DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Top O the Mornin Dads! Heading out to Italy for business - got about 22 hours of total travel time today / tomorrow. Folks all think a trip to Italy is "great" but long business travel for nothing but 12 hours a day of business related activities is far from fun. Pays for Disney trips though! Have a great weekend with the families.
Too bad you can't spend a bit more time in Italy in your own. I've always wanted to visit Italy. Mostly for the food, of course!

Evening Gents!

Hope you all had a great Friday. Mine consisted of 2 meetings, one all morning (well worth the time) one all afternoon (complete waste of time). Then went to dinner with DS and DW at Montana's and now home to watch the Raptors and Pacers. Out of town tomorrow for volleyball and hopefully Sunday will be a sleep in day.

Off to get a beer and watch the game.

Get to Italy Saturday 10:00 am there (3:00 am body clock). Work thing starts Sunday afternoon and then I get home Thursday night after another 22 hours of travel. 3 flights each way for total of 6 to get me there and back

I think Casey had some international posts from S. Korea, Paul had posts from England, but this is first post from Italy.

I went with my mom and grandmom when I was in school. I have two aunts that live in Europe, one in France and the other in Italy. I was too young to engage in the international party scene though.

Morning folks.
Decided to take the Harley to work today.
Supposed to be nice (around 17C/63F) this afternoon.
But it was only 0C/32F when I left the house.
It only started to hurt after 20 minutes, so not bad.

Happy Saturday afternoon. Been raining all day, but I played indoor tennis this AM so it didn't bother me. :lmao: Watching NY and TB NHL playoffs. Hope everyone has a great, relaxing weekend.

I had a friend in college who kept a bike instead of car to save money. He said it sucked driving it in the winter, but we only have snow a few times a season.

It makes zero economic sense to own a bike up here. I do it because I want to. Not because it saves money, 'cause it sure doesn't.
Maybe if I didn't have a car in addition to the bike? Then yeah. But you can't ride a bike in our winter, so...

Top O the Mornin Dads! Had some free time here in Northern Italy, town of Peschiera Del Garda. Company has us at a real nice resort so can't complain. Have only free time today until work stuff starts tonight and of course it's raining all day. Here's a lake view at resort and local vineyard. Alps are in the background.

Not to be on topic but got good news from DVC yesterday. My waitlist for January 4 came through at the Boardwalk. So we are good to go Marathon Weekend. Will be there the 4th - 10th. So I guess we will be at DDC whatever number it is. Anyone else? And Randall, You can put my dates up if you want.

As an aside to anyone interested, I think registration for the races is tomorrow. Check out the Run Disney site for more information. Already registered the Pirate Princess for the marathon using the DVC pre-sale.

Page one updated!

Sorry it took so long, I'm getting slowing my old age.

Good morning everyone! Sunny day here in MN and maybe go out and finish my yard drainage project today (been sitting since last weekend as rained all week). Can any of you make May disappear so we can get to the World faster?

Happy Sunday. Watched the Heat cream Charlotte and now the Marlins getting creamed by the Brewers.

Well, a big kick in the teeth this AM. University cuts announced. None of the faculty raises given last year were cut, but tuition benefit cut, vacation time cut, and cell phone allowance cut. Obviously, no raise and I'm sure we'll get an even worse insurance plan next year.

However, the most significant issue is that all programs will be renegotiated for increased internal costs, which worse case scenario would be program elimination. More likely, there would be layoffs. So, a state of concern for the next two months.

I know how that feels. I work in oil & gas which is a very scary industry these days. I've managed to keep my job (for now) but took a significant pay cut early this year. Another reason I have no magical trip planned right now. Let's hope for the best for all of us.

Tough to hear guys. Hang in there and hope good news comes your way.

They are going out looking at dresses this weekend ............. $$$$$$$

Ouch. Glad it is you and not me.

Nice pics. Tough travel times but at least you have great wine and food available to sample.

How you doing boss? No worries for taking a little bit of time to post it.

Happy Sunday everyone. It is a beautiful day here. Some rain early, but not high 70s and sunny. Played outdoor tennis with the youngest and went grocery shopping. So, I was able to enjoy some it. I'm ready for a nap.

Well, if you enjoy it and can afford it, then it makes sense. Kinda like Disney vacations. :lmao:

Nice pictures. Enjoy for the little time you have.

Someone could hit you in the head with a hammer and it may be June when you wake up? :lmao:

Thanks.

Morning Gents, welcome to Monday.

Suppose to have a bit of rain up here today, something that is needed.

DS's volleyball team won the regional JV volleyball tournament on the weekend and will enter provincials this weekend as a 1 seed. They have yet to lose a match this year so it will be an upset if they don't bring home that banner. Going to be a busy day for him today (and that means me as well) - volleyball practice followed by a basketball practice.

Played soccer again last night, another 2-2 draw.

Some reports to finish up today and a blood donor clinic to finish up the afternoon. All in all I wish I was in Florida.

Have a good one.

It's Monday again. Anyone know where I put the weekend, it seems to have escaped me.

DD's hoop team was missing 5 players in the state tournament over the weekend so needless to say, did not do too well. We were missing 3 starters and our back up point guard. DD played well, but hard to beat the top teams in the state with half a roster and kids brought up to fill in from a weaker team.

DS pitched a 5 inning shut out on Saturday (slaughter rule). With 8 K's and only 2 hits. Pretty good outing for him.

Vacation time cut!:scared::sad2::sad2: How are you going to beat last years time off record. Seriously, sorry to hear of the cutbacks. Hope it gets better and certainly hoping no layoffs. I'll just sprinkle a little pixie dust around for you.

Yeah, not a good industry right now. Prayers it all works out. Good luck.

Missing 5 players for the state championship!! Seems strange, where was the commitment? Glad to hear your DD played well.

Nice outing for your DS!!

Supposed to rain here all week. April showers are expected. May not so much.:mad: Congrats to Declan on the volleyball wins and being the top seed. I wish I was in FL with you. I say you start driving now and pick me up on the way by.

Apparently, these girls play soccer and their town soccer coach told them if they missed soccer they would lose their spots on the team. Kind of an a$$ from what one of the parents(the one that told him off and showed at hoop) said. I hate coaches like that. The kids are 13 and should play multiple sports. Winning is not the ultimate goal in the town setting in my opinion. Our final elimination game was at 7:20PM. Kind of expected them to show for that one. I would move DD from the program, but the coach is excellent and her improvement with this program has been unbelievable. And that is the main goal. Getting better at hoops and enjoying the sport. Frustrating though as we could have made a good run. Finished second last year.

Wish I could start driving now and if I did, I would stop and pick you up.

Yup that soccer coach is clueless.

Monday morning already? It always seems to sneak up on me every week following Sunday.

But, good news this AM. I finally lost the weight I put in October following the vacation week, plantar fasciitis, inactivity recovery, and steroids. I still have many many many pounds to go, and am happy I made that goal.

Probably could, but don't think that will work out so well.

Probably not. Sorry, that is the extent of my time travel abilities. :lmao:

Was that you out there during that Leicester City vs Man United game? :lmao:

Good luck to DS at volleyball.

Yeah, I shouldn't complain as much. I'll still get 20 vacation days a year in addition to the 25 school holiday/ Fed leave days. It's the other cuts that will hurt more. Still, just tired of trickle down economics. But, if I was at the top, then I guess I would be all for it.

Congrats to ds on the pitching and good luck to dd in basketball going forward.
