I agree with the prevailing DVC argument. We bought in knowing it wasn't a good financial investment, but it was a great investment in our vacation time. We're happy with the purchase so far.

I always laugh at the dvc threads how people fight over the word investment. "its an investment, its not an investment"
my dvc tripled in value over the last 13 years and my house is worth 20k less then it was 13 years ago.:lmao:
I think I should sell my house and buy $170,000 worth of dvc points. :lmao:

Agree with what I have read
Wish we would have done sooner
It's investment in family time/vacation time

Financially sound, I think it depends. We have been able to bring grandparents and have a 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom (Boardwalk). Additionally, as kids get older their friends start coming with them on vacation and vise-versa at least around our neck of the woods. So 1 bedroom that sleeps 5 or 2 bedroom are almost required with 2 teenage girls and DS two bathrooms becomes almost required from a privacy perspective.

I guess an argument could be made that without DVC we would just have not included grandparents or kids friends but I think for us we would have and needed to book two rooms, etc. Hope this helps some of you in looking down the road as the kids get older, ours are already talking about using DVC points for spring break trips with friends :crazy2:

Evening guys.

Got DS home from soccer and off to bed. He leaves for space camp in the morning ad we get 4 days child free.

Going back and forth between Kingdom of Heaven and the Pitt/Ottawa game. Go Pens!

Well, you and I will disagree on this one. The money I have deposited in the 2 mutual funds in my 401K has done exceptionally well. As far as my home, the neighborhood comps here indicate I would make money on my house if I sold it (13 years old). Now, you were able to buy into DVC at a much lower price point, so you may have done well. But, to see that return on investment, you have to sell your contract, and it doesn't look like you plan on doing that anytime soon. I would like to be able to guess right and sell my contract in the year before it bottoms out on the resale market do to nearing its expiration date or whatever else impacts it.

Unfortunately, I don't have the family I could take with me. As for friends, I haven't had those requests yet. I have mixed thoughts on this one - it is nice for friends to spend time together but it also nice for family to spend time together. What age were your children when they started bringing friends?

Watching Pacers Heat game. Where is the Space Camp? Sounds like fun - the being child free part.

The camp is in Laval Quebec, near Montreal. It is their grade 6 school trip and his first time away without us. I'm just glad he had a soccer practice tonight becaue he was flying.

Glad the day is winding down. All this talk of DVC has me jealous. Anyone want to adopt me?

New employee is doing well for someone young and naive. I'll just get him trained and his time will be up.

Fed the bees and added some frames. Not much honey packed away yet Norm. Too much rain. Still hoping.

DD loaned a special necklace to a friend and when she went to get it the "friend" had "lost" it. Lesson (hopefully) learned though that and several other incidents over the last week finally sent SWMBO to bed with a migraine.

I did manage to find an arrowhead out in my plots. It was about 80% intact and the nicest one I have found yet so the day wasn't a total wash out.

Cool on the arrowhead, and sorry to hear about dd. Sometimes, they just have to learn the hard way for that lesson to works. But, it breaks out hearts to see them in pain. DW found a second local person for honey, so now we have to local suppliers. But, we always run out each year so let me know if you have some.

In about 2 1/2 weeks I'm going to a more interesting Gift Auction for breast cancer, it starts off as a fishing tournament (will be working during that part:crazy2:) then it goes into a BBQ with the Budweiser Girls there followed by a Gift Auction, I don't know what the prizes are but I will be looking over many things regardless:rolleyes1:rotfl:

So when I get home, DW tells me ouryoungest is hard at work inviting kids to her birthday party.....problem being, she isn't getting one this year just can't stretch the $$ thanks to the trip. Somehow she keeps "forgetting" :headache::sad2:

Amelia needs to learn the same thing now and then, Sorry shehad to go through it.

Don't worry about the DVC, I think our talk of it is just a pipe dream.

That definition of the word investment, true. Looking to stay in a one bedroom for nineteen nights out of the year every year at the same point structure for forty years, you will save money buying into dvc rather then Paying the going rate discounted or not. That's all. I wish it was an investment In that definition, I wouldn't have to get up so early and go to work. Lol

Good morning fellas!

Good talk yesterday on DVC equaling (or not equaling) investment.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday!

Morning Guys.

Sent DS off on his first school trip this morning. We are kid-free until Sunday night. :cool1:

This morning was suppose to be a quiet one here at work but in the first 30 minutes I scheduled 2 meetings for later today. :cool1:

Have a good one.
