Watching the kids play Mario Kart Wii... while having a coffee... :coffee:

The coffee sucks, because the filter folded over in the brewer...

Very sad…
Very sobering…
And a might troubling in it’s randomness.
Prayers offered for the family.

Thanks, all! You've hit it right on the head with your randomness comment! This is actually what I do the majority of research on: determining whether genetic variants predict likelihood of developing critical exacerbations of asthma or other respiratory diseases in children. A fascinating area! Hope within the next 20 years, it won't be so random.

Ok, back to writing for me!

Morning, all! I guess everyone is back at work today! (slow boards) :rotfl2:

Part of the problem is that I have to try and remember what it was I was working on a week ago.:confused3:rotfl:

Not to be a downer, but some follow-up on my friend and colleague's mom who was hospitalized on 12/29 with the flu. After a very brief ICU course, where she developed multi-organ system failure (kidney's, heart, lung), she passed away on 12/31. Previously healthy 55 year old women with no medical problems. And no, she didn't get her flu shot this year.

So if any of you aren't getting your shot because it doesn't always exactly cover this year's strain (an excuse I get from my own mother), next year do it not for you but for your family. So if you die, they don't have to carry the guilt of you not getting a flu shot.

:scared1: Wow, that is sad. I have to confess I never bother with flu shots...haven't had the flu in years, so I never made a priority of it. I'm sure I just jinxed myself saying that, though.

Sounds good for the Convention. It’s just about time for all y’all to be headed down there. I hope everyone has a great time and may I also say…

Envy, envy, envy!!!

+1

Wish I could join in on the fun. We'll have to do so vicariously.

Hopefully it’s not the nonsense that I’m finally getting over.
One of the nastiest colds I’ve encountered in years. It knocked me on my keester for better then two weeks and the cough and drainage are still hanging around just to be ornery.

Yuck. Hope you feel better soon.

My son is also working through Epic Mickey (the original).

He never really got into it the first time 'round. So it sat on the shelf... He does want to get EM2, but I told him not until he finishes the first one.

So he is playing it again... We did buy part 2, just not opening it yet... :thumbsup2

Our EP2 is still in the package. We haven't had time to open it yet.

And in case you missed it....

Nasty nasty hit.

Dump it out and make more.
There’s no excuse for enduring bad coffee…

Unless you’re at Disney of course.
That stuff reeks, but cream helps and besides, you’re at Disney so who cares.

Well then extra prayers are offered up that your research is as productive as possible.
Keep it up friend, we’re all counting on you sir.

Remember work…
Better to forget.

Unless you’re one of those folk that enjoys their job.
Then, bless you.

Yuck. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks. It’s actually considerably better.
Just not completely gone yet.

How's your guest doing?
Thanks for asking.
She's ok. Today is her last full day here. She had a rough night when she discovered she didn't have room to pack everything she wanted to bring back. Either that or she was cranky because she knew it was about time to leave. Also, ya know how she said "yes" to adoption? Not exactly. She's open to it and is still considering it. In other words, she doesn't know what she's going to do. We hate that we had to do this, but we gave here a deadline. She needs to let us know before she leaves (in about 24 hours) what she's going to do. We can't leave this door open forever, not fair to my family to do that. So in the next 24 hours, I should find out if I'll be a dad again. Of course, if she goes back and we find out a week later that she wants in, we'll still take her. But in that instance we would still be missing the very important aspect of hearing it from her own mouth. When we get an e-mail saying she wants to be in our family, there's no telling if she was coerced or if someone is putting words in her mouth.
You don't think it will stay in the low 50's till at least 8am?

I havent' checked the hour-by-hour forecast. The high temps are in the 70's so it may be in the 60's for part of the race. If it were 50 degrees for the whole thing, that'd be fine by me.

Nasty nasty hit.

We use to see that boy play back when he was in HS. He went to one of the schools in the next town down from here. Needless to say, when he showed up on our field on a Friday night, things did not go very well for our kids.

I have been known to on occasion... ;)

We learn from our surroundings, and I am in good company....

Yes… yes you are. :lmao:

Anyone out there play BALDERDASH?

::yes::
Why do you ask?

Hopefully she'll make the right decision... good luck.
