Rock Hill? Really? Well then that would be me… We live just a couple exits north of there.
About what time do you think you’ll be getting in and what kind of dinner did you have in mind?
I suspect that your hotel is on Dave Lyle Blvd .

Why so surprised, the area is really nice and seems like a safe neighborhood. We actually ended up ordering in last year, the hotel recommended a local pizza place, we had pizza and wings and it was quite good.

That list is awesome!! Thanks!

We are hopefully pulling in to town around 6-7 depending on traffic and breaks.

We stayed at the Hampton last year and are staying there again. Your right, it's off Dave Lyle Blvd.

We were hoping to find something that is a local joint with good homemade cooking not necessarily a chain. Hopefully not too far from where we are staying. Maybe some tasty BBQ!
I will have to go through your suggestions with DW, because even though I'm driving... She has final veto power. Lol

Your welcome and I understand the need for approval from the supervisory committee. Rock Hill is a nice town. We certainly like the area. It’s just that more often than not, folks travel either via I-75 or I-95 and don’t usually roll through here (thus, my surprise).

Most of the places I listed specifically are local joints, but unfortunately, there are far more chains in the area then locals.

There is a good bit of barbeque in the general area, but unfortunately none that is handy to the Hampton Inn. If you go back up one exit to Cherry Road and then head west two or three miles there is place that’s half biker bar and half Que-joint called: “The Kickin’ Pig”. I’ve not tried that one yet so I can’t speak for the quality. There is another one back up another exit in a shopping center off of Celenese Rd called; “Bat’s BBQ” that rates fairly well but I’ve not tried that one either.

Good afternoon / Start of the weekend! Should be a good weekend.

DD is home from college for 5 days for fall break and DW is pumped to have her girl back in the house for a bit. Mom has been doing good with the change and adapting to "her guys" by putting up with us and watching some of what we watch on TV, cooking what we like, etc. We have also made sure to include her a bit more than in the past since her pal DD is away.

Should be a good weekend for sports, especially Saturday night with ND and USC, Clemson & FL State and the Blackhawks & Leafs - gotta luv when 2 of the original 6 play.

Have a great weekend with the kids and for those traveling any be safe.

What a long week first back from vacation. I'm ready to go back and use my evil twins' tickets from MDE. Or, park it CJ's driveway. :lmao:

It is a co-worker issue, and not surprisingly, the problem is only with the female co-workers. Oh, well. I just have to remember that it is around 170 days to the next WDW vacation and 9 more years for retirement. Ok, maybe I should just stay with the 170 days part.

I'm drinking bourbon tonight. Neat. Make it a double. No, just leave the bottle.

OK, I know I haven't been around much the past couple years for various reasons. However, I now have a couple things to post that I never thought I would have the opportunity to do.
First, I'm retiring on January 2nd! :cool1:
Secondly, we actually have a short trip to WDW planned with our daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandkids for the first week of March! :cool1:
Due to my DW's problems with neuropathy, and the cold/damp weather of PA triggering a lot of discomfort, we're heading to Perdido Key, FL, for 3 months beginning January 1. (My last work day is really Dec. 20th.) Our daughter's in-laws are springing for a trip for them to the World the first week of March and we are planning to join them for a couple days. It may not really happen for a couple reasons but we do actually have ressies at ASMu!
I'm beginning to look forward to retiring now that I've submitted my letter at work; a lot of weight has been lifted from my shoulders since I officially made the decision. Now, we just have to get our money invested correctly.

Congrats.

I can't wait to retire and ADD a lot of weight to my shoulders.

Congrats Mike! Best of luck in retirement!

Thanks, Guys! The weight of retirement should be a little different, I hope! I might work part-time but not right away. And, it will hopefully be something a little more enjoyable than what I'm doing now. I understand completely about the co-workers; it gets harder every year.
A nacho platter is calling me. Later!

Congrats on the retirement and 3 month trip to warmer weather. Hope you get to enjoy WDW as well.

This is fantastic news Mike!!!!:thumbsup2

Leafs better guve their heads a shake or this will be ugly. :sad2: My fondest Leafs/Blackhawks memories is back in the '94 Playoffs. Watching it from a Sports Bar with wings, friends and an incredible crowd, awesome hockey too.

Without a doubt Brent!!! Alcohol prices are exponentially lower in the US.

Depends on the products though...

Hope it is a very good retirement. You've earned it.

Thanks again for the tips! We always tend to drive this way, it much more scenic and much more enjoyable drive. We did do I75 once and found it to be quite a boring drive and we got stuck in nasty traffic in Atlanta, so we much prefer coming towards your neck of the woods.

I agree, I know when I buy beer or rum in Florida it is about half of what we pay here, I think our government has gotten completely drunk on our tax dollars for that to change any time soon.

So just got home from work and packing up the van, need to shower and maybe get a few hours sleep before we head off!!!!

So it begins..................

First drive down we went I77 down, 75 back, this trip 77 down, 95 back. All future drives we've agreed will be 77 only, by far the most scenic and pleasant drives we've had.

Have a safe drive down!

Here we go.....
