DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Randall wished we had a GIF in Facebook but they don't work for cover photos. How about here in the thread?

Yes, it was hot in June. My original plan was to snowbird, but DW thought we should just live there. After that last June trip, I think the new plan is to live in Florida October to May, and find somewhere else June, July, August, and September. Now, just to figure out where to live June thru Sept.

The heart of Appalachia. We have so much to offer here.:rolleyes1

Monday morning blues. A lot of chauffeuring duties this week.

Ummm, No. I'm hoping to escape the great armpit of KY. The beach brings a cooler ocean breeze. Ultimately, I'm sure where the dds settle will decide the housing location. If they both pick KY, then I'm screwed. But, maybe they will settle closer to Louisville or Lexington, which would be a slight upgrade.

'Morning all...
Even though it's Monday, I'm glad that yesterday is over. yuck...

Work is going to be interfering for a few days, but I'll try to drop by once in a while.
Y'all take care.

Congrats to the mid-west folks for putting together the first DDCP. Y'all done good.
Darcy, wins the day though for the GIF, but...
Y'all still done good.

Yeah...
That's pretty much the way I remember it from way back when.
Wouldn't mind moving back, but other things would have to happen first.

Got together with friends, busted out the instruments and made copious amounts of noise, ate entirely too much at the ensuing backyard barbecue, complacently ignored the yard work and avoided the 100 degree heat...
It's been a good day.

Sounds like excellent use of a Saturday there.

The first DDCP - DisDad Club Picnic - at Huber Farms in Indiana.

Nice meet up guys!

I thought about calling it the Hillbilly meet n greet, but DDCP sounds better.

I like Hillbilly title better.

Just wanted to let you know I won $4 in last night's lottery.

:dancer::dancer:

DDC4 here we come! :woohoo:

Morning guys,

Big day today in space. After 3,462 days, New Horizons spacecraft made the closest approach to Pluto (the planet, not the dog). The pictures as it approached were cool and can't wait to see the latest snapshot when it is released later tonight. What can I say, I am a space geek.

Morning CJ and all.

I haven't looked at the pictures yet but I am seeing a lot of buzz on twitter.

It's a good day for space geeks.
Looking forward to the close in and trailing pictures.
Have they chosen which KBO they're going to aim the probe for for after this yet?

Over 4 billion miles away, now that is a road trip. DAD ARE WE THERE YET? I NEED TO GO TO THE BATHROOM! I thought driving to Disney was long.

I heard something about it but can't remember what they decided.

Don't make me turn this spaceship around!

Don't make me come back there! I'll knock you back to Mars!

Alright, CJ, I'm gonna have to stop you right there and call BS. You're 4 hours from Disney. 4 HOURS. I'm 22 hours on a good day. If I was 4 HOURS from Disney, there's a better than average chance that I have a standing Ohana reservation for every Saturday night.

I did many similar drives when I was a kid. My mom gave a smart ultimatum to my dad when I was 15, move to Florida or I will slowly and painfully kill you. We lived in Syracuse at the time. Can't help it if your family decided to stay in the frozen tundra.

Saw those pics too.
Pictures tonight? I thought we wouldn't see any until tomorrow.

Do they have any ability of steerage at all?
I'm surprised that they'd still have any fuel for much vectoring at all.

::yes::

30 hours for me... assuming no stops for bathroom breaks, gas, food or sleep.

I do enjoy the summers here - I can walk outside free from the fear that the only thing that would keep from from spontaneously combusting in the Florida heat is the 100% humidity in the air.

Empty bottles, plenty of packed snacks, and a unholy combination of coffee, Red Bull, and Mountain Dew take care of bathroom, food and sleep. I'm still trying to figure out if a ground based version of midair refueling involving a semi truck full of gasoline doing 75 mph on the Interstate running a hose into the tank of a car running at the same speed is legal. It probably is in Kentucky.

Hmmm.... Might have to look into this.
Might be cost prohibitive unless we can hook up and split the costs.
If you can do it in the middle of the atmosphere, surely you can do it on a nice stable road?

It probably is in Kentucky.

Happy Tuesday. Busy week with soccer tryouts, basketball camp, and swim practices - well, busy for my chauffeuring duties.

It is terrific investment. Hopefully, we won't find a population living there as we would have to give them more taxpayer money.

Then move. Better yet, take me with you.

It's legal. The only thing against the law here is regular dental check-ups.
