DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Top O the Mornin Dads! Still b4 11:00 my time.
Congrats to ds. It's official as you now have pictures. Soon, you will have an empty house and can celebrate. Just no naked room pictures. :scared1:
Thanks Norm, and don't worry about any naked stuff - world ain't ready for that
Here at the Poly. Norma Jean (yes, it is true) checked me in. She was great. Efficient, personable and she moved my room to Tokelau per my request because it is closer to the Great Ceremonial House. A few pics...

All in all a good day. Checked out of the HI, got a room in the building I wanted and we moved in around 11:00. Like the layout and location is prime. Had lunch, made it to Publix for some supplies, did a weeks worth of laundry from all the traveling, spent some time at the pool and the pool bar, and ended up at one of my favorite watering holes. I say I won today.
Poly looks nice with the refurb stuff, keep the pics coming and again, enjoy your time there
Congratulations to DS!
Woohoo!! Congrats to the youngin! Proud factor is cranked up there!
Thanks gentlemen, appreciate it.

Monday again! We really need someone to find a way to stop these things. Welcome to the new guys, prayers where needed and hopefully those in Disney are having a great time, except CJ of course. I hope he has a little rain cloud that follows him around like Olaf's snow storm.:rotfl2::lmao:

Afternoon all. Played tennis this AM and then a lesson for my younger dd. She seems to be doing well thus far. I'm hoping that between paid lessons and my substandard coaching, she'll be ready for a tournament in August.

Yeah, we know it all in the grand plan for the D1 scholarship and a free education. Kentucky residents do go to college for things other than basketball, right?:confused3

Splitting one dole whip into 818 portions as we speak. Hopefully it'll be OK on the journey from London.

Ha, I like this guy already. Hey Norm, let us know when you get the 818 little puddles.:lmao::lmao: I'll expect mine shipped directly to me in ice pack, please.:goodvibes

Breakfast at Kona this morning. Sad to say the quality was a bit off today. Potatoes were barely warm and the ham was dry from overcooking. The kid is at the pool and I will join her in a bit. Tonight I think we are going to say hi to Trader Sam. Good news from today is I snagged dinner for us at Cali Grill for tomorrow night. The kid is happy.

Top O the Mornin Dads! under 2 weeks and was still planning / booking dining & FP+ yesterday

Great plans. Haven't tried the Boathouse yet so I am interested in your thoughts.

DS graduation with honors this past Friday Night. Pretty proud of the young man he is becoming.

Big Congrats to him. And you and mom.

We have a 15 and half hour flight from Sydney to Dallas Fort Worth one of the longest non stop flights there is.

I think I would go insane flying for 15 hours. My daughter flew to Indonesia last summer and it was about 30 hours travel time to get to Raj Ampat. A girl about her age and interests was there at the same time and was from Australian. It is now on her bucket list of places to visit.

A bed pulls down like a Murphy bed

The back has a painting of Lilo and Stitch sleeping on a hammock.

A nice refreshing glass of water, right?

Yes it was. Potato water.

Good to see the Life of CJ is back on track.

And it feels good.

Oh yeah... you WON all right!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
Hope your back feels better!

Back is much better since I'm not lugging around boxes full of crap.

I agree. "Winning" :) Very jealous. Enjoy your time! Kicking back and relaxing at the resorts/bars are some of my favorite things.

Thanks, we are. Have to, last trip until January '17.

Isn't everything? Anyone heard of / had bacon infused bourbon? Had waiter at our favorite steak place told me if I ever get the chance to have a bacon bourbon manhattan to not pass it up.

Our Steak place over here does one. Its good. Sweetens it up, and you get a cheeky bit of bacon on the top of the glass on a cocktail stick. Now that's what I call a quality garnish.

Ha, I like this guy already. Hey Norm, let us know when you get the 818 little puddles.:lmao::lmao: I'll expect mine shipped directly to me in ice pack, please.:goodvibes
As you quite rightly point out Jim, Norm is responsible for all final delivery of dole whip. I am merely the sub-contractor. All complaints for the quality of this batch or to any special delivery requests, please direct all correspondence to Airgoofy.

