DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
No extraction team appeared. They went to sleep around 2:30 AM, and are awake and raiding the donuts now. Only a few more hours.

At least they went to sleep.:lmao: Last overnight by DD, they waited until the sun came up to go to bed. No donuts. We made our special chocolate Chips pancakes with Canadian Syrup courtesy of Darcy.

Had loads of great replies and posts set up yesterday but the bloody Disboards App kept quitting connection.

Feel free to back and post them now.

Full day of Upward basketball today. Ethan scored 10 points. Glad I only obligated to a dollar a point and not 5 bucks a basket!

Congratulations to Ethan!

Thanks. To top it off judging by my post I forgot how to use multi- quote properly

Post padder!:lmao::lmao:

Thanks Dave. My major bummer is letting the girls down. If things don't plan out I want to come up with another plan I want at least one event each summer for them. Our cottage has been torn down so that's no longer an option.

Doubt that the girls will ever think you let them down. Hope you find a plan for summer fun and I am sure you will. Continued best to you and the family.

It is pretty cool hearing other parents cheer for you kid by name and have no idea how the know him lol :rotfl:

Always cool to hear people cheering your kid on. Congrats to Ethan.

Spent most of the day clearing snow. The weather channel says the band is out to sea. My window says otherwise.:headache: I am guessing 10-12 inches overall today. Anther 12 inches forecast for Monday night into Tuesday. I know we haven't had snow this winter, but does it all have to come in one week.:scared:

Going to actually reach the low 50's this week. Sucks to be here. The kid is on a school sponsored ski trip this weekend. Would like to fly up for a weekend, ski a bit and fly back down here. Then head to the Keys to lay in the sun. Seriously, stay safe man. Same to all you Yankees.

Don't talk to me about sleepovers until you take your daughter and seven of her 16 YO friends for a weekend at WDW. Wimps.

Confused as to why I couldn't find any hockey scores tonight. All Star break I think it's over now between me and hockey. That lockout year proved I didn't miss it at all and with the poor play of the Leafs just are the nails in the coffin.

Think I'll just stick to make believe sports like WWE, or Quidditch

True true, just want to make the most of it while we can. Amelia is ten now and starting to practice her moody teenager phase ahead of schedule. Soon she won't want to go ( unless it's WDW, cause I mean, come on!).

So the visit today with FIL was cut short, he wasn't going or feeling well so DW and his neighbour finally talked him into going to emerg. Turns out he has a fever which isn't helping the breathing right now. He's got oxygen and sone morphine and kick-*** antibiotics and should be home by Monday/Tuesday. Some pluses came out if this which is he qualifies for oxygen at home and some other meds to help keep him comfy, is going to get nursing care a couple of times a day and be able to access one if needed otherwise, and some other things that will ease his burden and hopefully DW's stress. Also she talked with sone people who were in and are going to do some checking around to see if they can help with the final arrangements when it happens because there is a strong chance he'd worked around and handled asbestos in the past, which would cover everything. As DW said tonight is the end game is planned out.

All I want now is to be there and help DW through this, worried about this stress on her and her health which hasn't been fantastic of late. Not anything serious, just a lot if little things wearing her down and chipping away at her.

Praying for Jodi's father, her, you and the rest of your family Brent.

Hi David! Did you check and see what other character breakfasts are available for the day you were looking for?

Thanks for all the suggestions. 1900 PF and Ohana both had availability. We are still telling the kids its hypothetical that we are talking about going. Chef Mickey's came up, because its the one character breakfast on the loop we haven't tried. Now I remember why, lol.

I have zero issues checking everyday ;)::yes::

Brent, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, especially your DW. We had very short notice (less than a week) for my mother. It is indeed a very stressful time. Continue to encourage her to reach out for help and I pray she she can treasure this time with her father.

Morning Guys.

Jim, I can't believe you still have any syrup left.

No basketball this weekend, except watching. Spend the day on a planning meeting all day yesterday, today I going to make like gym and head out to shovel snow. It hit here late yesterday Jim but it looks to be the light and fluffy kind.

Wow this is early on a Sunday for me...SFIL even commented on the fact.

Another factor is what other character meals have you planned? We will factor in a mix of characters if possible.

Yeah this is where I fall short knowing what to do, We were told Dad had a few hours left out if the blue and was gone in a few days after that so never dealt with a longer period to prep. She would love more time but life and distance is against us. We are doing what we can.

Morning all. 8:00 AM and everyone is still asleep, recovering from last night's lack of sleep.

It's a sad situation with FIL but not unforeseen. He's been through cancer before and should have used it as a wake up call to curb the smoking but he still goes as much as ever. He needs to be on oxygen but won't since he'd have to quit. Still I know DW is upset and trying to hold it together so I go along as best I can to support her.

Prayers for your DW and FIL. Like you, I don't want to let my dds down. However, when you consider all that we do for our families, it is doubtful anyone posting here as a "dis dad" is letting down their family. Try not to be so hard on yourself.

It is pretty cool hearing other parents cheer for you kid by name and have no idea how the know him lol :rotfl:

I've been places, without a dd, and called by their first name's dad. At first, I thought that I no longer have an identity other than a father. Then I thought, that's ok by me.

.

Stay safe. Hopefully, the snow won't be as bad.

I have neither that many DVC points nor credit cards for that type of trip at WDW. :lmao:

Yeah but I like to set the bar high.

Today went okay, DW's best friend is also in town this weekend so the three of us went out for a few hours and let DW vent laugh etc

Only tragedy is we went to a Golden Corral. Why, why, why??

Evening guys. Spent yesterday clearing snow, and today trying to get ready for our trip later this week. 1-2 feet more snow coming tomorrow night though, so we'll have to deal with that first! :faint:

Prayers for you guys. Glad you were able to have some laughs, even if it was at Golden Corral...

Did not spend yesterday clearing snow and I will not be worrying about 1-2 feet more snow tomorrow. But I am also not preparing for a trip.

Winner?

Paul.

Stay safe up there guys.

Gents - been away fro the boards longer than I'd like. Crazy weekend. I'll catch up this week. But from a quick glance, seems like Brent has some stuff going on. Prayers for you and the fam, And to anyone else in need.

Why do I listen to the side of reason:confused3

This morning I came so close to booking a flight that would have left around 7 tonight, needless to say I would be at WDW now:cool1:, But knowing that 12-24ins of snow is on it's way, I'm feeling rather dumb since my wife and son would be home anyway once it snows:confused3, myself I have to work Mon, off Tues, and hey I have a whole new year of sick days:thumbsup2

It's the AP saying come on down, we will hook you up with some nice weather:thumbsup2

Morning Guys.

Nice sunny day here today but freezing. The storm that is suppose to swamp New England today is suppose to hit here tomorrow. The forecast has it starting around 6 am and I have a flight out at 6:30 am, wonder if I will get out.

'Morning all...
Pretty much spent the weekend Hibernating. It' rare that I get to do that.

Stay safe up there in the path of the storm
and prayers where needed.
