DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
I agree, total crap. Now you can go in January and feel guilt free. Not that you suffered any guilt before.

Not much guilt on the other DDCC trips, this is true. Next year will be a last minute thing if I do go. The mix of a new(er) job and the cruise in November is making it look really doubtful. Never know though.

She has the makings of an Official Unofficial DISDad! :D

Wait till you see her throw back a few beers and pretzels on the cruise. She'd put more than half of this crew to shame. :thumbsup2

:sad2:
Was gonn'a plead the fifth on that one, but it's a fair question, so...

Seems he's gonn'a end up two classes short (longish story), so we won't be headed up for the graduation proceedings on the 12th as planned. Now, one of these classes he can deal with this summer on-line.

You may all now begin insulting me for being a failure as a parent...

That's a rough one, hopefully it all works out for the best. Maybe some additional opportunities or a job for him to work on since he's part time to help offset some of those added expenses?

Well, I had grits on vacation. So that's a thing I won't be doing again.

When do they ever? I can't even get a frickin' garden design through the household overlord...

I'll take the grits off your hands ::drool::

More for me, then...
Y'all can have my share of the scallops and brussel sprouts in the world.

Oooh, and I'll take your scallops!!

Maybe some additional opportunities or a job for him to work on since he's part time to help offset some of those added expenses?
An integral part of the plan.

Oooh, and I'll take your scallops!!
And you may have them...
Just keep your mits away from the calamari, and crayfish or you may be drawing back a bloody nub ;)

Really nice day here so later I will be out on the patio.
May be doin the same when I get home tonight. I see a Makers Manhattan in my future

That will have to be on campus next semester, so now we're looking at a December graduation.
Which also means, more tuition and expenses. Upside: at only one class, the total outlay to the university for the fall semester will be a considerable bit less. Down side: it won't be zero, and you can't rent an apartment (or even a dog house) for less than a full year. Additionally, as a "part-time" student, the loans in his name immediately come due. Now we were expecting that, but not on top of the additional tuition, rent and expenses.
All good, 5 years is becoming the average these days as they accept kids into a program that requires 6 semesters for degree after 2nd year. DS will be a 5 year plan guy so he now is gonna add a minor to his resume as long as he is there another year. Good parenting that he is working at it as I have seen too many head off, waste tuition money only to make the call that school ain't for them.
You haven't met my girls yet. :drinking1:drinking1
:rotfl2: Classic!

the rain has stopped but my garden is filled with piled up decking, cement bags and an unconstructed shed. Not the vista I was looking for. All fancy tonight though, with half a bottle of Pinot Noir.
Just keep your mits away from the calamari
I hear that....

Awesome outcome. Nicely done by your daughter!
!

Thanks.

That's awesome. Nice to know the good guys win once in a while.

Thanks.

Is there any other kind?

Yes, the conference call where the co-worker forgets to mute the phone and then talks about how boring the conference call is on their cell phone. :scared1:

You know what they say, "Cheetahs never prosper." Congrats to DD.

Well, they prospered last year. This is why it was so sweet this year.

No insults. We aren't allowed to beat our kids anymore. Who's paying?

Well, I had grits on vacation. So that's a thing I won't be doing again.
...

Grits are terrific. You must have some bad ones. DW makes a great batch of grits.

Yup, that what it took my youngest to finish her 4 year collage career. But she did learn to drink like a sailor...

College. Going to a bar with a $40,000 cover charge.

Obviously.

On a slightly different note, just booked my flights for a stag do for my nephew. In Latvia. Oh my days, that will be very messy. The flights were only £80, so thats a cheeky bonus...

I hear Latvians girls are easy. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Well...
We were already on the five year plan.
Now it's 5.5 (for want of two classes... unrelated to his major... but I grumble...)

On the up side...
He still doesn't really care that much for alcohol so at least I ain't funding that kind'a foolishness.

That one rolls up under the heading of: Whoops!

We aren't allowed to beat our kids anymore.
He got one or two good thumpin's when he was a whole lot younger, but once they hit their teens, that particular verity of persuasion just don't work any more.

That'll be me...

I'll be looking for him to start adding some back to the pot now that we won't be full time, but we agreed that we'd take on the bulk of the debt

A) because we could (and that wasn't true for me).

and
B) it's going to be hard enough to make a go at his chosen vocation while still trying to put bucks away into IRAs and such. Student loans would wreck any possibility of savings, and honestly that would likely lead to a far worse outcome.

Interesting...
Some particular draw over on that side of the Baltic that we should know about?
(not that I could get there for 80 quid, but still...)

I think beer is about a nicker a knock and the strip club cover charge is about a fiver. I'm catching up with his brother on the weekend, so I'll ask him. I just pay my money and go where I'm told.

We are doing curling though, so Darcy's gonna get hammered on the PM's for tips and tricks, as our resident broom and stone champion.

Actually a really good day for me. Finally got around to cleaning and organizing the laundry room. Mission accomplished, I went in the back yard, kicked my feet up and opened a book. Dined al fresco (a salad) and poured a Bourbon and Ginger. Came in to get ready to watch Survivor. One of the better days I've had in a while.

You don't show up and the kid is going to be ticked.

Man, I wish I was on that cruise.

May be doin the same when I get home tonight. I see a Makers Manhattan in my future

Hope you were able to get out there. I enjoyed it.

I hear Latvians girls are easy. :goodvibes:goodvibes

And they can bench press 250.

And they have hairy arms and legs. So I've heard.

beer is about a nicker a knock

Explanation needed.

So unofficially, DW's job interview went extremely well, the principal has called her and basically told her the job is hers, just waiting to hear from HR now...

Looking forward to having summers off together and her having less stress, could be some more fun for the two of us.

DS has two job offers in hand for the summer, both in Myrtle Beach, so it was a good job news day for our family.

I thought you were doing the Russian order brides. I'll try the Latvians. :lmao:

Close enough. Sold! :lmao:

I'm struggling with this one big time. I have money put back in their college funds, although probably not enough. I refuse to do any parent loans though. I paid for my school, and with enough academics, work, scholarships, military, etc, then they can do the same. I paid DW's college loans, while her parents paid for her brother's cars and house. Both of my girls put little effort into their education, and I'm not willing to pay that $40,000 cover charge to party for four years. DW of course thinks I am a horrible person for even thinking this, and I know a fight is brewing in a couple of years.

Haven't been to a strip club in years. Sounds fun. Next time Dan, we can tell the wives we are going to the library at 9 PM and head there.

Dining al fresco? Hope you kept the blinds shut. :lmao:
