DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Merry Christmas Eve. Today is Christmas 3 or maybe just Christmas 2. Does going to the house and waiting on th front door count? :confused3 :crazy2:

I can understand your frustration w\ the in-laws. Your logic is solid too. I suspect that it makes your wife feel better or at least eases unnecessary feelings of guilt. In the words of Beverly D' Angelo in Christmas vacation, "I don't know what to say, except it's Christmas and we're all in misery."
!

DW is up making herself crazy along with the pies to take to the lunch buffet. Then, it is four hours of merriment of waiting an hour for all the Wonderful family members who refuse to show up on time. Of course, we can't eat the food until they arrive because they are so honored - DW's dad, uncle, sister, brother, cousins, cousins, ex-relatives, non-relatives, etc. I was hoping to catch the WKU Bowl game today, but since none of them like sports, it won't happen. Then, a mad dash to make Mass tonight so that we can do this tomorrow with the other divorced parent with a smaller but still crazy crowd. :crazy2:

Missing second Christmas......Priceless.:lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Welcome to the craziness that is my life.

:lmao: that's hilarious.

So, did she make an effort to pretend she wasn't there or was it like, oh it's them don't answer the door.

The two dds ran ahead of me, so I was a little further back my the time I reached the door. But, I thought I heard her voice inside, but I didn't say anything. My older dd then asked if I heard her? So, I guess there is a chance that the two of us just heard the wind howling and thought it was her. At least I taught my dds the effort of Christmas? :crazy2:

Merry Christmas Eve!! Or as we call it in the liquor stores, "Armageddon"

More shopping craziness. Now I'm worried that I don't have enough hooch to make the weekend.

Morning Guys,

Hope that you all have a fantastic Christmas Eve!

I need new goblets. Just having a Shepard's Neame's Christmas Ale. This is a list of beers I've got stashed away:

2 Goose Island Pere Jacques
2 Golden Carolous Cuvee Van De Kaiser
Unibroue17
Unibroue La Resolution
2 Eggenberg Sammiclaus
Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome Ale
Great Lakes (Toronto Micro) Winter Ale
Black Oak Nutcraker Porter
Muskoka Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout
Chocolate Manifesto triple chocolate stout
Hogtown's Aporkalypse Now Bacon Oatmeal Stout
Black Oak Epiphany #1 Cherrywood aged Belgian style Quad
Great Lakes Beard of Zeus
Bush Pilots's Norseman (Eisbock aged in Armagnac barrels-14.5%!)
St Bernardus Christmas Ale
Midtfyns Brughus Chili Triple(from Denmark) (Belgian triple with chili peppers)
Arctic Air strong beer from Finland
Toronto's Amsterdam's Vicar's Vice Olde Ale
Fuller's Vintage Ale (2014 edition...will likely let this age a while)
Also against better judgement I picked up the just released (up here)Rogue Voodoo Pretzel Raspberry Chocolate Ale
Also have a bottle of a Belgian Style winter spice ale a co-worker who home brews gave me to sample.

If budget dictates I'd like to grab some more Steamworks Blitzen, another Belgian style triple out of BC that I had and really liked.

Yum! There's a lot there that I've never had. I do attempt to get new beers whenever able.

A Very Merry Christmas Eve to everyone! Wishing this great group of Dads joy and happiness over the next couple of Holiday weeks. Enjoy your family time (hang in there Norm) and may everyone be at peace during this time of year. Prayers to those in need and to all kids, may Santa make their morning happy.

Again, to a great group of guys - Cheers and Merry Christmas.

Reminds of the movie Avalon. "YOU CUT THE TURKEY?" Some of you may know it.

My sister did that to me one Thanksgiving. I said screw it, we are eating. When they did show up, her and her clan were relegated to the kids' table. Good luck the next two days Norm.

Knocking out the last bit of the cleaning, finishing up the last of the baking, prepping the roasting and "imbibements", a performance at the Candlelight Service this evening and we're there...

A very merry Christmas to all the brethren, happy holidays to those so inclined, a joyful day and evening for the rest and a glorious New Year to each and all.

Gents, it's an honor to be here.

May your spirit have the strength to endure the varying degrees of cra-cra!:clown:

Be as patient as possible with the DW and DDs and if you get desperate for alcohol, you can always pretend that you are running over to the neighbors for eggs\sugar\etc. but get a shot or two.

Gents, it's an honor to be here.

Prepped our breakfast casserole, getting girls bathed and such, then some final cleaning. We then head over to pick up DW from the pharmacy and meet my SIL and nieces for Mass. After that it's off to in-laws for dinner and presents. My girls are so excited they can barely contain themselves but God bless them, they have been really good today despite the anxiousness and excitement.

Yup, it's called 6:00pm

DW can't wait to pick me up tonight to watch the show, she wants a good spot to watch people run up to the door after we close banging kicking and pleading. Dad loved it too.

Also DW is surprising the girls to an afternoon. Matinee of Big Hero 6 ! She was worried I'd be upset for missing it but all good.

No kids table. Food not serve until 12:30. Only 30minutes late - an improvement.

Merry Christmas Eve Fellas!

Time to go to bed or else Santa won't come. Good night guys!!

Merry Christmas guys!! I hope everyone has a wonderful day, and hope y'all's DSs and DDs were good this year!!!

A very Merry Christmas to all. Duck, hope the kids have a great first Christmas in the US.

Tried to stay up to catch santa but fell asleep around 1:00. Seems he stopped by and left a few presents for the Pirate Princess. Randall, you did not wake me so I guess you are pretty sneaky. Also, where is my stuff?

Dinner today is going to be relatively simple:

Caprese salad
Turkey and gravy for me since I missed it on Thanksgiving
Some tofu thing for the kid
Mashed potato casserole
Roasted aspragus and garlic
Sautéed portabella mushrooms
Fresh made biscuits

Dessert will probably be at the neighbors

Have a great day guys and enjoy time with the family.

Merry Christmas boys. I hope Santa was good to everyone. Our living room is a mix of Star Wars and American Girl Doll stuff. I have 2 girls. LOL. I'll start cooking soon but just enjoying watching the kids and some tasty breakfast casserole and coffee.
