Good morning. Got home around 8:30 last night. Sat in traffic for 21/2 hours on i81 in West Virginia.
Briana is having a blast. Riding there bus system, eating at the Contempo lol.
She said she has seen the back stage of every park on a bus. She can't wait to start work. Has a list of things for us to bring down in a few weeks. Lol
She has a meeting today for a few hours then There off to the pool.
Well like I told briana, some of us have to work for a living!!! Lol have a good Wednesday.

That's what I thought. Apparently, we are using it wrong.

Just my 2 cents, but I think those prices will only hold up as long as interest rates stay low. The majority of owners finance, so it will become too expensive once rates rise. When that happens, I think you'll see the sales of new properties slow, and resale prices drop (which is why DVC proactively instituted the changes to benefits on resales contracts last year). DVC is charging as much as possible now to take advantage of those rates, imo.

Though, they may never sell all of the AKV contracts they have...

I didn't think about that. SSR stayed on sale for a long time as well, but it officially sold out. I realize that most of the DVC is financed and purchased by people in the super happy moments of their vacations, and they don't consider the long term implications. But, when I asked my guide, he said financing was 10%. Granted, I was only looking to add on a 75 point contract. I may have considered financing it at 2 or 3% and keep that chunk of money. Oh well. I wish I had just done a BLT Contract resale as well. I would have been able to buy more points. I did the add on before the price point skyrocketed, but it was still too much.

Saw something interesting today - Duck Bacon, I never had duck but I might try it

I had it at one of the restaurants at WDW one evening (I'll have to check where) and then my dds told Donald that I ate duck the following day when we went to Tusker House for breakfast.

On the DVC topic, if I buy a resale (AKL would be first choice) I won't have the same benefits as those that bought direct from Disney?

Yes. You can use your points for any of the DVC Resorts and I think RCI trade ins. You could not use your points for cruises, other Disney resorts, or world passport collections. Personally, I think DVC points are best used at the DVC resorts. There is a rumor that keeps surfacing that says Disney could change it to say that if you purchased resale, that you could only use those points at the DVC resort you purchased. I don't think that will ever happen though.

The usage restrictions were what I outlined above, unless I missed one. There are no time frame restrictions - just the current 11 mo/ 7 mo booking windows that apply to all DVC owners, regardless of how purchased.

Norm - when you say resale points cannot be used for other Disney resorts....Does that mean if I buy VWL resale points, I won't be able to use those points at AKL (non-DVC part)? We are looking into it and I don't think it'd be a big deal if we couldn't use DVC points at traditional Disney resorts. Just want to go into the whole thing informed.
