DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Mickey head mini apple pies.
Pre-made pie dough, canned apple pie filling.... and extremely appreciated (and not bad, too!)
(Ignore the burned ears. It's her first time at baking.)
What a fantastic idea! The burnt ears can be forgiven for her first time baking. I love the creativity. I may need to "borrow" this idea.

Hello DisDads any room for another Dad :)
They haven't kicked me out yet, so I'm sure there's room for another! Where are you from?

It's that day again.....That's right it's Wednesday.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Summer hoops began last night with both kids winning their first game. It's so much more relaxing in the stands than on the sidelines. Both played well for a first game.

Hope everyone has a great mid week.

Happy Tuesday. No major changes here - still sick, still playing tennis, and dds still doing their activities. It has been a lazy summer. Tournament is this weekend for me and I'm hoping to be close to well enough to play decent. Timing sucks on whatever this is.
There's that classic disdad effort. :lmao:

Good hitting at the softball field. Hope the error rate lowers along with the injury.

Hope you get better quickly. Good luck in the tournament! We're all counting on you.

Unfortunately the older I get the longer it takes to heal. Quad feels much better today after a day of ice and stretching. Arm still a little sore.

Hello DisDads any room for another Dad :)

Welcome to the group.

Howdy folks.
Well, eldest DD surprised me yesterday.
Since I wasn't home Father's Day evening, she made me these Monday night.

:thumbsup2 The ears are supposed to be black. They look great.

Top O the Mornin Dads! DS college orientation went well, he had to adjust course plan but nothing major so all good. Back from that and hop on a plane in a few hours to the west coast for business rest of the week, ugh. Have a good one gents.
Hope All You Guys had a Great Fathers Day. Heading back to WDW 7/12-7/19 haven't been there since Easter and a ton of New things to do plus a few challenges since then. This time at any given day we can be touring with My family of 3 to a extended family of 18 depending on the day. All together it is 4 families, I will be arriving with a family that has never been to WDW before, my wife and son will already be there when I arrive and the question was actually asked by the family if I knew my way around the airport and resort to get them there LOL you can imagine the response the got.
If any Dads are going to be at WDW 7/12 - 7/19 drop a Pm I'd love to meet up with you.
Enjoy your trip and good luck with that group of 18.
Morning Guys!

Beautiful day here for the Summer Solstice.

Played soccer last night, lost 2-1 but had a good run. I also scored my first goal, drilled one in the top corner trying to clear a corner kick; good times!
OOOOOOOWWWWWWWNNNNN GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL - soryy
Finally making it back to the World and back to the Boards after an extended absence. We are on our way to Long Boat Key for a beach vacation and decided to stop by the park so we can get our first in-person taste of the expanded Fantasyland. Rather than have a long day in the park and then try to drive someplace, we are having a one-night stay at French Quarter. We will be at MK on 6/30, spend some time at the resort on the morning of 7/1 and then wend our merry and Disney rejuvenated way home.
Welcome back and enjoy the trip

Congrats to the kids and to you on getting to be a parent and watch and relax. I remember changing from coaching to just parent and it was nice to be able to just enjoy and focus on my own kids.

:thumbsup2 The ears are supposed to be black. They look great.

 So I should tell her she screwed up on the non-burned ones?

And... it's Wednesday? I have no idea what the heck day it is anymore......... shift work... gotta love it.

Something came trough S. Florida yesterday although not sure what it was. Monsoon rain, wind and lightning. Of course I was trying to drive though it at the time. Almost 4 inches of rain and some flooding.

Righteous!

Dude!

Happy Tuesday. No major changes here - still sick, still playing tennis, and dds still doing their activities. It has been a lazy summer.

Sorry about the illness. Doesn't sound like a lazy summer with all the tennis tournaments and running around for your girls.

Hello DisDads any room for another Dad :)

Welcome, pull up a chair.

Howdy folks.
Well, eldest DD surprised me yesterday.
Since I wasn't home Father's Day evening, she made me these Monday night.

That is awesome! For some reason, I want Mickey head apple pies.

Yup, it was even the winning goal. Like I said, good times.

I thought I read it that way. Did the same thing when I was playing intramural soccer in college. After the game I had to go back to the house to hear about it.

Summer hoops began last night with both kids winning their first game. It's so much more relaxing in the stands than on the sidelines. Both played well for a first game.

