Merry Christmas Eve. Today is Christmas 3 or maybe just Christmas 2. Does going to the house and waiting on th front door count?
DW is up making herself crazy along with the pies to take to the lunch buffet. Then, it is four hours of merriment of waiting an hour for all the Wonderful family members who refuse to show up on time. Of course, we can't eat the food until they arrive because they are so honored - DW's dad, uncle, sister, brother, cousins, cousins, ex-relatives, non-relatives, etc. I was hoping to catch the WKU Bowl game today, but since none of them like sports, it won't happen. Then, a mad dash to make Mass tonight so that we can do this tomorrow with the other divorced parent with a smaller but still crazy crowd.
Welcome to the craziness that is my life.
The two dds ran ahead of me, so I was a little further back my the time I reached the door. But, I thought I heard her voice inside, but I didn't say anything. My older dd then asked if I heard her? So, I guess there is a chance that the two of us just heard the wind howling and thought it was her. At least I taught my dds the effort of Christmas?
More shopping craziness. Now I'm worried that I don't have enough hooch to make the weekend.

I can understand your frustration w\ the in-laws. Your logic is solid too. I suspect that it makes your wife feel better or at least eases unnecessary feelings of guilt. In the words of Beverly D' Angelo in Christmas vacation, "I don't know what to say, except it's Christmas and we're all in misery."
