DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
We get to attend one of those Thursday evening. K - 3, I believe.

I can hardly contain my excitement.

Been to many... many of those. The little ones are hillarious.

From your assessment, that's not bad odds for most school functions.
Enjoy the second round as well. I suspect that it will be more consistent.

I suspect so too.

We're heading up into the mountains this weekend to hear similar winter music offerings, but being college level groups, the percentages should be rather different. Our boy will be part of two of the numerous performances, once with his quartet playing a piece arranged by one of the other members and then again with the universities premier wind ensemble.
Should be an excellent afternoon of music all around.

That should be excellent.

My youngest tends to overthink things like this. This year she made a request that the Elf not come to stay with us so we had to assure her that we had texted Rosie and asked her not to visit this year but to monitor from the North Pole.

Good deal, sounds like a good time & enjoy round two. All the best to DD on her musical interests.

Thanks!

Morning folks. Winter concert at the younger DD's high school last night. 25% great, 25% really good, 12.5% good. 12.5% awful.
So overall a win I guess. And I get to do it all over again tonight. Hoping for better percentages this go around since it'll be more of the older grades.

Just need to change your perspective a bit. A batting average over .300 will stand you in good company so just pretend it is baseball.

'Morning all...
Slowly but surly things are returning to something akin to normal (whatever that is).
Of course being in the midst of the holiday season everything is all scrambled and rushed.
Got the tree up and lights on it. Now to do the rest of the decorating.

Very cool. Both the group and the mission.
What kind of dulcimers; hammered, strummed, both?

I'm scheduled to start working with our church choir next week on the bass part for their yearly cantata, with a similar goal to play for a couple retirement groups as well as the congregation. Bass is not my favorite nor best skill when it comes to stringed interments but it is what they need this time around.

lot of music going on 'round here I see...
That's a good thing.

(discounting the six hours driving up and back , of course)

:lmao:
They gott'a start some where.
Have gladly attended my share of those presentations and experience tells me that: "with much enthusiasm", will likely be the best description for this truly joyful noise.
Have fun... Really!

Glad things are coming around. DS and I play Appalachian Dulcimers and are just learning. They are not difficult but I wouldn't call us great performers. I spent too many years playing trumpet and as long as you have air you have a note. I keep forgetting to strum the longer notes more than once.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Looks like I am headed for a root canal or two so off to the Endodontist first thing tomorrow morning. Bright side, 180 day mark for me and DS trip to DaWorld is Saturday so get to lock and load on dining resies. Working through month end / almost year end listening to Christmas tunes, and not be a downer but the song "The Christmas Shoes" just ended. For those that are familiar with this song it is not the most uplifting of Holiday music (give me Bing any day) but it does put things in perspective. So while we all are going a bit crazy this time of year, lets all make sure we enjoy it all as much as possible.

Ouch. Best wishes with the root canal.

Still too early for me to listen to much Christmas music, but I enjoy Bing anytime.

My prayers go out to the families in California. These shootings are terrible, and the media commentary even worse.

Struggling to get back into the swing of things after a week off. Leftovers are gone other than some country ham.
.

Mmmmmmm........ham.

Yeah, I've sit through those multiple showings. Good luck.

!

Glad to hear things are getting back to normal. I'm not in the rushed and stressed mode of the holidays, but am not dealing well with the cold weather.

Life is hectic right now with Projects at work, home additions, and the DW's Etsy store being busier than she can keep up with. It's good to be busy and see success happen but I'll be glad when things slow back down a bit so I have time to smell those roses.

I still have fax capability but they are sent and received from my email. I may use it once every few years.
.

Busy Etsy means more $, so that is a good thing. I wish I had something I could do to make more money. I thought about getting my tennis certification, but I couldn't sell that on Etsy. :lmao:

The fax machine at work is thru the copier, just like everything else (scan, print, copy). I just realized it had been years since I used one.

Usually, it would be great to look forward to the weekend, but there is a basketball game tonite and swim meet Saturday. I think this sport seasons ends in February. :sad1:

I haven't done anything since the end of October other than a bit of walking. Still getting some pain in my heel, hopefully some more rest will help it go away. Two bball games here on Saturday, I must say it is much easier when all you have to do is drive.

You do seem to get called for a lot of extra time. What is it you work at?

What? You don't want to work full time?

Hi Nick! Good to hear from you. How's the restaurant business?

Business is great!! Only promblem is my vacation time is really lacking. I used to get 4 weeks paid vacation at my old job and now i loose money to go on vacation. I still enjoy it so I cant complain, it has been a little quiet today, so im able to get in some dis time.

Hope all is well with you, I'll be honest I havent been able to even check in very often, but when I do its been pretty quiet around here.

Afternoon fine gentlemen :rotfl2:
Morning Gents,

According to the Carnival website, we have 23 days until we cruise!!

:cool1::cool1::cool1:
Outstanding - enjoy!

Good to hear that you are having just old guy aches and that the foot is getting better. Regarding the kids event, suck it up buttercup 'cause you are gonna miss it when it ain't there anymore.

In the Air Traffic Industry.
I prefer the air traffic industry to be well rested and awake so glad to hear you did not take a 6:30 am - 11 pm shift :scared:

Math is hard. I guess your busy. :lmao:

I've never had one of those, but I understand how the concept works. I'll pass. :scared1:

?

Only playing one day a week has helped, but I miss playing more. Indoor tennis is expensive at $24 an hour for Court time and that doesn't count membership fees.

No, I won't miss Chauffeuring them everywhere and all there sport fees. I'm fairly confident with that assertion.

Yeah. Sometimes you just have to know when enough's enough.
I know that when there's an incident one of the first things they look at is fatigue.
