DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
DW's Bday today and then our anniversary on Sunday (12 years married - we dated for 7 months, got engaged and got married 16 months after my proposal so that we could get married on her grandparents' anniversary). Crazy time for us with these 2 events, end of school and heading to the beach next weekend.
I got the wife a Bluetooth conversion kit for her 2008 Honda Ody since it didn't have that technology built in yet.
I also got her 3 Alex and Ani Disney bracelets.
My wife is one of those moms that is involved with everything so she is chaperoning Field Day at our girls' school. What a birthday treat, huh? So the birthday gets lost in the craziness. Last night I got her a potted Hydrangea and some disney balloons for her to wake up to this morning. Hopefully she was pleasantly surprised to find them and will enjoy the bracelets tonight.

Happy birthday to your DW and Happy Anniversary to you both.

Walt Disney Productions is granted a trademark of "Mickey Mouse" for use in books and newspaper comic strips.

Oh, like that venture will ever go anywhere.

I actually uttered the words "Ah, Crap. It's Friday" today. In my defense, my alarm had just gone off and I was wondering just why I had set it to go off on a Saturday morning.

Hey, at least you still have the weekend ahead of you.

Name? No I don't mind you asking.
Most people call me pkondz or ponzi.
My actual first name is posted on my TR.

It is? I don't recall seeing that.

Happy Friday.

I did the same, except that I thought it was Saturday as yesterday was the last day of school. Good news is that I have two more days off.

Friday is here gents! Get through your respective work day and then get the heck out of the office as quick ya can execute.

I left around noon, did some grocery shopping, and cut the grass. It is a beautiful day outside.

Dropped DS off at school at 5:30 this morning for his grade 8 trip to Ottawa, back on Tuesday night. Adults only weekend here with a wedding thrown in for fun.
.

Is DW taking a friend with her? Who is the other adult? :crazy2: :lmao:

Happy Anniversary.

About time you made a honest woman out of her...

Now, we really don't want our wives to be that honest about us, do we? :scared1:  :scared1:

You must be Mormon? Otherwise marrying the employee while still being married to your DW would be frowned upon.

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

Well, Darcy is Canadian.

Happy Belated Birthday to our Chief Bacon Officer!

900 sweet potato plants set today, fence up and baited for the deer so the last of the summer plots are in the ground. Now I will have a couple of weeks to try to get caught up on emails, reports, calls and everything else I hope. The plan of now is to take the family to the "vacation" :headache: house this weekend, buy a car and come back to KY to get everything back shipshape here before they return in a couple of months. Never seems to be a dull moment but it beats a sharp stick in the eye.

... Yeah, the school frowns on beer drinking as a talent at age 13. :lmao:

Fart noises with your armpit, belching the alphabet, lifting your leg to fart? I don't have high expectations for the local public schools.

Not a good pic but sunrise in Indonesia, taken about 30 min. ago. She is still fighting jet lag and was up at 4 today. The bag saga continues. They were supposedly picked up yesterday but the guy that picked them up can not get there until later today.

A panorama shot.

Excellent shots! My beach in the Philippines faced the South China Sea so all I got was sunsets. Tell her not to eat the local fruit or she will be disappointed with the bananas, mangoes, and pineapples for the rest of her life. I haven't had a good banana since I left The Philippines.

Trying and it looks like it will only be an hour late tonight.

Happy Birthday to your better half and happy anniversary to you both!

Indonesia update. The bags finally got to her and she says everything seems to be there. She continues to have a blast despite the primitive nature of the camp. Showers are basically buckets, the cabins are shacks but they do have mosquito netting around the bed and you don't want to even talk about the John. The diving is spectacular and now that she has her camera housing, she can take some U/W pics.

Not sure what she is eating but I imagine fruit is on the menu. I think she only gets sunrises unless she goes out on the boat for a night dive. If anything is going to get ruined though, it will be diving anywhere else.

Happy Birthday To Your DW and Happy Anniversary To You Both, Brett!
Thank you, Randall. Glad to see you are on the mend, too. Post can be rough and while it's nice to have some meds to take off the edge, I haven't found them useful for daily activities. When i had my surgery last July I avoided the "good stuff" until bed time. I hope you're healing quickly and not being too much more of a pain for your wife. LOL.

God bless your daughter and her adventurous spirit. Between my various levels of OCD, travel anxiety, as well as general rage, I would have lost my sh!t by now. Seems like she's taking it all in stride. Hopefully your own worries will lessen as the days get ticked off of the calendar. I'm sure that she'll have a great experience.

Happy Belated Birthday to our Chief Bacon Officer!
Indeed, I think I missed this...but better late than never. Hope you had a great day, Randall!

Happy Birthday to your better half and happy anniversary to you both!
Thank you. Low key celebration on Sunday. We're heading to an establishment that I have frequented for 20+ years now.
My name is on their "Wall of Foam" 3 or 4 times. http://www.fatheads.com/
I highly recommend it to anyone that visits Pittsburgh or Cleveland.

Good Afternoon Disney Friends!

Today in Disney History:

1944:
In the early morning hours, Allied forces (made up of mostly soldiers from the U.S., United Kingdom, and Canada) invade the Nazi-held Normandy coast of France as D-Day (or the Normandy Invasion) begins. It has been often speculated that "Mickey Mouse" may have been used as a password for the invasion by the Allied forces. In particular - it is believed Naval officers gathering for a secret briefing at a southern port used "Mickey Mouse" as a password to gain entry. Taking part in D-Day was Solomon Hersh Frees (also known as voice actor Paul Frees of Disney's Haunted Mansion fame). He was wounded in action and returned home for a year of recuperation. D-Day was the greatest seaborne invasion mankind had ever seen and a major turning point in World War II.

1959:
The Submarine Voyage attraction (inspired by the 1954 Disney film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea) opens in Disneyland's updated Tomorrowland. (It will be officially dedicated 8 days later.) The 8 vessels (not actual submarines as they do not submerge) are named Nautilus, Seawolf, Skate, Skipjack, Triton, George Washington, Patrick Henry, and Ethan Allen. Portholes along the sides allowed guests to view the many underwater sights. It is one of the first rides to require an E-ticket.
Also on this day, the Autopia's original track is modified to accommodate the new Fantasyland Autopia.

2002:
After a complete mechanical and exterior restoration, the Roy O. Disney steam locomotive is rededicated in a ceremony at the Main Street USA Train Station at Walt Disney World. His son, Roy E. Disney, who is vice chairman of The Walt Disney Company, participates in the ceremony along with Michael Campbell and Darrell Holmquist, members of the Board of Governors of the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society. (Named in honor of the co-founder of The Walt Disney
Company, the engine represents the only object in any Disney theme park to carry Roy O. Disney's name.)

2015:
Andriana, Cj's DD, received her lost bags. All is well in the world.

Glad to hear the bags finally made it and she is doing ok. It is really cool that she gets to live out this dream.

If I ever meet you I'll tell you what I do. It's just too complicated. Not secret.
Involves safe movement of air traffic.

Name? No I don't mind you asking.

Ah, Thank you.

Afternoon guys. Nice day down here, not as hot and humid. Still hot and humid, just not as hot and humid.