Never stayed at Anna Marie Island but a lot of places around there. Nice area. Good beaches, interesting food, sun and sand... Stayed at a Poly studio a couple of months ago. There was still some construction on the quiet pool area which was by the building where I was staying. Love the Poly and the new DVC rooms had a nice layout. Can't wait to see it with the construction done with.
Thanks for the feedback CJ, and your pictures of the Poly may have swung it for 2017. Looking forward to Anna Maria Island, we love that part of Florida, around Sarasota and Siesta Key.

Food never has the opportunity to get cold in my house. My dds know if they don't eat it, then I likely will.
Train them early I say.............. ::yes::

That is interesting.
I was wondering if they'd be dried out if they slept too late.

That was my first thought when I saw your warming method! :scratchin

Then I realized.... I didn't care.
Sleep in (while I'm working out in the heat) and suffer the consequences!
The early bird...........gets the hot pancakes!!! :woohoo:
(Besides, I don't like worms......well, not to eat anyway)

DS graduation with honors this past Friday Night. Pretty proud of the young man he is becoming. Hope all had / are having a good weekend

And you should be! :cool1: Congrats to you both!!! :goodvibes

Here at the Poly. Norma Jean (yes, it is true) checked me in. She was great. Efficient, personable and she moved my room to Tokelau per my request because it is closer to the Great Ceremonial House. A few pics...

Nice room, the cabinet thing is a single bed that pulls down so the room sleeps five.
Split bathrooms, john and the tub in one, a shower and another sink in another
An awful lot like the DVC rooms! :-) Hopefully you aren't having the same issue with the shower draining that we did. :sad2:

Welcome to the new guys! Good to see more international representation here.
I second that! :welcome: :drinking1

Sorry to hear about a bad meal at Kona! Love that place and luckily haven't ever had a disappointment there. :) Nice get on the Cali Grill ADR! It's a wonderful place, and if you get the chance look for Clinta at the bar and tell him he comes highly recommended!

Good evening everyone. On campus this week, so a daily 144 mile round trip commute. Played tennis tonite and next 4 nights. Thursday looks scary enough as I may not be able to roll out of bed tomorrow. Time to do a rain dance.

Yes, the sound of the engines, smell of the exhaust. I used to go to the races with my neighbor when I lived in Louisville.

Cool! That reminds me of a conversation I had with DD the other day. Not sure what brought it about, but she turns to me and says:
DD: "Dad, I'm really sad that Disney World tore down the speedway".
Me: "Why do you say that?"
DD: "Cause I REALLY wanted to drive fast there."
Me: "Me, too. Me, too"
:lmao:
!

I didn't get to drive the car, but that would have been fun. I missed the opportunity at Disney World.

Yeah, we know it all in the grand plan for the D1 scholarship and a free education. Kentucky residents do go to college for things other than basketball, right?:confused3
Ha, I like this guy already. Hey Norm, let us know when you get the 818 little puddles.:lmao::lmao: I'll expect mine shipped directly to me in ice pack, please.:goodvibes

Yeah, we still have to follow those Title 9 laws down here. :lmao:

I'll gladly ship you those 818 little puddles in exchange for 818 lobsters.

As you quite rightly point out Jim, Norm is responsible for all final delivery of dole whip. I am merely the sub-contractor. All complaints for the quality of this batch or to any special delivery requests, please direct all correspondence to Airgoofy.

All I know is that there will be a lot of disappointed DisDads that will only receive 1/818 of a dole whip, especially after they mailed in their dues.

Train them early I say.............. ::yes::

Sadly, I don't need to eat the extra food as I'm already fat enough. It's even worse at the restaurant, as I just can't let food get thrown away. I PAID FOR IT. As for leftovers, sometimes they make it home. Often, they get eaten in the car. :sad1:

Grant finished and submitted up the line. Assuming I got all the numbers correct, my part is done other than an electronic signature from me and my co-PI who contributed nothing other than saying "Good idea". :headache: I'm too old for these long days and late nights. I'd even give up the future non-existent raise for less responsibility.

Morning all...
Still trying to get back into my regular routines 'round here.
Just about healed up enough to no longer have excuses
(which is both a good and a bad thing, depending)

My daughter flew to Indonesia last summer and it was about 30 hours travel time to get to Raj Ampat. A girl about her age and interests was there at the same time and was from Australian. It is now on her bucket list of places to visit.
Given her drive and level for adventure, I've no doubt that will happen and likely rather soon on the time line.

