Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

‘Did not know that. Wonder why that is. They sell both of ‘em here, and yah, they’re pretty similar. Neither is particularly good, but they are certainly similar.

Too much a chew for this sore mouth. What we need though is the 100 Grand up here, and Cherry Coke.

Ahhh… then you should have seen you first “South of the Boarder” billboard by now.
There certainly ain’t much else to look at on that section of the road.

You never sausage a place! You're always a weiner at Pedro's.

And a gif to get you through the day…

Hello, my name is Brian and I...

That seems too much like an AA meeting in a movie, let me do this differently.

I absolutely love Disney. I always liked going to Disneyland, but since I had kids, it has become far more fun! We make it to Disneyland about once a week, and we have scheduled our first Disney World trip for this June. This trip brought me to the DIS boards where I eventually stumbled into this corner of the DIS boards. After a couple of weeks hanging out in some of the games on this forum, I finally decided that I should post here just so I don't look like a lurker.

So I guess I should say a little about me. I am married and we have a two year old son, four year old daughter, and a fifteen year old (step) daughter. We live in a little town in Southern California's Inland Empire called Moreno Valley. Both me and my wife are Middle School teachers which is great because we have the same vacations as our kids have (or will have.) There is not much to say... Life is great!

So the teams from Maine don't travel to you guys?

At least Saco is a bit closer than Portland and you do get to pass right by those discount liquor stores in New Hampshire. :lmao:

Just how the schedule came together I guess. We have a lot more teams closer to us than them. We must have drawn the short straw on travel. We have a RI trip coming up and then Long Island, NY as well. I need to hit the lottery so I can hire a driver.

Driving while drinking is frowned upon.

Hey Brian. Remember, fish are friends not.....Who am I kidding. Of course fish are food. Welcome to the club!

Well we tried anyways. Maybe if I cut out the cottage, it could work, but I really need an "away from civilization" type vacation. Was going to be time away with Dad, I want to honour that. Besides, she would be PEEVED if she wasnèt kidnapped too....:rotfl2:

That was our Dominican trip in February. Pretty much eliminated any telephone, text or email. Was nice to disappear for a week.

On the road to WDW as of 0131 hours.

Have fun storming the castle! Feedback on the FP+ would be appreciated. Getting closer and closer to our booking time.

Have a safe and fun trip!

Hey Philip! Are you in Disney the weekend of the 3rd-5th? Can't remember and too lazy to go look. We fly in on the 3rd in the evening. Just DD and I. Would like to say hi while we are there at some point if you have a few minutes.

We'll be there just a couple of weeks after you for OUR Non-Disney, Orlando vacation but not having park passes doesn't mean that we won't be going on Disney property. There is so much to do around the resorts and DTD that we have a blast even without the parks. That includes making ADRs somewhere on property, we just haven't figured out where we want to go yet.

I call SHENANIGANS! Two Disdads in the same month and neither going to Disney?:confused: Either I am having a nightmare or the world is ending.

Maybe I'll plant some hidden items throughout Orlando and see if you can find them :lmao:
DW has nixed the idea of visiting anything Disney this trip. I think this is a test to see if I'll break :guilty:

You know it's easy to get lost while running out to pick something up at the store. I think 6 hours lost in MK should suffice.

What day is it? I lost track.

I don't know where the time is going and it's about to hit the fan with work. Someone let me know when June is over. :faint:

Umm... That does not sound like fun. You do know we just started May right?:confused3 Sorry things are so crazy. Prayers that when it hit's the fan you don't get any on you.

Ahhh… then you should have seen you first “South of the Boarder” billboard by now.

About seven-ish hours to the Florida line from there (depending on the warp drive capabilities of the vehicle of course).
Stay safe.

Ah, the joys of those signs on the way home, kept DW and Amelia in stitches. Alas, next trip is 77 up and down, we love that route.

Is it 2015 yet?

.

Well we will have phone service, still in Canada, just might be spotty. Shouldn't really say no civilization, it's there, but not in the forefront.

I intend to post on FB lots. |You see, last year my posts on FB slowed right down a few days into Disney due to some family members whining about having to see people having fun while they were going through a rough stretch, which they were, I felt a bit guilty, although I was assured it was not aimed at us afterwards. But the way they've acted since, you know what? Screw'em. They can choke on it. Also DW needs to be reached, as her boss tends to be quite disorganized, and might need the location of a file, and I need to co-ordinate meeting up with friends while there, and for little things like weather, news etc (no tv reception, but we bring a dvd player if it gets rainy.

Wow... that's a long rehab time. Praying for a good outcome!

That's my plans for every day. 6 weeks on the couch. :lmao: Continued prayers for your dd.

I hope it all goes well today.

My but that’s going to be a whole lot of not much fun. Prayers for the surgeon, that their best work is done today.
Having been through it before, I’m sure your DD will do fine with the rehab.
It won’t be easy but she already knows that.

