Norm - when you say resale points cannot be used for other Disney resorts....Does that mean if I buy VWL resale points, I won't be able to use those points at AKL (non-DVC part)? We are looking into it and I don't think it'd be a big deal if we couldn't use DVC points at traditional Disney resorts. Just want to go into the whole thing informed.

AKL has Jambo & Kidani. Kidani is the newer one built. All of the value AKL rooms and Club level rooms are in the Jambo House. Currently, Jambo House is still available as a booking option when you stay at AKV. Once you move into the 1 BR and above, Kidani features a 2nd bathroom. I would stay over there just for that. Conversely, the Boardwalk has an Inn side and a Villas side, and you can no longer book in the Inn side with DVC points. Maybe you could when it originally opened, but I don't go back that far. Vero Beach Resort has the booking categories of Inn Room or studio.

However, for resorts like the Contemporary, you cannot book there with DVC points. You can exchange your points for a fee, and then there is a conversion formula for using points at non DVC resorts. (Unless you buy a new resale contract, and then you can't do this.). You could use the points at Bay Lake Tower, the DVC building that connects to CR. Disney seems to be attaching DVC villas to the deluxe resorts as that is where the demand is. However, like the new GF, the DVC points are for the new construction building. There is a chance they are converting some of their existing inventory to DVC to meet florida time share laws; however, you probably aren't going to have access to rooms all over that resort unless you do the trade in, which is not a great conversion rate.

I wish that would motivate my DS. His goal is to get a job that pays enough for him and a cat to live on.

I still can't figure out how to motivate mine. I just keep telling them to invest $200 a month in a large cap mutual fund at age 20. Maybe that is one life lesson they will remember,

Was beat after getting back from Epcot last night. Now getting ready to hit DHS. Lunch at Brown Derby and then back to the room. Plan is to go to the MK tonight but we will see how the legs hold up.

I like the Brown Derby. Filet, Cobb Salad, it's all good.

Home School is closed for the year. We put together some orange baskets for the kids last night filled with orange stuff and a note saying "Orange you glad school is over?" They were and and the teacher is A couple of days and they will head north and I can finally get things back into order.

I'm at home timing mine today. My plan is to work 1/2 days this summer. (I'll burn a lot of vacation time). They'll have a plan in the morning to keep them busy - chores. Reading, math worksheets, tv/movie time. Then, I'll get home at noon and have some fun with them.

Now that should be a policy.

Just my 2 cents, but I think those prices will only hold up as long as interest rates stay low. The majority of owners finance, so it will become too expensive once rates rise. When that happens, I think you'll see the sales of new properties slow, and resale prices drop (which is why DVC proactively instituted the changes to benefits on resales contracts last year). DVC is charging as much as possible now to take advantage of those rates, imo.

Though, they may never sell all of the AKV contracts they have...

Still in heated discussions over whether we will buy into DVC. Would most likely be a resale. Have been looking around. At this point, it looks like we may wait until the kids are through (or mostly through) college. Then we'll decide where to buy. Still may make the jump earlier, but financially college seems to be where all the $$ is going. Have 5 years before DS starts and 8 for DD.

Looks like I'm taking a sick day tomorrow.
DS6 was puking tonight.

Good morning Disdads - HS graduation / 3 day weekend just around the corner

Always had a soft spot for the Hawks. They shared a AHL farm team with the Maple Leafs in my hometown back in the early 80s. Still remember the night they won the Calder Cup. Watched guys like Steve Larmer, Daryl Sutter and Steve Ludzik get their starts.

Very cool. I watched these guys back in the 80's in the original Chicago Stadium / Old Barn upper deck where you could get a beer at 19 or 20 years of age - no carding back then.

Briana is having a blast. Riding there bus system, eating at the Contempo lol.
She said she has seen the back stage of every park on a bus. She can't wait to start work. Has a list of things for us to bring down in a few weeks. Lol
She has a meeting today for a few hours then There off to the pool.
Well like I told briana, some of us have to work for a living!!! Lol have a good Wednesday.

Good stuff and congrats to a deserved proud disdad. DS wants to do this once in college and has already started looking into it as his dream is to work for Imagineering in some capacity.

Sounds like a fun week. Well, except for those work days in the middle. You may just want to skip those.

We have plans for the Mystic Aquarium on Monday. May try to do some other activities in the area as well over the weekend depending on game times and how much time we have.

Congrats again to Brianna and I’m glad to hear that she’s still happy.
Let us know if she still loves actually working day in and day out after a couple of months.
Working at Disney, will beat working at most other places, but it is still work.

Good morning everyone! It's Wednesday. Almost halfway to a 3 day weekend!!!

I like this notion so much that I just asked for Friday off to lengthen the long weekend a bit.
We’ll see if it gets approved…
