DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Not a bad idea…
Beats what’s on the viewers in my office (which is nothing)

Also illustrates that if someone from the US truly wants to “see” the Olympics…
They need to find a way to watch the feed from some other nation’s broadcasts.
Best as I can tell form our coverage, you’d be forgiven for believing that there are only about two and half different sporting events that ever take place during the whole of the gathering.

Sounds typical of NBC's coverage; that and the fact that according to them the only country involved is the USA.

Top O the Mornin Dads! If you don't notice, got us a new countdown ticker for March - that will give us 3 Disney trips over 9 months (Dec WDW, Mar WDW, June DCL). Disney is getting on my planning nerves as Park hours for March ain't close to being posted (December isn't final yet either) which makes ADR planning a bit of a challenge. So I have DS checking his access to travel agent info for park hours. If I have not mentioned it, DS works part time for a local Disney Travel Agent from the neighborhood.

Sinking in a bit that I'm gonna miss the young man as we just discussed that we needed to get together tonight and plan out ADRs as this is likely the last time we have face to face before having ADR window open which is Sept 12 - ugh

Happy Olympic Day 7. Right now I have some golf and rowing showing in my office, feel free to stop by.

Overcast day here with level 1 and 2 heat alerts, just had a thunderstorm/tornado warning for just north of us. Should be an interesting day.
Stay safe with all the Mother Nature is throwing you.
‘Morning all…
Our young’en is settled in back on campus now. He sent me the details for the extra travel/participation fees and other expenses that come out of pocket on top of the tuition…

There’s another grand instantly evaporated from the savings accounts…

<<sigh>>

Frighteningly quick…
Sets one to thinking about the limits on our own time as well.
The Mrs. and I need to find something else to occupy some of our time outside the house.
(being as we no longer need to spend it running the boy’s life anymore)
I hear you on the bank account drainage these days. Even with the money saved / put away it's still hurts to see it disappear like that. Let me know what you and the better half come up with in terms of occupying time as we are now in the same boat. Gonna take some give and take as DW is not into football, hockey nor Star Wars and I ain't into the Bachelor, Lifetime Channel nor her complaining about what this one said and what that one did

"Off topic" for here, but have you seen Main Street Electrical Parade comes to a close October 9 as it is moving to Disneyland. Rumor is that the Paint the Night Parade introduced as part of DL 60th celebration will be heading to WDW to replace MSE. As with all of the other changes occurring, gonna miss MSE, as we do Spectromagic and others, but hoping that the new things are even better.

There are other countries represented down there too! :faint:

Truth is...
the insipid coverage, with all its overproduced, overedited focus on adding unnecessary "drama"and hyping all things nationalistic has pretty much ensured that I ain't watching much if any of the games at all. Headlines and radio coverage is plenty for me.

Sounds like the way the Tele gets used in our house. She's often at one end of the house watching the same stuff you listed and I'm at the other (with the set turned off most of the time).

I need to find us a club of some sort to get into.

May need to take that in one last time then.
I'll add it into our September plan somewhere.
(Just hope we actually get to go at that time)

Morning all. Here at Disney having fun. Crowds seem low, and getting onto rides fairly easy. Weather hasn't been that bad. Now if I can just get my wife and kids out of bed before noon.....
We're usually pretty good about getting to the parks on the early side, but for our November trip I've already told my wife we will be doing a morning EMH. She's onboard... for now.

It's almost evening over here. Quitting time, everyone.

1 more work day and then hopping the pond to Orlando....

Drink a pint for me then. I just had lunch, still sitting at my desk doing very mind numbing laptop work.

Hey Darcy, Hows things?

Things are going well. Summer is warm, finally got some golf in and some vacation coming up shortly. How about you?

What he said, except my work involves watching swimming and golf.

Have a cold one for me and safe travels. Make sure to check in while you are over here.
I've had better Summers. Lots of family medical stuff going on and its starting to wear me down.
Sorry to hear, hoping things turn positive for you and yours.

Will do mate. It's going to be weird not leading the time zone on most of the disdads. Its normally my train to work read, catching up on the overnight traffic.
