DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Morning Guys,

Double duty for me this weekend. Representing work at something called the East Coast Games and cheering for DS and his team in the basketball component of the games. Should be fun.

Good Friday Morning!

Another sunny day in the northeast.

Holy crap! Any idea on the cause?

They are still trying to figure it out. The latest is that they are thinking it was a gas explosion, even though the gas was not being used at the time. The reasoning is that gas could have built up in the lines and something triggered the pressure build up. There is a gas specialist coming out next week to confirm.

Well, you can't get a degree in common sense, so nothing helpful can be taught anymore. :lmao:

Sounds like a decent solution, however, just to give you another thought, FIL's girlfriend lived on a street of homes and county forced them to tie into sewer as opposed to septic. And, it required the homeowner to pay for it, or the county would place a lien on the house for future sale. Yeah government.

She had nothing but problems and continues to get the runaround from people. The sewer gas has backed up into her home, and it doesn't smell very good.

That Stinks! (pun intended)

No possibility of having to connect to sewer. We all have septic systems and that will never change. It looks like the developer is going to play nice with the town at first to request we stay with the adjacent town. If they say no, it looks like he may take them to court and then the DEP can force them to keep it. Worst case is we rebuild, but we'll see if the realistic legal action can take the place of common sense. Of course I may now need to have more meetings with town officials as a resident. Not all too thrilled about that.

Cheers. On the other side a good reason to vote out is that Disneyland Paris has tried to bring in a fake dole whip. To be honest, that's a good reason for invasion...

Revolt! There can be no faking the Dole Whip.

Thanks for the updates. It's certainly going to be a rough ride while everything gets sorted out. Wishing you the best of luck and will be following along.

Are you sure you weren't pumping moonshine out of there?

I wish! I was thinking more meth lab jokes.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Thank you so much for your warm welcome. I thought I was one in a million dad that loves Disney the way our family does.

August heading to Orlando to Upgrade my Florida Pass to AP
Septemeber - Fort Wilderness Camping YEAHHH!!!!
October - No Kids trip to FOOD AND WINE AND WINE AND FOOD lol.

Wow, three trips, I used to do that. Food and Wine sans kids is a huge bonus. Have fun.

Morning chaps from stormy London. Biggest vote in a generation for us today, so will be up late watching the political channels.

A very good friend of mine lives in the West Midlands and when he was here we talked about it. He voted out. I'm a political junkie and watched the BBC on the computer to check on the vote. A bit shocked by the result. Really love your Parliamentary elections when every candidate is on stage when they announce individual elections. You could have the PM standing next to someone from the Floppy Bottom party. Great theater.

I don't think I posted here last week, but last Friday our pump house (we have a community well that serves 54 homes) explodedpixiedust:.

Everyone flush at the same time?

Happy Thursday. All packed up at home. Just need to finish work in a few hours and then tournament bound. First match is tomorrow at 9:00 AM. I'll try to post something if not too tired.

Go out and KILL THEM. Pretend your opponent said something bad about Jasmine.

Happy Friday guys, less than a week until our one-day quick dash through the MK.

My sister is getting married tomorrow to her HS sweetheart. They went their separate ways after HS, she married and had a son, that guy (her husband not my nephew) was a total tool and she divorced him when my nephew was like 2. About 2 or 3 years ago, she and this guy reconnected via the magic of Facebook and now they are finally getting married, so it's a good weekend.

good afternoon.

I'm just checking in. I have nothing of value to contribute to the thread at this time.

Which makes this post as relevant as any of my previous posts.

oh, fun story:
i'm drinking at my desk this afternoon.

it's "America" - why Budweiser has been rebranded as America, i don't know.

but, I do know that when I drink it, i do say " 'Murica!" in my head.

I'm the same CJ. Will be watching the US elections, as US politics was my major at uni. We are all shocked, and London had a weird feel today, as no-one thought this would happen. But hey ho. We all have to move on. Thanks to all the dis dads for the good wishes.

That's a great story, enjoy your weekend

Back from tournament matches today, and it ain't good.

First, we had two jacka$$ players on our team flake out and not show up. I called it weeks ago, but didn't think they would do that. They both claimed year old injuries acted up. Whatever. I'm always injured. I just didn't figure they would chicken out. And to make it worse, I found out when I showed up to play. Thus, we have to default one out of 5 each time we play. Rant over.

Now, to the actual playing. We lost all 5 matches the first time. Lost at doubles and I did not play well the first match. Maybe my head wasn't in the right place. The team we played is undefeated though this tournament.

