DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Remember that high water sculpture I posted a couple pages back, well this is today.

Hello gents, well it's been a busy time for me again, both at work and at home. Youngest DD had her second of four dance competitions this past weekend. DW made it for part of it, but I didn't get to see it. I was preoccupied with oldest DDs high school graduation weekend (in most other places you would call it Prom, here we call it Grad). Leading up to this, myself and a group of parents have been busy preparing for "Safe Grad", which is a drug & alcohol free night at the school, after the formal prom. Our group took one of the classrooms and transformed it into a room based on the TV show Survivor (I think @pkondz watches that show, not sure if anyone else). It was a lot of work over the last few months making all the props and decoration. Then Thursday we packed it all up from our storage warehouse/workshop and moved it into the school gym. Friday was the big decorating day - removing all the desks, decorating the classroom walls, putting out all our props and games. Saturday was the big day and my memory up to the evening was just a barrage of curling irons, make-up utensils, and camera clicks. But I was very proud of my step-daughter on her graduation day so I guess it was all worth it. The night at Safe Grad went off well, we had over 100 kids come in and play our Survivor games. I left the school at 4:30am It's been many years since I stayed up that late, especially without alcohol involved. Anyway, I thought I would share a few pictures of it all.

Well, as with many threads I follow or am on, the DIS has decided to stop notifying me when there are posts. I've been reading some on the bus back & forth to work, but it's harder to post on my phone, so don't post here as often. (I can hear the collective sigh of relief). Just finally wrapped up the last day of my TR.

That is a cool job decorating! I like survivor also. They have many of the seasons on Amazon prime and I went on a binge for a while. I've actually debated about going on survivor a few times...I am a pretty good outdoorsman (camping, hunting, etc.) and I am very competitive, so I'd really enjoy the games. The part that would get me is the deception and lying (what they call the "social" game). My kids know I'm a man of my word and I won't lie to them and frankly, I'm not good at lying since I don't do it.

Anyhoo, DD looks beautiful and y'all did a great job on the decorations. Great idea to give the kids a safe alternative!

Thoughts are with you and those this is impacting

Hope everyone's good.

Things are good here.

This one KY has Disney beat. One distillery tour on the bourbon trail here would be better than these.

I agree, thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Maker's Mark.

The Boys won both of their matches today and should be well set for 1st in the pool.

Good for them. Good luck going forward.

Holy crap. That doesn't look good.

Drop by anytime, there are at least a few posts a day. I have to get back to your TR. Hope things are well.

Happy Sunday. Finished a long day at work and ready to relax. Tequila was good.

Planning on seeing it next weekend. Couldn't find anything open during a time slot I wanted this weekend.

::yes:: Was it Scott who had that DDC Maker's Mark Bottle Ambassador program? KY DDCC in a few more years.

Morning All,

Another rainy Monday up here and unfortunately that isn't good given the current river level. There is good news though and that's the water level isn't suppose to get higher but it isn't really going to go down much for most of the week according to the people who know. All the government offices in the downtown area stayed closed today so they help with the traffic congestion. There are about 40 roads closed in the area right now and that makes the options to get to the two bridges that cross the river rather difficult. We are not affected by it at home but I certainly feel for the people who are dealing with basements full of water.

DS and his team lost in the semi-finals of their volleyball tournament and DW made it back from the school trip with all the kids, so that's good. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Have a good one all.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Let's get through another one unscathed - 9 more weeks until family all gets together at DaWorld. Have good one guys.

Well, Monday was short. Youngest dd found some old chapstix from who knows when in the bottom of a drawer, applied it to her lips, and had an allergic reaction. She had permanent selfie duck lips. :lmao: Benadryl, Claritin, ibuprofen, and Vaseline have been her friend.

Only 4 more weeks for me. C'mon June.

Hey Guys!

36 days until I'm back at the World, not that I'm counting or anything.

Looks like DS will be staying in his college town for the Summer, but we will be going down to see him in a couple of weeks anyway. Good thing about college town being a beach town, it's not a bad visit.

DW had a job interview yesterday, she felt really good about it. It would be a lot less stress, so would make my life easier :)

Ugh, that's not good. Hopefully it's starting to clear up for her!

Speed these countdown clocks up I say, need an infinity stone or something. Best of luck that things work out for DW on the job front.