Good for them. Stands are a better place than on the sidelines.

Top O the Mornin Dads! DS college orientation went well, he had to adjust course plan but nothing major so all good. Back from that and hop on a plane in a few hours to the west coast for business rest of the week, ugh. Have a good one gents.

Glad orientation went well. Safe travels.

Happy Wednesday. Week ends for me tomorrow as I leave in PM for Lexington. Three days of tournament play, if we win. This is team tennis though, which means everyone has to win to get to finals, or at least majority. I'm not so sure that will happen as I worry about quite a few of them. We shall see.

Yup, it was even the winning goal. Like I said, good times.

When you said "cleared a corner kick" into the goal, I originally thought that maybe you were on a Futsal field.

They haven't kicked me out yet, so I'm sure there's room for another! Where are you from?

Well, now that you mention it ...... :lmao:

Hey guys, it's Wednesday.

200.gif

When I first saw that picture, my mind sure went racing. And, it wasn't to the NASCAR track.

Hope you get better quickly. Good luck in the tournament! We're all counting on you.

Unfortunately the older I get the longer it takes to heal. Quad feels much better today after a day of ice and stretching. Arm still a little sore.

Glad to hear the kids did well. I hope you aren't counting on too much from me. I'll pack food, water, clothes - the normal for a tennis tournament tonight - to be ready to leave tomorrow after work. I'll also have to pack up the ice pack bags, meds, braces, tape, etc. to keep me walking. I tried playing two matches in one day last week and it didn't go well. But, they were singles matches and I'm playing doubles in the tournament. Let's hope it goes better this time.

Congrats to the kids and to you on getting to be a parent and watch and relax. I remember changing from coaching to just parent and it was nice to be able to just enjoy and focus on my own kids.

Glad DS made it through registration. Sitting in stands relaxing works well until the new coach screws it up and you think about what you would have done.

And... it's Wednesday? I have no idea what the heck day it is anymore......... shift work... gotta love it.

So sad for you, and can only relate in my way. Never did shift work, but did have two jobs in college, one at UPS which ran a 10:00 PM to 3:00 AM shift. I can't tell you how many times I woke up at 6 or 7 and couldn't figure out if it was morning or evening.

Sorry about the illness. Doesn't sound like a lazy summer with all the tennis tournaments and running around for your girls.

I was hoping not to play in this tournament, but my doubles partner from last year wanted to, so I agreed. We won our local city doubles division tournament last year (old fart division) but it will be a greater test at the state level. We'll play in the local one again at the end of August, if I'm still alive.

We also had a monsoon of rain go through here around 4:00 PM. And, like you, I was driving home in it - on the parkway - at 80 MPH. Had to slow down as I couldn't see with my wipers on the highest setting.

No regulation pitch. Corner came in hard and low, keeper didn't call me off the ball so I decided I should clear it before the guy next to me got a foot on it. Ball bounced and was redirected off my shin.

Good luck at the tournament.

Thanks and hope the weather did not cause any damage for you.

Good luck with your tournament and hope whatever crud you have is all cleared up in time.

Watched the "Chew" on Tivo and they announced the cast will be again at Food and Wine. No dates yet. They also brought on a chef to cook shrimp and grits and said he is opening "Homecoming" at Disney Springs. Don't know if it is out there already but I haven't heard. Says it is going to be southern style cooking like the recipe he made and all time favorites like fried chicken. Sounds interesting.

You scored from clearing a corner? Were you playing the seven dwarves? On their pitch?

Nope, I was about 2 meters off the goal line just inside the front post. Took a hop on my and deflected in off my shin.

I remember when I stopped coaching DS and started to watch him play basketball from the stands. It's great to be just a dad and be able to give more of your focus to him, though it was a different learning experience to figure out how to talk with him after a game. For us, I learned that I needed to make some type of positive comment about the performance for the drive home, then after both had decompressed we were able to talk more about the good and the bad.

DD played her second year of JV basketball this year, I had to remove myself and sit away from the other parents. Not because I was being rude, but because they were so clueless and rude. I still get a kick out of them screaming for our girls to run a pick and roll....while we were defending an out of bounds play.

I really need to get active in some sort of sport for myself now. Too much time on benches and in bleachers and driving to kids events have left me way too soft in the middle.

Best thing you can say on the drive home is "I loved watching you play."