Onto the next group of matches. Won the doubles match, but the rest of the team lost. So, we have 1 point out of 10. We play again tomorrow at noon. I seriously doubt we will win the group or have best record to make it to semi finals.

Still, I'll bring it.

Represent well. Try not to be too drunk. :lmao:

Wait. You don't live in Kentucky? That would be the obvious answer. :rotfl:

.

More life of CJ.

Thanks for the encouragement. Doubt the results are going to be that different. I want to do my part though.

And puts you on the right thread. Off topic since there was a thread.

Evening gents. Working graveyard shift for tonight and tomorrow.
We'll see how alive I am after that...

Morning boys, from sunny London. In total disbelief.

I bet!!

I've been busy so only checked the results about an hour ago.
I knew of course that the majority would vote to stay in... the... uh... HOLY CRAP!

Happy weekend Dads. Great news in my house today. Oldest DD just got hired as a cashier at the local supermarket for the summer. And the best part is she gets a 10% employee discount. Hello prime rib! Not sure how many hours she'll get yet, but I'm just glad there won't be a teenager sulking around the house the *entire* summer. Now to convince her to save up some of her pay for university instead of clothes and makeup. Hmmm....

It certainly was a bit of a shocker, especially since the things I read before hand suggested the polls showed "remain" majority. Interesting to see how things progress now. Hopefully not too painful and the global markets calm down next week.

Good luck to him and the team. I had a quick look at the games website. It looks like mainly NB, NS and PEI teams. Is Newfoundland ever involved?

Too bad, but hope for the best.

Top O the Mornin Dad! I landed at gate 17 last night coming back from west coast trip and DW was there at gate 17 for her flight out to San Diego to visit DD. Talk about ships passing and coincidence. DW and I will now not see each other until July 9 as I head to Australia before she gets back - too much going on. DS and I will be hitting yard work heavy this weekend as the next 4 weekends I am not around, 2 traveling to / from Australia and 2 tied to Disney Cruise. Have a good weekend guys.

Enjoy storming the castle and nice story about your sister and the HS sweetheart.

All the best to you over there. News was showing multiple interviews with folks stating that they voted to leave but didn't think it would really happen and now wish they hadn't voted that way. Being reported that many were more protest voting and then oh oh"...

This is the second year they have had these games, totally organized by people in Saint John. They open it up to anyone that wants to come but I don't think they have had any Newfoundland teams yet. Pretty costly for you guys to get over here for a weekend tournament. I think there are some of the Newfoundland headed to the Bluenose basketball tournament in Halifax in a couple of weeks. They are planning on sticking around for the week to train with some of our teams before the Summerfest tournament in Saint John. When I was coaching volleyball your teams would usually make a 2 or 3 week tour of eastern Canada to get some games in.

DS and his team mates are 1-1 with one game left in pool play. Pretty easy one yesterday, 97-27 win and a 60-52 loss earlier today. His hard work has paid off as he has moved into a starting spot. He's the only underager on his team to start.

No, but around here I would say 1 in a 1000 anyway.

Welcome! When is your trip in October???

It's been a pretty poor level of debate TBH , with many in the UK feeling there is not an awful lot of fact, just a lot of spin, which has been particularly disappointing.
Sadly, that seems to be the heart of politics in the USA recently also. :sad2:

Well, tournament over for my team. Once again, won doubles but the rest of my team lost their matches. Score was 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-8. Funny story. I didn't realize it afterwards (otherwise I would have got a picture), but one of the opponents we played against was Browning Naegle, former UL and Jets QB. While he is 48, it still feels good to know I got the win against a professional athlete, even if he 5 years older than me. Probably not funny for him, given my conditioning. :sad2:

I am exhausted right now. Showered and food, but I don't plan on moving too much more until tomorrow.

Congrats to her. I started bagging groceries and hauling in carts. Then, went to cashier and then to bakery/ deli department where I learned how to cook. It helped pay for college.

Have a great trip and enjoy Australia. Can you sponsor me for the Australian Open next year? :lmao:

Nice beating Naegle. Take today off and have the family take care of Dad.

Again thanks for the good vibes bud. Absolutely. Most people who I have spoken to (or chastised) for voting out are having a huge wave of buyer's remorse. The Out campaign doesn't even have a plan. The three main campaign promises have been either watered down or walked away from. I have truly never seen anything like this.
It is populism at its absolute worst, and I never thought it would happen in this country.

Rant over. Anyway, 52 days till WDW!!!
