DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning all! After a stormy few days, it's an absolutely bright and beautiful morning here in St. Louis. A sunny 60 degrees with a high of 74. Yahoo for spring!!!

Our Magic Bands arrived yesterday. A little over 3 weeks until we leave and the kids still don't know. :genie:

Yeah, very chilly on Ohio for this time of year, but no snow in the forecast, so I am happy with that.

And good morning everyone.

Well, a big kick in the teeth this AM. University cuts announced. None of the faculty raises given last year were cut, but tuition benefit cut, vacation time cut, and cell phone allowance cut. Obviously, no raise and I'm sure we'll get an even worse insurance plan next year.

However, the most significant issue is that all programs will be renegotiated for increased internal costs, which worse case scenario would be program elimination. More likely, there would be layoffs. So, a state of concern for the next two months.

Yeah, the missing school part was the big discussion for DD. It's only 3 days and it's still 8th grade so nothing on the permanent transcript.:thumbsup2 Kidding. We'll make sure to get the work and keep up. Planning to fly out Wednesday morning and back on Sunday. A few days of fun, some exercise and rumor has it a lot of dads hang around that weekend:confused3.

The $$ was the easy part as we have points on both the Disney Visa and Southwest Airlines accounts that should pay for the hotel and flights. We have 3 park days on old non-expiring tickets from years ago so even that is paid for already. Just some food and stuff if we decide. I get it though. Cheaper to join the gym.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

We the dvc points, so the cost would only be food & tickets. I don't care about them missing school, as I see that it is run as efficiently as my university. It ends up being more work on us for missed homework and tests. Some of the teachers are already douche bags when it comes to making up a test when home sick for strep throat.

Confirmation was a big deal when I was a kid. We went to the Knights of Columbus and had a party. Nothing like a bunch of goofy teen Catholic boys discovering girls were cute and did not have cooties. Barb Melfi in her confirmation dress, melted my heart.

Nice pic, congrats to your daughter. Oh and get a shotgun, you are going to need it.

We don't have a KC group at our current church, but I'm familiar with them from other parishes I've been a member of. I always thought the swords were cool.

As for those shotguns, I have two and they are both loaded. :lmao:

They grow up too dang fast!
.

::yes::

And get married. How's that going?

I know how that feels. I work in oil & gas which is a very scary industry these days. I've managed to keep my job (for now) but took a significant pay cut early this year. Another reason I have no magical trip planned right now. Let's hope for the best for all of us.

Sorry to hear guys and hoping all works out. Seems everywhere these days pay/benefits are being cutback, got the same going on here if it helps you feel any better.

That is an awesome mail delivery, but I still don't like the MBs. I still like the KTTW cards.

I've read about the cuts in your industry recently. Sorry to hear about the pay cuts and hope it gets better soon.

They are going out looking at dresses this weekend ............. $$$$$$$

Are you selling a kidney? :lmao:

Thanks. I'm willing to relocate or try something new. DW can't see past the city. There aren't as many opportunities here.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear that guys, hope you both come out of this one on top.

Read about the Newfoundland budget the other day, it was a harsh one.

Behind as usual and getting more behind so no time to go back. Prayers, congratulations, and bacon as appropriate.

Ouch. Prayers that you make it through. No word for us yet whether central campus will absorb the cuts or pass it on. I see they limited tuition increases at the state level so not only do they cut our funding but limit our ability to make it up. There are only so many grants to go around.

Hope things turn around for you.

morning
small caps
too tired to hit the shift bar
or punctuate

I hate short changes at work

Work is sucking today.. Well it started last night at 6pm, and at 8am we are still working on the issues. Of course that means we have a ton of VP's on the call looking over our shoulders and pointing out what we should have done better at 2am. <sigh>

Top O the Mornin Dads! Heading out to Italy for business - got about 22 hours of total travel time today / tomorrow. Folks all think a trip to Italy is "great" but long business travel for nothing but 12 hours a day of business related activities is far from fun. Pays for Disney trips though! Have a great weekend with the families.

Good morning guys. Happy Friday. I know I've been bad about posting in here lately, but with the ability to keep up with everyone on FB, I've been spending most of my seemingly diminishing Dis time in the TR thread. Just trying to pop and see how everyone's doing.

Read the rest... was going to say "nice!" but...

Happy Friday. Enough said. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Thanks. But, we still have money to redesign dorms with an architecture firm consultation. Clearly, higher education is failing in its intent to educate.

It's still Italy though. Have a safe trip.