Yes it was. Potato water.
Partial to aged sugarcane water myself, but the potato stuff does have its excellent uses.

It comes in a commemorative thimble. No refills.
Now, now...
Lets not be giving the Disney accountants any rash ideas here!

Oh, and welcome sir!
We're glad to have you here.

Similar circumstances here. Yeah, I don't need the extra intake, but no leftover ever hits the scullery.
It's paid for and that'd be wasteful, so we're big fans of the to-go box.
Besides, whatever isn't chopped up and reused in a soup or hash or such, generally makes for a decent lunch the next day.

I'd even give up the future non-existent raise for less responsibility.
The end of a verrrry long day.
Luckily tomorrow will be much longer.
Is this National Opposite Day and I just forgot to mark my calendar?

Miss a little, miss a lot!
I hope everyone is excited to have a good day.

I need to be better about making time to visit this clubhouse.
I mean, I haven't insulted or been insulted by freezinRafiki in so long, I'm not sure I remember whose turn it is.

But, so long as everyone is gearing up for summer best they can, it should be a good week.

Happy Vacation to those taking them, and, may the sports team from your area play well, unless they play against the sports team from my area.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Have I mentioned how checked out I am this week? DW family coming in this weekend to celebrate MIL 80th. Nephew and his fiance are staying at our house instead of at IL's with his mom & dad which apparently MIL is not happy about. Well duh! Stay at fun aunt & uncle's house who don't care what time they may get in, have good beer, a bedroom with a queen bed and own bathroom have plenty of room and good food. Or, sleep on a 20+ year old sofa bed & share bathroom with his parents, where some folks complain about everything, go to bed at 7:00 p.m., watch old t.v. reruns, and have to put up with his pompous dad (my BIL). Hmmmmmmmmmmm........

Figured many of you can relate and would get a chuckle out of this, Family :-)

Good to see you getting back to normal and bringing your wit back to our little club
May the sports team from your area play well, unless they play against the sports team from my area.
Seriously, your area huh, "your kill'n me smalls"

Morning gents. Back to the grind later today with a trainee attached to my waist for the next 20 weeks. Going to try to get more work done on the deck first. Pancakes are in the oven when everyone else wakes up.
So is a trainee more work for you or less work and more headache?

Chilling out before I take her to Springs so I downloaded some pics. A few more from Seton Hall...

A graduation present from dad, her first lab coat
Congratulations to the Pirate Princess! Time sure does fly.

DS graduation with honors this past Friday Night. Pretty proud of the young man he is becoming. Hope all had / are having a good weekend
Congratulations!

Well, not much of a pit crew. MIL's boyfriend needed someone to help with new race car so I helped him as much as possible.
If you didn't do much, what is your job? Drink the beer and wash the windshield?

Good morning all. Doing challenge matches this week on tennis team to determine who should play what for position in team tournament (#1 singles, #1 doubles, etc). So, I ended up drawing and had to play singles against my doubles partner from last year's championship. We played 2 sets, lasting over 2 hours. I won, but am feeling it today. And, I have another challenge match again tonite. I'm too old for this ....

Grant finished and submitted up the line. Assuming I got all the numbers correct, my part is done other than an electronic signature from me and my co-PI who contributed nothing other than saying "Good idea". :headache: I'm too old for these long days and late nights. Sounds about like usual. Collaborators who do nothing and jump in for the credit.

Morning all...

?

Glad to hear you've recovered. Now, just don't get hurt again.

I need to be better about making time to visit this clubhouse.

Never let work keep you from posting. :lmao:

The all important family that we must be together with. The ones who are so important we avoid intentionally most of the remainder of the year. Have fun.

If you didn't do much, what is your job? Drink the beer and wash the windshield?

Well, this isn't Nascar. We had a two man crew - driver & me. I took the tire temperatures, relayed info, and made wedge adjustments. I also helped load the car back on the trailer.

Now, now...
Lets not be giving the Disney accountants any rash ideas here!

Oh, and welcome sir!
We're glad to have you here.

Thank you sir. Glad to be here. I think the disney accountant would have charged you for the thimble, or bundled it to a DVC contract