Go 'hawks! Hope things go well today.
GO HAWKS!
Good luck and prayers to DD on the surgery.

The biggest struggle (from my experience) will be to get the muscle tone back after not putting weight on it for 6 weeks. I am 28 months from surgery and 20 months from not being able to put weight on my knee for 8 weeks and you can still see the difference in the muscle tone (of course I'm old so I'm sure it will be quicker for DD). Will she be allowed to bend the knee, stretch the muscles without weight bearing? I was not allowed to even bend my knee for 6 weeks.:worried: Hope it goes well and DD heals quickly.
She starts PT today and for now the brace reamins locked with no bending put PT plan is to include stretching and some bending between now and the 6 wk mark / weight bearing mark.
I hope that everything goes well with her surgery and recovery..

Good luck and God bless to all involved.

Extra prayers and thoughts to her, hoping for a speedy recovery, and she gets some summer out of it.

Hope the rehab goes as smoothly as possible

Thank you all very much for the positive thoughts & prayers. Per the surgeon, "could not have gone any better and that she did great" to which I thought at what tearing up her knee multiple times ;) She had two nerve blocks on the knee / leg when we brought her home which have now worn off and pain is pretty high despite us starting her on the pain meds yesterday. Here is her bionic leg along with a video clip that explains with a model (non gross) what the operation was. Thanks again guys for all the good vibes and support

Shameless post padding but I haven't been on enough and it doesn't look like I will be on much in the near future either. We went straight into summer. New record high yesterday which sure beats record lows. Unfortunately, it means a very compressed spring growing season. I may get one more asparagus harvest and strawberries should start in about 10 days for me though some of my growers stated picking yesterday.

You never sausage a place! You're always a weiner at Pedro's.

Keep screaming, kids! They'll stop!

Pedro's forecast: Chili today, hot tamale!

We actually stayed there a couple of years ago. Driving back to NY, DD and I decided what the heck. Called them while on the road and they asked do we want the $35 room or the deluxe $45 one? We splurged and all I can say was what a dump. The room was clean but old, the shops were empty of stock and most of the attractions were closed down. We did not dare eat there. Such a letdown after all the years driving from Florida when I was a kid and my father refused to stop there.

Poor kid but I am glad the surgery went well. Just thinking about it, my right knee is having sympathy pain.

Posting pictures about your vacation sounds fine. If others have problems with it, then they don't have to view your posts.

Cool bionic leg pictures. Glad she made it through. Continued prayers in her recovery.

I have enough shotgun shells to resist for awhile. Unless there is beer, the assimilate me.

Neither is particularly good, but they are certainly similar.

Don't comprehend this. Baby Ruth not good? Blasphemy.

I don't understand this thing called non-Disney vacation.

The 100 Grand bar is good.

Getting there....Baby Ruth doesn't exist in Canada, although the Oh Henry looks suspiciously like it :rotfl2:

The deprivation.

Right now I am thinking about what a Dole Whip would look like after a week in transit... That would be smelly!
Thank you for the welcome!

You'll have to package close to 800 of them. Get a bunch of dry ice. :lmao:

A bit behind but trying to catch up here. For anything I may have missed. all the best, congrats, cheers, prayers, welcome and bacon with a glass of Kentucky Bourbon Ale!

Morning Guys,

Welcome the May 5th!

Declan's basketball team won their last game in the tournament yesterday and he was named player of the game. He played well all weekend, pretty proud of him and how much he has improved this winter.
Congrats to the Declan and the proud Dad - which you should be :thumbsup2
Emma "won" her game on Saturday. Have to quote it since we are playing rec league and there is no official scorekeeping. But they managed to squeak in 2 goals and held the other team to zero goals. Emma played goalie first half and really didn't get to do much. We've been working on field positioning and passing a lot in the last few weeks at practice and it was seen in the game. Almost looked like they were corralling the other team into little herds around the field :rotfl2: I was a proud coach that afternoon.
Another congrats to the kiddo and proud Dad :thumbsup2

Welcome to our clam bake
Toothache turned to a full blown abcess. On antibiotics to get the swelling down. I feel I look like Sloth from Goonies :rotfl2: At least some of the pain is gone. It just never ends around here. :rotfl2:
Sorry about the tooth - do kinda like the Sloth / Goonies reference :lmao:
On the road to WDW as of 0131 hours.
Safe travels and enjoy
Morning Guys, another Tuesday means I am one day closer to cruising to Bermuda.
Safe travels and enjoy - hit Senior Frogs and have the fresh made guac dip if you can

Arrived at the hotel at 1935 hours..So we did 1225 miles in 18 hours and 4 minutes with three gas stops. Yes I am an engineer. Only traffic issues on the south end of the eastern spur of Jacksonville beltway..

Hey Fed..good dope on 295. Only issue is wife hates big bridges and she was driving that leg.
