz, I don't mean to pry, but how do you have over 4000 points? I thought DVC was limited to a hard cap of 4000 total per person.

My working theory is that you got these before they made that rule. Since with that many points, you're basically the Grandfather of DVC at this point, they decided to name the exemption process after you. Now any time a new rule is made that doesn't apply to older members, they call it being "grandfathered in." Fun fact: they were going to go with being "blizzyblizzed in," but that sounded like a lot more alcohol is involved than Magic Kingdom allowed at the time. It caught on, and now people sometimes even use that phrase outside of the Disney bubble.

Unfortunately the truth is less interesting - I believe what @PolyRob said is correct, the limit is 4,000 for any one resort and 8,000 total. I've never had anyone from Disney or a reseller mention the limit to me. When I was up at 5,800 points though, I did have Disney refuse to sell me more direct points. I think they believed that I was using them for commercial purposes. I wasn't - it was all personal use. But I was renting out some of our points purely to swap for my family to go on other Disney vacations, and I guess they didn't like that at the scale I was at.

And thank you, I'll gladly claim the title Grandfather of DVC

It was back office folks I spoke with. We had a few exchanges / conversations. And that's about all I'll say on that. =)

I'm guessing it wouldn't be an issue for me to buy now that I've scaled things back somewhat.
